Thanks KateB! He looks younger, late 20s to mid 30s? That hair they have on the sketch is just so "Zach" from saved by the bell.... And that reference might give away my generation!

I wonder if he was tall/short/what else.... They must have fan evidence from the her apartment, but we've never heard anything else?

This is so sad; extra-sad with her dog being missing, too. I once lived in Newport News, and my local news reports on NN, so this feels somewhat local to me. The sketch of the man associated with her bothers me very much. Not sure why.

This is one of the saddest cases, along with Susan Jacobson from Roseville, CA, I have ever followed. Kathleen's apartment was clearly a crime scene, yet her case has gotten so little attention. I thought this would have been solved almost immediately -- her couch with blood on it in the dumpster, carpet cut away, etc. And Molly gone, too. I bet the perp thought he got away with murder, and by the sounds of it, he most likely did. This case really could use the family's push to get more attention in MSM (just like Susan's disappearance needs a family advocate).

This just isn't right.

I think of her often, especially when skeletal remains are found. I'm sad that more wasn't done by family/friends to keep Kathleen in the spotlight.

Ah, was hoping Kathleen's thread being bumped up was a sign of some movement on her case.

Heartbreaking to think that someone may have gotten away with murder.

Hoping something comes to light to catch whoever did this.

This is the time of year when hunters come across remains, and I keep a close eye on any stories dealing with such discoveries.

I hope she'll be found some day.

Good to give this case a :bump: This is one of those cases that seemed like should have solved, but goes cold, sadly.

I agree 100%. Someone has to know something, and there should have been an arrest by now.

If I could afford it, I'd put a billboard up in Kathleen's neighborhood asking for info. Maybe the neighbors think the case has already been solved.

It feels good that we haven't forgotten her here at Websleuths.

hello and thanks to every one who has expressed concern and in interestin this case. Kathy was a very gentle, loving, compassionate, smart, talented
women who's life ended way to soon. Diane who is her sister and I miss her terribly and

not a day goes by that we don't think about her. The NN police department may never solve this case. They claim they do not have the manpower to do so. We had to call them more than once just to make them realize that it was a crime scene. And, yes, we were instructed by the police not to give any information out, but at this point nothing else is being done to solve this case. There is a person of interest that is not being pursued. Kathy's dog Molly has been recovered and lives with us now. She was recovered from someone in another state. Kathy would have never given her dog away since she never had any children, Molly was like her child. We are considering doing a tell all on this case.

First, welcome to Websleuths, thought be under sad circumstances. Thank you for providing new info - that her dog Molly has been recovered and is okay.
May I ask your relationship to Kathy?

Glad that you are with us. I can't imagine how difficult the past few years have been for anyone close to Kathy. I took an interest in her case last year when another Virginia female went missing. I don't think LE can tell you not to give out any information, but I can understand why they would ask you not to do it. Unfortunately, if NNLE claims they don't have the manpower to solve a case, then what alternative are they leaving for justice? Do they expect you to hire a PI to do all the footwork for them? Sigh. Hopefully, there will be some kind of movement soon. Have you tried reaching out to the media to do an update? I guess they'd be busy now with the news of the snowfall in that area and any events related to that, but reporters always need another story.

Hopefully you will take no offense to me asking, but since you mentioned Molly was recovered from another state, would you mind saying which state? Or if that state is a bordering state of VA?

I'm Kathy's brother in law.

The dog was recovered from Tennessee.
