One of the neighbors said she felt she couldn't leave him, in spite of the ongoing abuse, because she was Colombian and had no family or anywhere to go in America. That is what really saddens me. She knew he was dangerous but thought she had no other choice.

Where will the kids go now? If her family is in Columbia, are they going to go with his family?
I just don't understand people.

So very sad. Those poor kids. Rest in peace, Andrea.

From what I've read they're with child protective services. That would be such a tough call to make -- put them with their murdering fathers family or possibly into poverty in a country they don't know with their moms family.. :/

Earlier that morning, neighbors say Andrea had asked neighbors to watch her two daughters, ages 4 and 11 months, while she and her husband headed to court.

A neighbor said they left together before 7 a.m. and that a few hours later Andrea called to say that they were headed home.
"She called around 10:35 a.m. and said she was on her way and she was going to be here in about 20 minutes. They didn't come... he didn't come until 1 p.m., but it was just him and we never saw her again," Moran says.

Previous abuse incident:

Neighbors say the couple had a rocky relationship and that Andrea ran to them screaming for help after her husband allegedly poured motor oil on her face and took her phone.

This is terrible...what's going to happen to her daughters, that have been left behind by this? & the fact that she's a military wife (maybe I'm wrong, some sources have mentioned this) trapped by circumstances, & the fact that she had no family close by, to look out for her-just makes me very sad...RIP, Andrea, & I hope her husband gets everything that he deserves...

From what I heard on WTOP this afternoon the kids will be sent to Colombia to live with their mother's parents.

I am a domestic violence survivor and I just wish other DV victims would realize you don't have to stay in that situation. It took me 25 years to get out but I did, with little more than the clothes on my back. Too many women are dying at the hands of abusive men!

This is so sad, and not far from our neighborhood. I agree about getting away from domestic violence. But I think it's hard when you're in the situation to believe that this person would ever really kill you. You lose perspective.

My heart breaks for the kids. :(

A former Marine accused of killing his wife pleaded guilty Monday morning, surprising the courtroom and his own attorney with the unexpected plea.

Caleb Crew had already confessed to strangling his wife, 31-year-old Andrea Crew, to death last year and dumping her body in the Occoquan River, but he was not expected to enter a plea at the start of Monday's trial...

Crew will be sentenced at a later date. He faces 20 years to life in prison.

from Washingtonpost.com: "Crew stashed her body in a wooded area before driving to pick up his daughters from a babysitter, Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Casey Lingan said in court Monday.

After putting his children to bed that night, Crew returned and picked up Andrea’s body and weighed it down with a backpack filled with about 40 pounds of dumbbells and chunks of marble, Lingan said. Crew drove the body to a bridge and dumped it into the Occoquan."
