In the UK, Canada and Australia, safety trumps freedom. In the USA it does not. The price of their freedom, whether it be guns or the right to own pitbulls, sadly is many deaths.

I'd say it's more about competing freedoms. There's the freedom to do something (to own a potentially lethal dog) and the freedom from something (to not be at risk from a potentially lethal dog). The US comes down on one side of that equation and other countries come down on the other side of it.
 
I thought I would get torn apart for my opinion if I posted it here, but it looks like most people here agree with me.

Pit bulls are dangerous. They just are.

This is not normal, for a dog to be so violent. Rottweilers are also violent (the 2nd most violent, after pit bulls), statistically, but there are more rottweilers than pit bulls in the US and they still kill less than pit bulls. So while I definitely would not own one, I would trust a rottweiler way more than a pit bull.

Pit bulls were bred to kill. People say "Well, it's all in how you raise them!" This has been shown time and time again to be false. Pit bulls raised by perfectly nice, normal owners snap and kill them in an instant.
 
If you have a dog who was originally bred to kill and who thus puts you at risk for being charged with murder, maybe you should consider giving up such a dog. Just sayin'
 
IMO: more cities should ban pit bulls. Just :moo:, please don't come after me!

There are many unanswered questions...when her friend says Bethany was going to walk the dogs at her dad’s then “come back”, come back to where? What’s the story with the death threats? Was she reported missing? How did her father happen to find her?

Iirc she moved to Glen Allen from Gooshland, about twenty minutes away. Her dad still lives in Gooshland where the dogs were at/kept. She was visiting her Dad(according to papers) and walked the dogs.

Having lived in that area it is rural, iirc she walked the dogs on old farm property. There are lots of out buildings on property like that, possible that with her dad not knowing right away that she was there and walking dogs he may not have seen her car where she parked. One article i read said her father found her and that iirc her friend was told to stay back you don’t want to see this. I don’t know it almost seems the friend went to her dad’s because she failed to answer/return.
 
In my experience with breeds and aggression. Bully breeds are not any more aggressive than other breeds. In fact chihuahua's win that title. They get coddled and end up being growly and snappy...and then of course end up breaking the skin on bites.

One of the first thing we change in a home with an aggression incident or a dog that just doesn't listen to the client is to get the dog out of the bed and off the furniture. Sometimes doing just that solves and issue. The dog is clearly equal to us in his mind if he is sleeping with us and on our furniture. It said in the article that the dogs were sleeping in the bed with her. So there is that. Although one article did say she worked at a training center and knew dogs well.

There does seem to be details about waiting a day to look for her, the kennels being pried open and death threats that certainly need to be answered.

I am so sad for her, it must have been horribly violent.

I DONT UNDERSTAND the part about ''where the dogs were kept." If they were her pets, why weren't they living with her. In my experience, if dogs are kept in kennels, away from ones living space, they are often more aggressive with people. JMO

Sounds like the dogs were outside in kennel at Dad’s, she may not have been able to take them with her where she lived in Glen Allen. It seems they were outside dogs.
