I did want to mention that Mormons are encouraged to fast one Sunday a month and give the money they would have spent on food to the church. It is not an unusual thing.

Yes, but since the poster didn't indicate she was Mormon, I drew my own conclusions that it was being done in solidarity.

I dont think it will happen in 30 mins.....how will everyone who is away at the time make it through the nightmare traffic downtown that we are hearing about?

was told 30 min until verdict will be read. would have to show up like any other day of the trial. i would think 30 min just to get through security and up the elevator. ???

Can someone tell me when the families get to make their statements to JA. And also do they have time limits?

Thank you.

This video is so strange. When Juan was talking around 49:10-ish, maybe 49:15, she does this weird movement w/ her hand under her neck like a "slit your throat" kind of move.

I'm sure she wasn't intending it that way, but everything she does is so creepy and malicious. Ugh. If she could, she would have killed Juan right then and there.

There is no question in my mind that she intended to do precisely as she did.

She is nothing if not deliberate.

It is entirely unambiguous.

Why would it be hard to believe?

Remember this one?

This is what she did during a sidebar in March:

And this is what she did during JM's closing rebuttal, cued to the spot:

http://youtu.be/_Qfb1KnCZCE?t=55m19s

The difference is obvious.

And it needs to be referenced in the penalty/sentencing phase.

Will she be doing her signature throat slash move on that day?

Or will they look more like this?

Hi Sammie! Just read your post and was not aware that Juan was happy about getting rid of #8....I must have missed something??? #8 was CEO, correct? Thought he was a prolific notetaker and submitted questions...I, too, am praying for these jurors to have clarity in this evidence and return a guilty first degree verdict.

I don't think it had anything to do with JM being happy or not. His office will be prosecuting him for the extreme DUI and I think it was a conflict of interest. JMO

The state does not have to prove motive...

Mte.
Premeditation was proven. For the life of me, I can't see how anyone can think this wasn't premeditated. She might've changed weapons, or decided to kill him later than she planned, but plan to kill him she did.

Come on jury!

I think the jury is going to have a big problem with the DT's whole case

They are forgetting that Jodi drove to Travis and they want the jury to believe that a scared Jodi drove there..REALLy!!

ITA. The entire defense was crafted on sand and challenged the State to disprove the existence of unicorns. Anyone with two functioning brain cells should be able to see through it like plastic wrap.

The only thing she was scared of was losing him and being relegated to a nothing life in a hole like Yreka.

As much as I hate that show, I admit that I did watch on Friday (caught up in the buzz of the trial ending) and did get a good laugh out of their special snacks.

I liked that HLN sent a producer out to buy a gas can, with cash, at Walmart then go to a different Walmart and return it without a receipt. They gave her a gift card.

They also explained the return procedure NATIONWIDE.:drumroll:

Agreed...and I am sorry ... I know it is not funny but I chuckle everytime I hear the term Extreme DUI

During closing, Juan said Jodi said she had a cut finger after the killing but I never caught it during the trial. Is it true?

She admitted on cross examination that she injured the finger on June 4.

Nurmi tried to clean it up, but by then she had told so many different stories to so many different people, from Leslie Udy to Ryan Burns to the jury, etc. that it was impossible by that point.

Can someone help me understand the whole idea of Flores and Horn perguring (sp?) themselves (they should be arrested blah blah blah)? I understand about the typo in the end but what about what happened in the beginning? And was Flores brought up on perjury charges? Also, can you believe some people believe that Jodi dragged his body back to the shower to possibly wash off his wounds and apply first aid? Are you kidding me?

The ME’s statement in the autopsy report that the “dura mater” was in tact is understandable but technically in error. After cutting the skull and exposing the brain the first view is the brain enclosed by the dura mater. At that stage of the autopsy the dura is indeed in tact. At this juncture the ME could comment about the presence or absence of a hemispheric subdural or epidural hematoma.

It is only after lifting the brain out of the calvarial vault can one see the injury to the undersurface of the right frontal lobe. Horn was correct in stating a bullet wound to the right forehead will of necessity cause dural injury at the point of bullet entry.
This technicality is a source of embarrassment but not fatal.
Conversely if the dura were totally categorically in tact the gunshot into TA head would have been miraculous. This means that the gunshot fragment would have entered the right frontal fossa, then glanced off of the right frontal dura, then passed parallel along the right frontal bone inner table, then curved around the right frontal lobe, then dived out of the skull near midline at the cribiform plate.

Finally I have argued since this case began in January that the ONLY valid medical expert testimony that goes to the question of the clinical effect of a gunshot wound to the forehead would be a trauma neurosurgeon. Pathologists do NOT treat or manage gunshot wounds to the head EVER. A pathologist really is in NO position to opine about the clinical effects of a gunshot wound to the brain since he does NOT treat or manage gunshot wounds to the head. Horn expressed the common knowledge that bullet fragments tend to tumble as they traverse brain substance and cause concussive shock waves that ripple out and away from the bullet track. It is the neurosurgeon who deals with all sorts of gunshot wounds to the head that wind up being nonfatal.

Horn forcefully reiterated his opinion that TA gunshot would have been incapacitating (but in my opinion certain NOT fatal) when recalled to testify. I will assume or at least hope that he had discussions with his neurosurgeon colleagues confirming this opinion was clinically sound.

You know I was thinking after nurmi was done with his complete closing (torture)
My thoughts were wow! If I was on trial for murder and the dp was on the table, I would be very nervous to have him and wilmott represent me. It was such a sloppy inmature unprepared closing. He contradicted things she admitted to on the stand he outright lied. I guess he was hoping that the jury would have forgotten.

Like the return of the gas cans, the gas she bought in Salt Lake City, her cell phone off,he tried his hardest to push the pedophilia and DV even giving credit to. Laviolette. He totally insulted demarte and dr horn. He tried to infer that horn and Flores intentionally lied! All the while he was lying in his. Closing. The irony is rich. I've done a lot of thinking and REALY feel. Like she will get the murder 1 conviction. She lied to the jury and lied about the fog and PTSD and blah blah blah. Her actions at the DT table was so improper of someone fighting for their lives. I'm glad she's acted up because the jury got a glimpse into the evil side of her. I actually had a night, are last night .i went to bed thinking about this trial.

I'm also so happy and so glad that she was combative and hateful with mr Martinez because we all know that it works against her! Unfortunately she DIDNT care enough to act the part of a real victim.
Well she did did try to act the part for 18 torturous days she was all weepy as she explained her side! I have no doubt that she seduced travis early on after meeting him, as kinky sex has always worked for her in trapping men. looking back she didnt have the ability to be in any relationship for a long term. i was hating to listen to nurmis voice in closing! It was horrible to sit thru.

Than when juan Martinez got up there she totally let Sybil l out of the cage! I literally thought green slime would come out of her mouth and her eyes would roll back! i could feel the presence of evil and i wasnt even close to her.

I know nurmi had no choice but to represent her to the best of his ability and it doesn't seem like he REALY had his whole heart in it.

JUSTICE FOR TRAVIS ALEXANDER WILL PREVAIL

My answers in red. :drumroll:

Thank you AngelWings. The thing about those sites is they say these things with such convictions that I doubt myself. I guess they are all a lot like Jodi-if you say it...it must be true. UNBELIEVABLE the things they come up with. However, they say the same thing about us.

I am sure you have prob discussed this already, but I was reading one of the minute entries on the Maricopa site for this case.....the mitigation specialist submitted to be paid for 100 hours.....for what??? passing notes??

Ok. Can someone please tell me, I might have missed it: What did the Prosecution present to the jury as to Jodi's Motive? Not the premeditation, not speculation, not theory.

What did the State Present to the Jury as per her Motive? TIA

that he was going to expose her...what he was going to expose, we don't know. But JM said after that text exchange on 5/28 she started planning to kill him.

Ok someone Please explain to me what the process is after found guilty? She goes to. Her new home? Or does she stick around at the jail until mitigation is over? I've never followed a mitigation so I'm new to it. How long does it last? Does juan talk too someone familiar with the process
Tia:seeya:

She will stick around until the penalty phase is over..then the judge will sentence her..then she will head to her new home!!
It could last a week or a month..depends on how many people testify.
Juan does a opening/closing/DT to

your last question..does juan talk to someone familiar with the process-I don't understand
