Just started reading this thread. They are looking in the landfill??? I wonder if that is based on a tip or if they finally got ahold of EM and got some information on where she is.

Good work sleuthers. The idea of contacting famous advocates through twitter was a wonderful idea. Maybe it will help get the word out and bring Sage home to her family.

I have been in hospital and just saw what was going on.... I am saddened. This is terrible.

Looks like there is going to be a press conference today about a reward :( Wish the conference was about new information! It's been a month now.

The landfill they are searching isn't close to Charlottesville, VA but is rather in Henrico, VA. Yet, they think he met someone at Amtrak in Charlottesville. I can't see someone taking a train from Chartlottesville to Richmond, although I suppose it could happen if someone doesn't have a car.

It's less than a mile from where Sage lives to the Amtrak Station on Main Street.

The trip to Main Street, Charlottesville to the landfill they are searching is a bit over an hour by car.
By train from Main Street Charlottesville (as they suggested Amtrak) is around 1.5-2 hours, we have two Amtrak stations in Virginia.

The Henrico Amtrak Station is roughly 30 minutes from the Charles City Landfill they are searching and the Richmond Amtrak Station is also about 30 minutes from the landfill.

I am interested to know WHY they want to search that landfill, yet say they are not looking for a body.

Here is the landfill info:
http://www.co.henrico.va.us/utility/solid-waste/hours-of-operation.html
Hours of Operation 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., seven days a week

More landfill info: http://www.co.henrico.va.us/utility/solid-waste/public-use-areas.html
"The Public Use Areas are strictly for residential use. A valid driver's license with a Henrico County address is considered proof that the customer is a resident." -- So you would have to show ID to get in, but is that ID recorded?

I can make maps for Sage as needed. Where are you Sage?!?!!?!? The world needs your smile!!!

EM Goes to Lincoln University according to his facebook - his pictures DO show him in a car but that doesn't mean he drove or that it was his car.

The Amtrak station closest to Lincoln University would be 8 miles away in Delaware.
There is NO train I can find that goes from there to Charlottesville (where Sage is missing from) but if Sage took the train from Charlottesville to Richmond he could have met him in Richmond via Amtrak and that would be a 4.5 hour train trip for EM.
BUT if EM had a car and met Sage in Richmond (at the Amtrak station?) that would be a four hour drive.

So the police are saying they don't think Sage is in Charlottesville anymore, which would make sense if he met EM by Amtrrak because you can not take Amtrak from Lincoln, PA (or nearby) to Charlottesville.

And another bump... Most recent news I can find is the reward news. Many thanks to the anonymous donor!

You are not forgotten, Sage. :rose:

Here's to hoping Dashad makes it home safe, to celebrate the upcoming holidays with all those who cherish him and miss him.

Hi All,
FWIW, I just sent a message to Jon Arterton; he was a member of a Gay acapella group called The Flirtations in the 90s (if you saw the movie Philidelphia, they had a cameo during the party scene). Had to do a bit of digging to find a way to reach him, but it wasn't as hard as I'd anticipated. I've never met him or spoken w/ him, but I know all the guys have been great activists throughout the years. I'll let you know if I hear back, and share any info I can.
Hoping to help find a way to get the media, etc. MOVING on these cases; I'm tired of seeing some people appear less "important" than others. JMHO.
Hoping--despite my fears-- for Sage...

Quote from Sage's father in the above article:

"Go in your room, call your child, tell your child you love them, you appreciate them, because don't nobody want to feel this pain I'm going through right now. Don't nobody want to feel this," said Smith.

Doing this now.

Wishing peace and strength for Sage and her family. :rose:

Sage is still missing. No news that I can find.

Come home soon Sage. :rose:

I came over here after seeing Sage's case mentioned in Dylan's thread. I don't know if it's the same case someone was talking about but I'm really interested in this case now.

One of the articles linked in this thread says Sage was a trans woman, can anyone confirm if that's Sage's gender identity? If this is correct info please use the right pronouns - "her" and not "him". I want to make sure I don't misgender Sage too so if anyone can shed some light on her gender that would be great. In quotes Sage's family uses male pronouns so I don't know if Sage preferred them or if it was just the family getting used to it still.

Here are some articles I have found, apologies if they are repeats:

http://campusprogress.org/articles/the_search_for_sage_smith/

I don't know where to begin quoting because both articles are worth a read.

I also found this blog which has a few posts about Sage and links to other articles: http://transgriot.blogspot.pt/search?q=sage+smith

By the way, if you have a tumblr go to the Sage Smith tag and reblog one of the posts with her info. I don't use tumblr anymore but I'm seriously considering going back to do it in hopes that my followers will spread the word. If you don't have a tumblr, your younger relatives probably have them so ask them to do it.

Hi Veidt, good post. From everything I've read, and from how her friends refer to her, Sage identifies as female, so that's how I've been referring to her throughout the thread. I agree it's very important to respect Sage by referring to her with correct pronouns, name, etc. unfortunately the MSM has not been good about this, despite there being established style rules they supposedly follow

I have seen no real updates on this case, unfortunately.

Sage, you are loved, and are not forgotten here. Please come home soon. :rose:
