This was written 16 hrs ago, then she followed up with

@CameronOAustin: Akers said there would be some information released today, but essentially said it was generic. No major break as of current. #NoahThomas

With what has and hasn't been released, I can't imagine that they have any real evidence that it was totally an accident (top off the septic tank). With some of the stranger sounding accidental death cases, LE were a bit clearer that there was nothing to indicate foul play as of yet in their investigation. I don't think they've said anything to that effect with this case....

What can we possibly infer?
1. LE probably doesn't think it's a random serial killer or they would be asking for public's help (someone we may know acted strangely, etc)
2. It wasn't a completely obvious accident (lid found completely off septic tank), or they would have come out with that by now.

LE must be confident in whatever the ME's findings are, since they have released the body for burial. Is this normal if foul play is suspected? I thought that Caylee Anthonys remains were retained for a long time, and a 2nd autopsy was carried out.

There are a lot of differences between the cases - too many to really compare the two. Caylee was "missing" for 5 or 6 months. Her remains were badly decomposed and she was exposed to different elements than Noah was. I think the autopsies would have gone very differently. Additionally, there was a lot of additional evidence found with her remains that had to be tested and considered with the autopsy results. We don't know what was found with Noah. Casey Anthony led investigators on a legendary wild goose chase whereas LE has repeatedly stated that Noah's parents have been cooperative. Casey Anthony had already been arrested when Caylee's remains were found, so I think they knew there would be a contentious trial, etc.

I do hope that you are right that LE is confident in the ME's findings. It would horrible to drag this out or leave lingering questions. Whether it is normal or not to release remains swiftly I think depends many factors in the case, not just the question of foul play. JMO.

If this is an accident what harm would there be in saying "The investigation continues but preliminary indications lead us to believe this was an accident"?

I would guess one of two things. 1) LE has a strategy and their communications, posture, etc is a part of that and/or 2) (I am not an attorney but...) I could see that being brought up later in court as a part of a defense if they were wrong.

It would certainly slow down the SM speculations.

My thought is that if they have a press conference and don't tell us it was an accidental death, then they are investigating it as a homicide and aren't ready to announce their POI.

I've been lurking on this case from the beginning.

I'm finding it incredibly odd the way information has been given out. Like everyone one else, I think if it was cut and dry an accident that would have been stated. Although it really hasn't been that long since the discovery, so maybe they are just crossing their Ts. I would just assume to save the family trouble they would have at least said "Appears to be an accident" or something of the sort.

I had to go out of town over the weekend so, I've spent some hours catching up. I was so hoping for an update on this.

My thoughts are never far from precious little Noah, no matter what I'm doing.

Totally agree. That would go a lot farther than saying they're cooperating, distraught and grieving.

I haven't read that it will be a private funeral for family only. Do you have a link? TIA!

It is not private--it is public according to the admin of the Noah FB page--they said they wanted to invite the public because they know so many have fallen in love with Noah and that they want to pay their respects.

Obituary has also been posted at The Patriot, a free independent weekly newspaper based out of downtown Pulaski. Here's the web edition.

I am of the mindset that LE has a strategy for why they are rolling info out in such a limited way. It lends itself well to a theory discussed previously that if he was in the company of another child, fell in, and that child panicked and did not tell an adult right away, etc. And all along, LE has kept (what I saw as) a dignified and reserved approach to this.

Given that there was a credible tip that led them to the septic tank, I don't see how it can be an accident involving only Noah.

I would guess that LE is juggling issues of making sure their case is prosecutable if necessary and/or navigating liability issues if this was an accident involving another child. They seem cautious and guarded. I want to believe they have a good reason for that.

Public can still help Noah investigation

Just because Noah Thomas’ body has been found doesn’t mean the public’s assistance in the investigation is no longer needed.

Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis issued a statement Friday encouraging citizens to “continue to provide us with any information or tips that may be helpful to our ongoing investigation” into the 5-year-old boy’s death. This can be accomplished by calling 540-980-7800.

Those sweet admins on Noah's page have done SO much for that little boy. What a blessing they've been. I'd love to know if they have any relationship with Noah's mom. I don't think I've heard them mention her.

I've seen them mention her numerous times.

I wonder if that scenario would lead to prosecutions for parents involved? If there were young children outside with no supervision for maybe 2 - 3 hours, and for such a horrendous thing to happen, would it lead to any charges?

I know the law in the UK doesn’t say an age when you can leave a child on their own, but it’s an offence to leave a child alone if it places them at risk.

In effect, if you are asleep in another room, then your child is technically alone. The Governmental website in the UK actually states: Parents can be prosecuted if they leave a child unsupervised ‘in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health’. I wonder if there is similar thinking in this case, and that is what the delays are all about?

Thank you Meemaw. You know, the fact that there's still an investigation, asking for tips from the public, makes one think this is probably not an unquestionable accidental drowning. Emphasizing JMO.

I believe one admin is an acquaintance of the mom, and one's daughter was friends with Noah...but she did not know the mom personally.
