Landfill searches are hard enough when you're looking for an intact body, and you know the specific dumpster it was put in. Hopefully he made another huge mistake, but it won't be necessary in terms of justice here. The evidence is overwhelming, and a no-body homicide isn't all that hard considering the physical evidence, and the rest of it.

Yeah, it's not like there's ambiguity about whether she left of her own accord. People who do that don't leave most of their blood volume behind, let alone their infant child and all their worldly belongings.

• One of the crime scene investigators said they had been doing this job since 2011 and had “never seen this much blood” at a scene.
• Prosecutors said the “entire shower floor glowed” [using Bluestar] in the couple’s master bathroom.
• Fibers on the bedroom carpet appeared manipulated like someone had scrubbed it clean.
• Investigators found a nearly-empty bottle of carpet cleaner purchased by Naresh back on July 31 nearby.
• When they pulled up the carpet, there was evidence that blood had seeped under it, as if someone had been dragged into the bathroom.

On Naresh's FB there is a photo of him fishing with his realtor at the Great Falls. Naresh said he did not like to eat fish but was a fisherman. Great Falls are near the Potomac River and outside Loudoun County. The Potomac River is the border of Loudoun County, though.

If I were LE, I'd ask the people who fished with Naresh exactly where he did it. I have the feeling that he is the creature of a habit. Another option- he likes photos of himself sitting at the top of local mountains near the cleft. That would also be a convenient place, although body of water would be my first thought.

However, as everywhere, there are potential loopholes. The push to forfeit prior Nepalese citizenship is not from the US side. It comes from the Nepalese one. The question about another citizenship might arise, realistically, when you visit Nepalese embassy to extend/exchange your passport. If Naresh had a new Nepalese passport issued shortly before becoming a naturalized US citizen, he could have kept it. I checked, it is valid for 10 years.

And then comes the question of visas. But there are major travel hubs such as the Emirates or Turkey where holders of US passport can either can get a 90-days visa at the airport (Dubai) or need no visa at all (Turkey). In short, technically, he can leave the US on a US passport to go there, or anywhere else. Then he flies either home on Nepalese passport or, to another country close to Nepal where visa is not needed and just drive through the border. He can even fly in to Nepal on US passport and buy Nepalese visa at the airport, get into the country on US passport and use Nepalese one inside. In short, as long as he is not violating US laws, i think Nepalese ones can be bypassed

However, now in Nepal, in Mamta's state, at least, people are pretty angry with the situation, so I think that now he, indeed, should better stay in the US.

Mamta shared some reels with her MIL, they were more traditional, with lip-synching and singing, but still.

There are two parts here,

1) whether Naresh is the older brother - then by tradition, it falls on him to take care of the parents when they get old
2) as I have said, the "in-laws jokes" exist in every culture. In my own, it is mostly about SIL and his MIL. But realistically, the relationships between a DIL and MIL are more pregnant with problems, and again, it transcends all cultures.

No matter how difficult the relationship between a daughter and her mother might be, her children are your grandchildren; it is your daughter who is having birth pains, and the moment the grandchildren emerge, they are yours.

Not so with your sons. You raise these golden boys, you invest into them, they are "momma's boys", and then one day, they leave and go to another woman. And, they take care of her, and they tell you, "and my wife says that...", and what it begets is pure jealousy. It takes wisdom to tell yourself, "my son is happy with this woman. For him, for his happiness." It is a very old story and the only difference is that yes, in some cultures, the MIL holds more power.

I wonder there were more than obvious cultural issues. I was looking at Mamta's reels with Naresh and thinking that initially, at least, he did smile at her. He looked happy. I think that when his parents came for the first time, his mom noticed it. And all started from there. I don't know whether chhaupadi was merely a religious belief of the MIL, or whether she achieved more, separated the spouses physically, as Mamta ended up sleeping in the kitchen, or away with her friends. I wonder if menstrual issues were just a pretext. I wonder if she hated her DIL and if indeed, it is very unsafe to let her even be in the same country with her granddaughter.

Would he need a boat to do that, and if so, do we know if he has access to a boat? I can't imagine him putting her body into water where she could easily be found. However, obviously he's not a genius.

There was a post on here with a timeline showing Mamta was last heard from on Tuesday, July 30th.
Another post said she called her mother every morning and every night but on Wednesday, July 31st, she didn't call her mother. From this, I suspect she was killed July 30th sometime after she talked to her mother. The next day, Wednesday, was trash pickup day. Neighbors wouldn't have paid much attention to Naresh putting things in the trash cans on the night before normal trash pickup.

In my opinion, there is a good chance she was dismembered in the bathtub or shower, put in the trash and gone before she was reported missing. I hope forensics tested the trash cans.

Just caught up on this entire thread - Firstly, RIP Mamta.

Women in countries alone are so vulnerable when trying to flee a domestic violence situation as they have no family to turn to for support (I know Mamta had many wonderful work friends but you don’t want to be a ‘burden’ on them for long as they have their own lives)

I’d like to know if Mamtas family knew her husbands family prior to setting up the arranged marriage - from my experience in this field most of the time the families know each other prior to setting this up.

I usually agree that the best place for a child is with their biological family - however, I’d have a slight fear over this in this case as due to the families culture you could essentially be setting up the young daughter for an arranged marriage in the future.

Cases like this just shock me - I often wonder how he thought he’d get away with this - it was obvious from page 1 of this thread that he had involvement.

I’d also like to know if the mother in laws movements have been accounted for in all this - was she still staying with them? From articles further up thread it sounds like she was horrible to Mamta so I’d like her movements on these days to be accounted for so we can discount her as being anyway involved - MOO.

Police removed the bathtub and found blood underneath it and also found blood stuck in the caulking around the bathtub that was visible with the naked eye, Sami said.
