Why else would they have press conferences now except to keep Morgan in the news and find the person responsible for her death.

I think they have some ideas but no way to prove it or directly connect the person(s) to where her body was found. Hopefully any evidence they got, any DNA or the cause of death might narrow down the possible suspects.

Police visited Dan and Gil Harrington at their home today to update them about the investigation into the death of their daughter, Morgan.

The body of Morgan Harrington, a Virginia Tech student, was found on a farm outside of Charlottesville in January. Her killer is still at large.

The lack of information in Morgan's murder case is compounded by an impending protest. The Westboro Baptist Church, based in Kansas, is planning to protest all Virginia Tech students -- including Morgan Harrington -- early next month because church officials say parents of VT students encourage drinking and other activities they say are sinful.

Morgan Harrington was a participant in those activities that caused her own death, church officials said.

The church group is being terribly unfair in picking on one young woman. The current social scene which revolves around our colleges & universities is harmful, but MH was a victim of this culture; she is not responsible for its creation. 100 years ago, no one would have dreamed that young American women and men would be encouraged to borrow huge sums of money to live together in these camps, with no privacy, and a general atmosphere of insobriety and lack of emotional commitment. Does this experience better their prospects, or are many people ruined by college? In any case, MH is not to blame.

This is a great idea, should it come to that.

Westboro goes all over the country doing this. In other cities, people have organized counter protests. One group of motorcycle owners revs their engines loudly near the “protesters.”

They went to San Francisco recently, where the people handled them perfectly. Locals “joined” their protests holding silly signs such as “I hate spinach,” “God hates signs,” “Dog loves *advertiser censored*” (carried by a dog), “I thought about Shirley Phelps naked and now I’m gay.”

Other favorites: “God hates fuzzy tiny kittens,” “God loves everyone,” “God hates figs,”
“Lame —>” (standing next to a Westboro protester),
“Ignorant –>” “He’s gay —>” (both standing next to protesters)
“Dude, Phelps is so gay,” “What’s your sign,” and “God is love, hate is stupid.”

The counter-protesters were all smiling, some wearing silly costumes. They all took each others’ pictures and appeared to have a lovely time. Westboro freaked out and left. Bet they never go there again.

As Teddy Roosevelt said, “There is more than one way to skin a cat.” Just sayin’.

I attended a candlelight vigil in Wilmington, NC, on the Cape Fear river, sponsored by CUE & Monica Caison. it was not only very moving, but very spiritual.
Gil Harrington read a heartwrenching poem written by her, in memory of her daughter Morgan Harrington. as she was reading the poem, a snow white sailboat came out of the darkness, into the light, and was analogous to a white dove skimming its wing on the water while gliding silently up the river..

As you may know the Westboro Baptist Church, which we do not consider a church at all but a group of domestic terrorists, has chosen to target our murdered daughter Morgan Harrington with a hate rally in Blacksburg on 4/9/10. Yes there is evil in the world and this latest strike from it is painful and disturbing, but nothing compared to the death blow we have just survived. I don't understand how this evil gathering, which clearly appears to be a political entity, can cloak themselves in religiosity and thereby gain constitutional protection and financial indemnity.

I am not courageous enough to be one that seeks out evil in the world to vanquish it, but I am not cowardly enough to turn my back on it and run either. When evil like the WBC presents you must face it and keep your eye on it as you attempt to neutralize its poison.


We will not let this petty evil topple us. We will shine the light and dispel the darkness of intimidation and domestic terrorism. We will continue to work for good, as caregivers, as educators, as advocates, feeding the poor, washing their feet, and binding their wounds. We will not be diverted from these tasks we have taken on in Morgan's honor. We will not allow Morgan's killer to erase her from the world nor these petty ****s to poison her legacy.

Darkness must always give way to the light. We will prevail.

As I understand it, it's not so much a topic as certain people. An article of clothing was found in Charlottesville near a certain address. What we can't do is discuss ("sleuth") the people who lived at the address, unless and until LE suggests they were in some way connected (which hasn't happened). The rationale is, if someone tosses an item into the bushes in front of your apartment building, you shouldn't have folks on Websleuths picking apart your name, employment record, children's schools, make of car, etc. etc. when you had absolutely nothing to do with the item landing in front of your building.

(This is based on my understanding of the answer I got from Tricia when I asked...)

There is no requirement that small planes even be housed in airports. You can keep your small private plane in a large barn.

Actually, the simplest answer is that the body was dropped from a plane.

I disagree that the simplest answer is that Morgan's body was dropped from a plane, or that dropping murder victims from planes isn't that unusual. I'd be willing to guess that less than 1 percent of murder victims' bodies are dropped from planes, and that IMO is unusual.

Also, if someone went through the effort of dropping her body from a plane, one would think that the whole purpose of doing so would be to gain access to an area so remote that it wouldn't be accessible from car or by foot, with the hope that the body would never be found. If someone had access to a plane, why wouldn't they drop her body on the side or top of a mountain where it would never be found, or better yet, in the ocean? Then she would most likely never have been found, end of story.

I know that earlier when the plane theory was first proposed, several posters with actual small plane experience testified why this would be impossible or at best extremely unlikely. I'm taking their word for it, and listening to my inner common sense. She wasn't dropped from a plane, IMO.
