LE is in a tough spot. They need to mover quickly and aggressively, given that this is a missing young woman case with a good chance that foul play may be involved. Yet, they have to play by the rules and anyone who come up as a POI has to be given his rights. LE, in such cases, try to give out as little info as possible, yet as much as they can to get people to step forward to give more info. It's a delicate balance.

My guess is that they have video footage of JM with Hannah to a point, but then that's it and it's not enough to hold JM as a suspect. We don't know what LE said to JM, or what JM told LE. The report that he had drinks with Hannah and they then went separate ways is not attributed to JM by LE, but by a news source who says his grandmother said this. Whether that is indeed what he told his grandmother or if it came from someone else who told the grandmother we don't know. This can be 3rd or 4th hand info. All we know is that there is not enough evidence to book JM, but enough to make LE suspicious of him.

That is their job. When an 18 year old girl is missing, and police have a lead, they will pursue it.

I sure hope that JM wasn't surprised after seeing himself on video, knowing that he took her to Tempo, and that he left with her ... knowing that 18 year old girl vanished from the face of the earth after he was seen with her. Was he actually surprised that police found him? Did he really think that police would not eventually want to talk with him? Did he think that he would slip through the cracks because his grandmother loves him, he eats his greens, and apparently he knows how to find a church?

Why didn't he come forward immediately upon realizing that the girl he had drinks with on Friday was missing?

:loveyou: :great::laughcry:

Right. I distinctly remember seeing that there are no cameras inside or outside of Tempo, but don't ask me where I read it!

I think it might have been a tweet by that "COY" guy.........not sure. JMO

I'd really really really like to know if LE has spoken to the other two people who are in the apartment with JM when they originally took the car.

People see the sex trade everywhere........but it's rarely ever found in Reality Land.
I will have to disagree with you most vehemently. Human trafficking is real, even if not as common in Virginia as it is in states like California, New York, or states on the border with Mexico. What would be very surprising (and unlikely) in HG's case is that human trafficking victims are usually people without documentation who can disappear with the somewhat safe knowledge that law enforcement, having no prior record of their existence in the U.S., will not be contacted.

I am guessing that he wanted to consult an attorney and that is what he did. The attorney probably advised him not to talk at all until he has retained an attorney. JMO

LOL

This made me laugh! My DD starts out with a decent looking car and in a year or two they look about like his. Right now she is driving a used neon in better shape then this guys because her car ,with the crushed front end where she hit a truck and smashed side where her b/f backed into the side of her , will no longer start with her tweezers....

There are a lot of such cars around any university. I doubt JM's car is the worst of the bunch. That is not relevant to the case.

Also, it isn't 100% yet that the video cameras ided JM. It appears that someone might have told the police the two of them were together that night and they are guessing that they have him on camera.

We all know that he was with Hannah on the night she vanished. We all know that there is proof that JM and Hannah were together after leaving the Tempo restaurant, where he bought alcohol. We all know that she was never seen again.

He has every right to speak with a lawyer, but it sounds like he's doing more than that. It sounds like he's attempting to flee, and may have successfully done so. What's he so afraid of? Why would a witness be terrified of giving police accurate and truthful information about his last interactions with a missing girl?

Maybe you have never heard of all these innocent people being railroaded and blamed for crimes they didn't commit. I'm not going to pretend that doesn't happen.

Thanks clu. So it seems he hasn't given police any kind of statement as other witnesses have. They must have originally tried to contact & talk to him....

I know I'm stating the obvious but I believe criminals aren't smarter than LE but in many cases they have been lucky in hiding the bodies of the missing. I don't have confidence that LE will find Hannah in C'ville searches, but I am hopeful. They need somebody to come forward - even anonymously - if they saw something. Too sad.

Does anyone know how the Daily Mail found out his name before LE released it?

I am guessing that he wanted to consult an attorney and that is what he did. The attorney probably advised him not to talk at all until he has retained an attorney. JMO

Which makes complete sense!

Then it has to be from somewhere away from Tempo, right? Does anyone besides me remember reading that there are no cameras at Tempo?

Yes! and there has been a ton of misinformation in this case. Heck the chief thought JLM was a reflection at first! :gaah:

We don't know for a fact he knew Hannah had gone missing or that he was on video. The person here who knows him apparently had no idea it was him, IIRC. Maybe he did not see or hear about it, or know it was Hannah, if he did.

i fear that jlm will commit suicide from his public media trial.

Goodness, I hope not. I think that to be a POI in a crime -- especially one this high-profile -- would be a nightmare. It would be so expensive just to have representation long enough for police to decide you aren't a POI.

IMO, what he has to fear is LE, who through their words, tone, and actions have quite clearly indicated (to me, anyway) that they think JM has done something to HG, without providing strong evidence to the public that supports this view. If JM were my son, I would make absolutely sure he did not speak a word to LE at this point.

BBM

Who is making these racist comments? The cops can't control loons on the internet.

I didn't say they did. I'm saying that an attorney could point to some pretty vile comments to indicate his client was justified to be in fear when he felt he was being followed.

The searches have ended for today has anyone heard any exit interviews after 600 EST ?
