VA - Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell, 18, Norfolk, 3 March 2015 #4

This isn't mentioning the arrest at all, but some new details on the search:

A person working in the area who did not want their workplace identified tells 10 On Your Side detectives with the Norfolk Police Department were back in the area Friday morning and requested surveillance video from the business.

The search continued Friday night around 7:30 p.m, according to a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. Detectives with the Norfolk Police Department and a forensics team combed the area in the dark wearing knee-high rain boots.

Forensics teams collected evidence in brown paper bags and stopped at times to take photographs. Detectives on scene confirmed undercover officials were involved in the search.

More than a dozen law enforcement officers were on scene until 11 p.m., says one neighbor.

Also this seems to be when it escalated and began involving additional agencies:

Several agencies are involved in the search including Norfolk Police, Virginia State Police. and Tidewater Search and Rescue. The Chesapeake Police Department also confirms they were called on March 19 at 6:20 p.m. to assist Norfolk officers on the scene.

I think that was the poster's opinion?? But nothing in the article says it is not AJ.

It may be totally in the other direction from the search in Chesapeake, but I wouldn't necessarily dismiss it out of hand.

You are allowed to speculate on the charges at hand, but beyond that is off limits. If that changes, then we will certainly revisit.

Wesley Hadsell, AJ's step father was arrested today for offenses on March 6. No comment from LE. MSM is calling them "unrelated".

Sorry, that was me. I don't know it as fact though. The article mentioned a skull was found (among other items) so I was thinking it had been there longer. I'm trying to be cautious and not start a tidal wave of misinformation here IYKWIM but I'll be following the story along with the rest of you.

From the previously linked article. I suspect that being the remains seem to be in advanced degree of decay one can think it is *not* AJ.

Several LE agencies dispatched to Battlefield Blvd (and corner of St. Brides?), forensics and I believe canines. Near the meat packing plant. WH arrested, held without bond. Charges are obstructing justice with force (several counts) and weapons charges. We DO NOT know how these charges may or may not relate to AJ's disappearance.

Curious, especially, if WRIC / 8 will mention the arrest or only the search (their article is only about the search and there's nothing on their site about the arrest, and I've not seen them tweet the arrest at all either)

I'm sure WAVY will mention both as their reporter was the first to tweet about the arrest, with the 'unrelated' caveat.

I'd guess 13 will also, since they're all tweeting about the arrest (emphasizing obstruction of justice) - though their article title was also saying unrelated.

I guess I'm just curious what the one (8) who hasn't mentioned the arrest at all will do, because I'd find it very odd if they'd continue to not mention it.

So if the offense was on March 6 why did they not arrest him then? Why wait until today?

They have to have evidence before they charge anyone with a crime. Maybe some forensics came back today. Maybe they heard he was thinking about doing a disappearing act.

NORFOLK - The father of missing teen AJ Hadsell is in jail, being held without bond.

Saturday, Wesley Hadsell faces obstruction of justice charges as well as a charge for possessing ammunition as a convicted felon.

This comes on the same day police and search crews search for Anjelica Hadsell.*Norfolk police say their search was based off a tip.

Crews spent Saturday searching a marshy area near the 4000 block of Battlefield Blvd South.

Hadsell has been missing since March 2nd, when she was home from Longwood University on spring break.

We will update this story as we get information.
