Does anyone know a bit about the river? My understanding is that it winds for miles before meeting the larger River Ouse which itself meets the Trent at the Humber Estuary.

However I do wonder how fast flowing it is, how deep, how difficult is it to search?

It seems to vary in depth at the different monitoring stations currently. At Malton at the moment it is showing 2.7m. But at the next station downstream Kirkham it is 14m (although that may be because it's a sluice gate).

This street view from the bridge near the station is quite close to where Victoria was last seen and gives an idea of the size at that point.

Well,
why would anybody wander by the river bank,
(through thick bushes),
in rain?

If the weather was nice&sunny,
it might have been plausible for me.

But in rain?

Of course,
I must remember that UK's weather is rainy by default,
but still!

Maybe she was meeting somebody there?

If the weather had been nice,
I would have imagined a pleasant picnic by the river with a friend to chat.
Bringing drinks and food.

But in rainy weather?

JMO

Because there would be less people about?

I would say from this latest image she is trying to disguise her appearance very different from the other photo released. Would this lead us to think this is a planned disappearance? JMO
You make a very valid point.
It seems to me that she has either as you say planned her disappearance and the leaving of her possessions along the River Derwent was a throw off scent stunt or she has sadly left her possessions on the riverside so that she would be found if she perhaps planned to end up in the water. This has chilling echoes of the Nicola Bulley case and that is not all it seemed to be either. So perplexing and so darned sad whatever the case may turn out to be.

"North Yorkshire Police say
officers from the underwater search team
will continue to use specialist equipment to search the river,
and an operational support unit will work on land nearby for further clues which may lead them to finding Victoria.

The force says
officers will continue to follow up on sightings,
review CCTV
and speak to key witnesses."

This is an old post it has been since been clarified as her normal attire I understand

Her friends have repeatedly publicly said that she was dressed normally and as usual for a day of errands and visiting family. I know she looks different than her posed photos, but I think we have to take the word of the people who knew her.

My opinion, unfortunately, is that this will be similar to Nicola. Gasses in her submerged body become strong enough over time to release her from whatever tangle she's in underwater and she'll surface. I pray I'm wrong and she just needed a break or something. But I have next to no hope.

So many people have gone looking from her. There were people coming up from as far as Somerset that I've seen on the fb group.

Police are still going strong with the searches.
Missing Victoria: A family update two weeks on since Victoria was reported missing

Victoria Taylor was reported missing on Tuesday 01 October, she was last seen the day before on Monday 30 September.

On the two-week anniversary since Victoria was reported missing, her sisters Emma and Heidi have said: “ There are no words for us to describe how we are feeling as it's ever-changing.

“We have to have some sort of normality for the children. As we know, Vixx is a mum but also an auntie and Halloween is one of her favourite seasons as she is the costume queen!

“ We would like to thank the police teams as they are doing all they can, and we understand that these things take time.

“The local community is amazing, from putting up posters to the daily walks to search for Vixx. We would like to thank the special people, you know who you are.

“The wider community on the Facebook page with over 10,000 people sharing Vixx’s information and sending support has given us comfort. We continue to have hope, as it is all we have at this time.”

Specialist officers continue to support Emma, Heidi and Victoria’s family and we are keeping them updated on the investigation during this distressing time.

Our Head of Local Policing, Chief Superintendent Fiona Willey said: “Over the past fourteen days we have carried out extensive enquiries to try and locate Victoria. Our focus remains on the area of the last sighting and where Victoria’s possessions were found close to the River Derwent.

“To assist with our search capability, we are utilising police search dogs from Northumbria who are specialised in searching for people. The dogs and their handlers are highly trained and are deployed to scour areas that run alongside the River Derwent.

“In addition to this, we continue with expert-led searches by land and water involving multiple teams, including our force drone unit.

“We are continuing to source and act on advice from national policing specialists and are issuing multiple appeals to the public and media for information.”
