It does not fall under the scope of service mandated by Congress for the Secret Service. The Secret Service just can't jump into an investigation. They are responsible for our banking system, money cyber security and protecting the protectees mandated by Congress.

No, the Secret Service could not randomly review his computer, unless within their scope of service. The FBI could and it does fall under the FBI as the federal investigative agency.

I'm very familiar with government and the powers of each department. Have hosted, planned, executed numerous events with the Secret Service and Congressional protectees.

I'm also very aware of government contractors. This man did not work for the White House and no one has been able to produce any documentation showing that he did.

My opinion, either the media misspoke as to the agency or there's more to the story and I'm betting it's related to money.

Correct, the secret service most likely didn’t randomly view his computer. It is my understanding, in the article from insidenova (posted up thread) that investigators collaborated with the secret service upon MB’s disappearance.

I think the guy who sold him the house joked. It is either on Naresh's or Mamta's FB or maybe both. The realtor mentioned a house, a Tesla, ¹a job at the white house but "white" was not capitalized so maybe, a joke.

Members of Kafle Bhatt’s family, who live in Nepal, have obtained visas and are in the process of traveling to the United States to try to get emergency custody of the baby, Bandita Sharma Dhal, an immigration attorney working with the family, told CNN Friday.

Virginia mom and nurse Mamta Kafle Bhatt has disappeared. Her husband is accused of killing her.

Kafle Bhatt was seen on July 27 at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, where she worked as a registered nurse in the medical-surgical unit.

*Prosecutors say Naresh Bhatt changed his story numerous times about when he last saw his wife. They now believe Mamta Kafle Bhatt was killed on July 30 and that her husband began covering his tracks July 31, but her body has not been found.

Mamata Kafle case: Family prepares to travel to US to get updates

This article is well worth a read IMO, because it gives a Nepali perspective, not a western one. It highlights disagreement over a cultural detail that most western men and women wouldn't subscribe to and might even be horrified by. It also has Mamata's parents pointing to the involvement of the husband's family, not just the husband. IMO this is culturally a very complicated case.

“We started hearing that Mamata's mother-in-law, who had gone to the US to care for her, was not treating her well, and was sceptical about Mamata’s indifference to their demand of Chhaupadi, the tradition of keeping a person in different shed during menstrual period,” Kamal said. “Whenever we asked Mamata how she was doing, she always said she was fine. She never told us about the pain she was going through, though we did hear bits and pieces from outside. We thought it was just minor quarrels that would be resolved.”

Mamata’s family claims that recently, her husband, Naresh, and his mother had not been treating her well. “During her menstruation, they did not treat her well under the guise of tradition,” said Mamata's aunt, Maiya Kafle.

Maiya complained that ironically the woman who had gone to take care of the puerpera tortured her.

“Her mother-in-law had gone to care for her, but instead, she made Mamata work on an empty stomach and did not provide proper food or care. This has only deepened our suspicions,” she said. “We believe that their relationship started to deteriorate after her mother-in-law went to the US. Even after that, there were issues, which we were suspicious of.”

This poor woman. It must have been awful for her, being so far away and having to hear this and worry her daughter being mistreated and then disappearing. She must have felt so powerless to help. I hope they family can find some peace through caring for Mamte’s daughter.
