How easy would it be to bury her in mud?

Roots, rocks.

If people have not tried digging , try it.

You won't like it

I'm thinking that maybe an attempt was made to bury her, but due to the conditions you mentioned, it might have been a fairly futile effort.

It might go a long way in explaining why they believe this person would have been caked with mud though, a primitive burial attempt.

On the other hand, if this area was as difficult to get to as they stated, then there might have been a lot of slipping and sliding going on just walking there.

Maybe there was evidence that the perp actually slipped down on his knees or possibly fell while trying to get her back in there. The little girl might have been struggling a lot to get loose as well, resulting in even more slipping and sliding.

I am thinking this is now looking like a teen.

I missed it, too, so I'm not sure what was said. Twenty-four hours, give or take, is a rather short window to have DNA results on evidence samples.

JMO

Oh ,sorry, I was confusing.
He said in presser " if we get anything with dna on it to compare them to '' ( if we get something from crime scene with dna to compare to the dna samples that we are collecting) That made me think there was no DNA on the scene or on her body and they're hoping to find some DNA somewhere later. Then, I think Salem and one other poster said something like he said' dna ' and then corrected himself during presser. So I thought they were speculating there was DNA but he's trying to be tightlipped . So I wondered if anyone remembers the ' slip ' up during presser. :) But thank you Bessie. I love your avatar ,,,,, ;)

I missed the slip. I was under the impression that currently , they had no dna to compare the samples to.
Can you paraphrase the slip please? tia

I've been trying to find a transcript or video of this mornings PC. I can't remember his exact wording. It was something about DNA and then he changed it to evidence. Nurse??? Do you remember the exact wording? I just remember I looked up immediately when I heard DNA.....then he backtracked.

I'm watching HLN. They just did a segment on Jenise.
There was a clip of her in a classroom, singing "you are my sunshine"
What a beautiful child.
Heartbreaking.

I was really thinking about covering her body in it so that dogs couldn't sniff her out. The even used heat seeking equipment that first night. Mud would even hide a cooling body after death...
That points to someone older imo, a stranger wouldn't try and hide a body like that, if it was a teen in sucha close knit community another teen knows or suspects she was last with them, since it is sounding more and more like she never made it home Sat. night. I have felt like the dad was alluding to her spending the night with someone... I could be wrong, I thought I heard him say that. Who else would she have spent the night with other than right there in her neighborhhood? They would have found her Sunday night. Imo he never saw her Sat night.

This perp will get busted by trace evidence and their own panic. In fact I do believe the perp will be arrested very soon and knows this.....I think this is sadly going to end with more questions than answers because the perp will take their own life. Jmo

I have wondered if LE is being vague and holding back a LOT of information to keep the perp relaxed enough to think they have no clue they are on to him (i.e. and are perhaps focusing elsewhere) just so he does NOT take his own life before they have their ducks in a row to arrest him......a balancing act.....

I think they will have DNA. If this was someone in the park, I bet they will have DNA.

yes, but I wonder if he's reading here

hmm, it does sound like they might have the muddy clothing. How would they know someone threw out something that was their favorite old thing?
What could that be? A ball cap? Belt buckle? How "old" could it be if this were a teenager?
Yeah, I.think they have some items... moo

Old jeans?

There is a creek and ravine nearby. It has not rained in a long time. Not enough to make mud. It's been in the 70-80's for several weeks.

Scarlett - we all know you think she was buried. You keep repeating the same things.

LE has said she was in the bushes.

Yes, it has been unusually hot lately. No rain at all.

Do we know how many agencies are working on this at this point? Local Kitsap police and FBI for sure.. Anyone else?

Does anyone know if the dogs are still out there looking for anything?

No, no. I was the one who wasn't clear.

I meant that I missed "the slip", not the presser. Anyway, I think it's too soon to tell whether or not DNA evidence is present because the lab analyses are not complete. JMO

That is why I believe she was buried. If they are saying LOTS OF MUD, That to me would not just be hiking up and dumping her little body. To get really really muddy they would have had to been active with the dirt and mud.

What has the temps been out there?

I might have to disagree on this one friend. Then why would LE say "in the bushes"? Temps between 70-90 in Seattle, i imagine similar in Bremerton. I think perp might have either:

a) dispose of her in the bushes, literally, or
b) cover her body with leaves and other debris

but buried? unlikely.
