I think the family really needs to do a MSM and SM push! They need to get her name back out there. This case saddens me so much. I have my theory, that I've had since the beginning, and it all just seems so obvious to me (and many others). Unfortunately, I think LE has dropped the ball on this 😢

Katelin Akens' family is hoping that a nationally syndicated television show will spur someone to come forward with the tip needed to solve the 14-month-old mystery about what became of the former Caroline County resident.

Ray Gemma, a private investigator who is working with the family, said he too is hoping for that elusive break.

"All it's going to take is one tip," said Gemma, whose company FFM LLC is based in the Fredericksburg area. "She did not just vanish on her own."

7:15 texts mom - staying with friend, need some time alone

the suitcase is a very typical looking rectangular blue carry on suitcase

missing from the suitcase clothes, phone, high school diploma


in suitcase, wallet with cash, debit cards, plane ticket

the 1:56 text where katelin says she is at the airport, the ping is near the stepdads house

same for the stepdads phone when he texted saying he just dropped her off

the 7:15 texts from katelin saying she is staying with a friend - the ping is in stafford

15 miles from where the luggage was found

stepfather did not show up for work the day katelin went missing, he called in

katelin's mother said there is no sign of katelin, the stepfather, or his car anywhere near the mall/airport etc

so why did police initially say there was reason to believe he was near the mall?

police searched stepfather's computer, vehicle, and cell phone but he wont give up his cell phone password

stepfather agreed to take polygraph, then backed out when he was supposed to take it

mother has asked him again to take the polygraph and he refuses

police statement - they refuse an on camera interview, still actively investigating, working with FBI

there is circumstantial evidence that supports a particular theory of the crime but they will not reveal it, PI knows about it but will not reveal it

this still seems so convoluted. maybe she was suicidal.... even though they apologized, she could have still felt violated.. maybe step dad was involved... maybe she did feel so guilty she took off. I just cant call it but it seems like she would have come back by now, or surfaced somehow, had she took off.

yep, we never heard any of that.

we didnt know about the stepfather skipping work, the phone pings, the computer and vehicle searches.
