I truly don't think they are anywhere near solving this case. It does not sound like they have any suspect in mind.
Ya---it's easy to say that the "person of interest" is "familiar with the area"...well I mean, why not DO something about it?? I know it's not that easy...but being frm close to the area -------i'd like to see more of SOMEthing done................
and I may be sounding ridiculous right now and that's fine. It IS Superbowl Sunday. But...i'd still like some feedback.

Based on my own personal experience in recent months, a familar country location during daylight hours can become very unfamilar after dark. On more than one occasion, I have arrived late afternoon and stayed until after sunset working on a farm. It is much more difficult (without roads & reference points) to manuver through a rough pasture after dark. I believe this person knew this land like the back on his hand.

The next paragraph is strictly my Guesstimation:
In my area of the country, there are only a few cattle farms of this type still operating. Nevertheless, the demand for electric mushrooms is still high. IMO the person who put Morgan in this spot, may have for years, harvested mushrooms on the farm in the warmer months. There were no shrooms there in mid October but he knew the territory because he travelled this exact dark path many times before. He would endure the roughness of this terrain because this entry point and route were the safest way to eventually reach the place where the cows had grazed & where the mushrooms were plentiful. He was also accustomed to the wet ground because optimum harvesting is done after a spring or summer rain.

Could his initials be PT? He has the farm connection. Not sure of the mushroom connection though. Remember Det. Rader did not want to go into the past activity on the farm. It fits.

By "electric mushroom" do you mean those that naturally produce psycho-active substances?

Didn’t see the Find Morgan thread before the site went down. Is Long Haul the name of the group that performed at the Anchorage Farm? And, they traveled to Belle WV, Gainsville FL & Charlottesville VA? Who do you mean could be the groupie? What is Resistance Music, and how is Mountain Justice (an environmental group?) related?

Hi Walker, my impression from the post about the video is that "Long Haul" is the 'hat name' of the YouTube poster who put the video up, and is also the potential 'groupie' (and that's why he/she posted the video). Also, I think they traveled to Belle, WV, Gainesville, and Charlottesville to perform. No kidding. An incredible amount of rain / snow. However, I don't think we've had an unusual amount of rain since mid-October, and only that one big snow mid-December.

Chopin Drive also is connected to another nearby Farm.
Possibly somebody who works for or near there also could be the one.
I am saying, to people who live in that area and poachers are some of those people who the farmer said had come in there and just shot game and left it to rot on the property.
So it has to be someone on or near one of the farms a worker perhaps?

Might have gone that way, or they could also have continued on 250 (Ivy Road) to County Road 637 and then on any of several other country roads. I'd guess Taylor's Gap Road. It's a bit windy but if we're talking a local person familiar with the road it looks straightforward. There are probably other routes known to the locals as well.

Does anybody know if there's a fishing access along the Hardware River there?

After seeing this map this sure looks possible..also I doubt that Morgan was wasted as bad as some people think she was...
personally I feel she would have been better off to stay put till her friends came out and for the life of me, I can not figure why she even considered looking for a way home after looking forward to going?

I'd like to find out what other WS's are thinking at this point.
-Was the perp organized or disorganized?
-Has the perp done something like this before or was it the first time?
-Were drugs involved and if so, what?
-Is this case tied to other cases in Virginia by a common perp?

To answer another poster, I don't really know if I think LE are close to solving it, or not. On one hand, there is new information for them to go on since the discovery of her body. On the other hand, it IS frustrating that this perp is still on the lose and can commit this type of crime again...and maybe they have.

Not that it even matters necessarily, but perhaps this LSD angle that has been brought up could explain something.

Earlier on, we read some things that referred to MH having changed schools, and was perhaps involved in something. Could it be that when she said "the man stomped her down" she was referring to getting busted for drugs? It is too bad that the Facebook page is unavailable, because the tone of her comment on fb really sounds like she was doing some experimenting.

And in the comment she "lost that sweater". Now it could be that her behavior on the night of October 17th was not that different from experiencing a bad trip. Where "things just went downhill from here" as she says in her comment about the picture. Possibly losing items, wandering outside the arena, ending up with a creepy guy.

Either way, if she was or was not on the "unicorns" that night; it doesn't matter. Because she is gone and somebody took advantage of her and its still not solved. But, we try and figure things out on here.

Ecstacy or speed could be other possibilitys. Ecstacy could have caused her to be trusting of somebody wierd. Speed could explain her reported angry outbursts.

LE said they have witness reports of her inside, outside trying to get back inside, walking through the parking lot, and talking to the athletes in the parking lot, and finally on the bridge. They released a time line chart a couple of months ago with a map showing her movements outside the arena.
I assume LE thinks these sightings are credible to release it to the public.

Now some information could have changed since they released the time line a couple of months ago, but I haven't heard anything about it.

And some of these sightings have slight variances in clothing description, ie; legs covered vs legs uncovered.

IMO, LE has been very careful to use the words resemble, similar to, matching, etc.

Eyewitnesses who mistakenly ID'd the other girl as Morgan were certain it was her too.

Do I think the friends are lying? I think it's possible. It wouldn't be the first time supposed friends have dumped a friend and lied about it to save their behinds.

However, a violent COD would negate the friends possible involvement for me. OD or misadventure yes. Violence towards Morgan no. MOO.

From everything we have been told by official sources, Morgan was inside the arena and then left. There would be text or phone messages (and relevant pings) to put Morgan in a general area. She had on particular clothes (it's not just a "general blonde girl). She was seen outside by credible witnesses.

If Morgan never went into the arena, LE would have been looking at her whereabout before the concert and would be paying considerably more attention to the friends. I am more interested in who she might have thought she could "catch a ride" with or who she went out to talk with, etc.

The friends may not be likable, but I don't see them as killers who could dump a body, especially since their ride was Morgan's car.

BBM. We don't know what LE is investigating or looking at. They have been very tight lipped in this case.

I'm starting to think instead of the perp being someone like a local SO, that it's highly likely he is someone from a prominent family. The VSP detective even mentioned during his recent PC that if you have info it didn't matter to him about your name. I don't think that was just a random statement. I tend to think they suspect the perp is from a prominent family and want them to know they can remain anonymous. And while that area is rural, even John Grisham lives in North Garden. I suspect many other wealthy famillies do too...Some even with kids who attend(ed) UVA and likely are rather familiar with that area.

I would tend to agree with this. If it's a member of a prominent family, LE would need an absolutely ironclad case before they could bring charges.

If they're talking about the Garden area, that brings that burned house back into play. Or might.

Her friends put her inside with them, do you think they are lying? I guess anything is possible but I don't think they are responsible for her death or dumping her in the field, and that would be the only reason they'd lie about her being inside with them.

I simply don't believe we've heard the whole story from the friends. It just doesn't make sense. She obviously got separated from the rest, but as to what happened to cause that and what else may have been going on? Since LE is running with that story, I have to believe the friends have been instructed to keep any other details to themselves. I've seen comments to the effect that LE is "protecting" Charlottesville's reputation by being so low-key and not issuing blanket warnings about a kidnapper/killer on the loose. I don't think that's what they're doing. I wonder if they suspect this person went after Morgan specifically, that perhaps he knew her even if she wasn't aware of him.

I had asked before but I'm not sure if it was answered... does anyone know if Morgan had publicly posted her plans to go to this concert (on a myspace or facebook page, for example)?

I have no clue who did this to Morgan and I don't think LE does either.

But I think that whomever it was took the easiest and most direct direction to dispose of her body where it was found.

I don't believe they entered AFs through the front and went 1.5 miles all the way back to the backside.

I have always found that those that live around the backside of property lines are very familiar with them. Imo this was someone who either had lived or visited the Blandemar area and knew that Mr. Bass' property started where he had the barbed wire fencing up.

Since LE thinks this was a blitz attack I think they are convinced that the abduction and murder was most likely done by a stranger who took the opportunity to do the crimes when they saw a very vulnerable and alone young woman walking by herself.

if LE runs out of leads one group of people they might want to talk to would be the local coon hunters by looking at pics this looks like it would be good place to coon hunt.creeks mix of woods and fields.it might explain dead deer.coon hunters spend a lot of money on their dogs its easier to get rid of deer than losing a dog.these people would also know there way around in the dark.local vets would be able to give them names of dog owners just a thought.

Just a thought ... I wonder if the "legal high" drug called Mephedrone (bubbles or white white) has become big in VA. It's huge in the UK and my cousin and her daughter had it slipped into their drink. What a nightmare.

It's sold on the internet as plant food. If you google it there are a lot of sites that explain how to use it and what effect it gives ... similar to a mix between cocaine and ecstasy. Side effects are said to include fits, nose bleeds, paranoia, insomnia, memory loss and heart problems. A lot of those seemed to fit the description of MH by witnesses.
