No disturbance to the West or East side of the culvert according to the link you provided so regardless of homocide or suicide - how do we think she/or the perp entered the area?

If Cheryl was put in the culvert on the Monday morning she went missing, I'm not sure any disturbance to the ground cover that might have occurred would still be apparent a week later. Especially with the rainfall locals reported happened that week.

Please feel free to use this map to plot her route. What would it look like?

I've read too many hypothesis about "she could have taken a different route", yet no one wants to use the map to illustrate what that means.

Please feel free to use the attached map to illustrate how Cheryl got to the drainage ditch, and please explain why she did not choose a closer ditch to die from hyperventilation.

Disclaimer: I am not sold on suicide but am entertaining the possibility.

I don't know how to annotate the map but I have posted previously that IMO the most likely route would have been east on 236th (perhaps of interest: this would have passed close to her house, which is also close to a large heavily wooded park. Perhaps one of these was her original destination), then south on Cedar. This route has sidewalks the entire way The sidewalk along Cedar stops at 244th.

You may be wondering why she didn't choose to stop where Lyon Creek passes under 236th. That immediate area is very populated with homes and apartments, and there is a lot of car traffic there at rush hour.

You can "walk" this route yourself via Google maps street view. It is interesting. That's how I verified the sidewalks' existence, which I had recalled incorrectly.

I feel that if she did walk to the culvert, she may have started out with no definite decision or plan solidified yet. But the culvert where she ended up is, I believe, the closest relatively secluded one to her car.

Interesting article on how a person can "bypass" the urge to breathe and suicide.

https://kefkaponders.wordpress.com/...ut-unconscious-drowning-via-hyperventilation/

Thank you very much for this. I can certainly see the appeal of this method over cutting or another violent or "messy" method. I have experienced situational depression and, while I haven't been suicidal, I can imagine considering this method as offering a calm and peaceful exit.

It is very interesting to know this is possible.

As for the idea that CD would likely shoot herself over the bag/drowning method...I believe that there's a statistic that many women who commit suicide try to avoid leaving a 'mess' behind for someone to clean up. I don't want to google a link to find that statistic as I'm at work, but I think it may be true. Something to consider.

If it was suicide, I wonder if her original plan was to find a secluded area in the park next to her car, but then perhaps decided there was too much risk of a commuter or "camper" thwarting her plan. I am not sure if there is water in that park, though there certainly are places that would provide coverage.

THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A REPLY TO ANZAC: I think the majority of us here know that TV crime dramas are just fun TV watching. My comment was made in jest. However, I have learned quite a bit about keeping myself safe and trusting my gut after reading Anne Rule true crime books. I seem to have a sixth sense about people anyway, and common sense (don't park next to vans when I'm alone, and the like). That being said, I am bored out of my gourd with Nancy Grace types and crime-specific channels.
I enjoy reading your posts, ANZAC. You definitely know your stuff and have an inside track. I am on one hand fascinated immensely and have a bit of a morbid fascination at that with crime, but if I had to be up close or be a victim, I would be beside myself. Like last night, I was shopping and was 5 minutes away from CD's culvert. It would be so easy for me to drive over and take a look, but there's no way in HECK I would ever do that. I'd rather just read about it and discuss it, and hopefully see it to a SOLID conclusion. That's what's so frustrating here. The not knowing.

Perhaps the bag was used to hyperventilate. Would not have been needed to be secure. Kneeling next to the creek, hyperventilating with a bag until passing out and falling face first in the water.

But it wouldn't produce asphyxia.

it would depend on her will and who she designated beneficiaries, maybe not hubby but someone else down the line that has a nefarious plan for the future, ya never know

I am a generally a very suspicious person, so I understand looking at every angle. However, please consider that Cheryl's only son is on this thread and imagine how hurtful, as a likely designee, this speculation might be, and there is no evidence (at least that I know of) to support it. JMO.

Of course it would...Come on...we're dancing on the head of a pin here. She hyperventilates until passing out in the water. The water pressure then seals the bag over her nose and mouth causing asphyxia..bag leaks and small amount of water is inhaled... Asphyxia and drowning...

Do we have any other family or co-workers that sometimes come here besides the son and the cat breeder? Are there any co-workers or neighbors or family members that come here. Would love to hear more about CD the person and her relationships. This doesn't seem to be a crime of passion as those are usually messy and the person is overkilled. Why is it taking so darn long to look into her computers? Remember when that horrendous sperm donor left his little son in a car to overheat and die? They were able to get into his computer within days? What's the hang-up here? No matter the bag on her head or the freshwater drowning, I want to know what the heck happened to her phone and ID. I don't believe she would go to great lengths to hide these. I think there are perpetrators who like trophies. Like in a movie where the LE walks into the perps dark dank room and there's a collection of driver's licenses on the wall, or a drawer full of phones, etc. I still can't wrap my head around this lady taking her own life, in the manner(s) suggested. IMO.

Breathing into a bag is the cure for hyperventilation. It does not cause hyperventilation.

I wonder if her ID or credit cards will eventual be found at home, like her badge was.

If she committed suicide, wouldn't she want to spare her family the hassle of identity theft and theft of her cards. Somebody could use those for their benefit, and that would be more issues for her family.

The phone she had to use, so that might be elsewhere, but the Id and credit cards, where else could those be?
Nobody has used her cards to my knowledge.

IMOO.

I misunderstood your post. I apologize.

Yes, breathing into a bag does cure hyperventillation...it also cures consciousness...Breathing A bag produces asphyxia...the hyperventilation did not cause the asphyxia..it led to passing out, in the water, sealing the bag over the mouth and nose....asphyxia.............IMO

Maybe I'm just not understanding :) I just don't see what would create a seal. I will agree to disagree.
