James's eye color is off.

Hazel to Brown is often a matter of opinion...though I don't think James is a strong candidate. Everything's just a little off. The main thing he has going for him is circumstances, which is not enough by itself.

I wonder if there's any pix of him without the mustache... I say someone submits that as a possible match.

And no, there are absolutely no casinos here in VA. :/

The more I look at KJB's picture the more I like it as a match. I'm not completely sold but its better than nothing.

It's really hard to get attention from anyone. I've been submitting matches for years and only quite recently found myself "a friend" in Namus so I get regular responses now where I never did before.

The line "please confirm receipt of my submission or I will email you every day until I get a reply" tends to work quite well! :what:

Good so we should find out soon if our CT JD is our VAB JD :)

There is no dental, DNA or fingerprints on file for KB. It is going to take a while.

I see the resemblance but I just... I don't know if I buy it. I just don't think KB is our VABJD. KB just doesn't speak to me -- he's a lot closer than the other matches and bares a slight resemblance.. but something is off. IDK maybe it's b/c VABJD looks like my Uncle Jim (who is very alive and well and not missing).

I wonder, has anyone tried to find KB's wife and contact her?

And may I post a side by side picture comparison? Or is that not recommended b/c VABJD is dead in his photo?

It's not really advisable to post morgue photos here. If a family member has a google alert set up on their MPs name they would find the thread and see it without any warning.

There are minor exceptions to the rule. If the photo genuinely looks like the person is just asleep, that would be OK but you don't see many of those. Basically just think of it as, if it were your family member, would you like to see it? Most of the time the answer is no. Most UIDs have a reconstruction image that is fine to post here, you just happened to find one that didn't.

You can do a side-by-side and upload it to a picture hosting site then link to that with a warning message. There are some basic rules in this thread Found Deceased PLEASE READ: Regarding posting pictures/links with graphic photos of the deceased - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

... and welcome to the websleuths family! :D

So we probably shouldn't try and contact his family either huh :X

ok help me out here -- is it normal to look like he has a busted lip and bloody nose? And whats the discoloration? I have never seen that on other PM pics (not that I have seen a ton)

I'm going to assume what happened is the EMS people had all that respiratory stuff hooked up to him as he was being taken to the hospital, and NAMUS just happened to use the immediate PM pic.

As for the scratches I'd say he probably feel face forward or hit a counter or a corner on his way down.

Errol Synman

Characteristics/height/weight are close... he hung out at beaches...

and know his show size! the unidentified man wears a 9 and a half. that could help rule out at least if a big variance.

Have you heard anything back?

No, nothing. :( This is the case I want to solve the absolute most but it just seems hopeless

Bump for the case that breaks my heart the most

I don't think I did as it was super hard to find someone to contact about it.

Errol Synman was 4 inches shorter than the VA Beach Doe (5'6" vs 5'10"), and from half a world away. I don't feel strongly about this one.

FWIW, a 9 1/2 US Men's shoe is equivalent to an 8 1/2 Australian shoe.
