Was she somehow thrown under the bus? Or maybe amber spoke to the friend and just took it as cheating? It was sexual assault but she didn't have time to process or decide her next move before she was disappeared [emoji30]whhhyyyyy there should have been more of a push [emoji22]

They should be investigated for rape, for sure. But she was seen in the days after the possible rape. So they probably did not make her disappear.

I believe she was feeling emotional, violated and conflicted and may have had a "history" w step dad and when alone w him, something was said or acted and a conflict arose and... well I won't say what else out of respect for TOS

Hopefully we can look into him. I'm very curious about whether he's particularly influential. I'm shocked that his name and photo weren't released. A store clerk or someone may have recognized him if he did or purchased anything suspicious after she went missing.

Sorry I'm so late replying katydid. I'm sure you know by now it is a YES The info drjones got for you doesn't get much better or more official than that.

ETA: And as someone suggested upthread (and because the name is not included in drjones query or the Sheriff's response) probably best we use either step-dad, SD or real initials, rather than a full name.

stepfather is POI according to show


she didnt trust her stepfather, was nervous around him


mother had to work the day katelin was going to the airport so she asked the stepfather


stepfather had to work at 3 so he was going to drop her off early


1:52 she texts asking to be dropped off at springfield mall railway station


she had not been on that train line since she was about 6 or 7


also @ 1:52(?) stepfather says he dropped her at the airport


2:00 katelin texts saying she is at the airport and her battery is dying so she wont be texting for a while


11:56 katelin texts amber - not coming back, something came up, will let you know when i get a new flight, wont be able to text for a bit


7:15 texts mom - staying with friend, need some time alone

the suitcase is a very typical looking rectangular blue carry on suitcase

missing from the suitcase clothes, phone, high school diploma


in suitcase, wallet with cash, debit cards, plane ticket

Why did she have her HS diploma with/missing?

guy from the show tries to talk to the stepfather, they wont show his face, he drives away

police statement - they refuse an on camera interview, still actively investigating, working with FBI

there is circumstantial evidence that supports a particular theory of the crime but they will not reveal it, PI knows about it but will not reveal it

Won't reveal as not to incriminate himself?
He's not a POI, as of right now, but perhaps LE is waiting to name any POI?

Just have to say that I'm hoping this renewed interest will lead to us getting the answers KA home, whether she wants to be, or not. As long as she's safe.

Didn't Katelin ask a friend for a ride to the airport but they couldn't do it. So stepdad had to.

Also. How is stepdad involved in this. If Katelin was violated by friends and not him.

Amber was waiting for Katelin to show up, right? Katelin was reliant on Amber's debit card?

they said that both her and her step dad's phones pinged near his home when they were supposedly dropping her off at the mall, and he was supposed to go to work at 3 pm but did not go.

i wonder if the 11:56am time for texting Amber is a time zone mistake, because iirc Amber said she called Katelin's mom as soon as she saw that text (after trying to get Katelin but she wouldnt answer the phone), that doesnt match up, unless Amber didnt see the text until 2 hours after it was sent i guess?

I remember from earlier that Amber kind of "gave up" when she heard something that made her feel as if Katelin wasn't going back to her.

Okay. Now let's say katelin didn't mind getting drunk and hanging with the female. Then wouldn't the guy be charged for friendly taking advantage of the situation whether premeditated or not?

I remember my daughter coming home to look for hers one summer. She had applied for a job and they wanted to see her HS diploma. They wouldn't send for transcripts of proof, like a college would. lol They wanted to see her actual diploma/
