Pardon me if this has already been posted. But on the link below, is Whitney Houston's performance at the '94 Grammys with "I Will Always Love you," one of my all time favorites (late hubby and I used to dance to this all the time :)) and then another video with her singing "One Moment In Time," (how fitting for Ms. Houston )

I loved, loved, loved Whitney Houston. I fortunately was able to see her in concert one time. What a dynamic performer.

OTOH, my daughter recently, within last year, waited on Ms. Houston and her, assistant, for about an hour one day. It was,.........quite an experience.

I will remember Ms. Houston and what a fantastic performer she was. I'm not going to dwell on the details of the media circus they're sure to make of the circumstances surrounding her passing.

For me, this is a time to remember how much Whitney gave to the world of music. She will be missed by many.

My husband and I listened for the last two hours of her music and so many other greats. It was our personal tribute to Whitney. Such a loss....
She gave so much that she never knew and could never come to terms with

It's just flat out tragic

You will be missed Whitney but remembered forever

May she find peace and joy now in death, which so eluded her in life. One of the worlds all time greatest voices, a gift and legend in our time. Go with God Whitney . . Eternal rest grant to her Lord. Prayers for her family and friends.

I don't know what the death certificate will read, but crack cocaine killed Whitney Houston.

I respectfully disagree. It wasn't a fast way to kill someone but Bobby Brown is responsible for ruining her, and her voice, and her life, and causing her death. JMO

That totally came from drug addiction, I think. It's common with drug addicts. I remember her as sweet before she got into that mess.

To me she seemed like the really popular girl in school. Liked by everyone, but could talk easily with the janitor too. She seemed wholesome and sweet. Then she met Bobby Brown and that was the beginning of the end. I guess it was the popular girl being attracted to the bad boy in school. Getting the courage up to leave him took much longer than it should have and ruined her life. JMO

Her beauty and gifts from God truly radiated from within her.. Her break out in the 80's she changed and helped create what became an explosion in pop culture... That young, flawless beauty in the tight red dress, and the extra long spiral curls that made the gorgeous blonde mane of hair be the icing on the cake as she sang "Oh I wanna dance with somebody" as the confetti whirled around her.. After that breakout she literally couldn't put out a dud song for decades to come... Only hits and more hits!!!! Culminating in what came to be.. the end all.. Be all.. song of all times... "I will always love you" along with starring with Costner in "The bodyguard" one of my all time favorites that to this very day in this house it is a very regularly watched and enjoyed movie.. ABSOLUTELY love it.. And there's just something about it that while I realize it to be a cheezy film I love it and it truly marks one of the very last times that Whitney did have it all together, and was stunningly beautiful, and her voice was at peak level with goosebumps all around for any who listen to her sing during this time..

After this time Whitney was on the backward, downhill, spiral from that moment on as she was married to Bobby and baby on the way by the time "The bodyguard " hit theaters during the holidays of that year..

Didn't she almost have it all?.. I'm so very saddened that we have another one gone too soon and I know without a single doubt that it's drugs that killed this woman who seemed to have it all.. Yet still struggled fiercely with her demons..

Rest in Peace, Whitney and I pray that you all's daughter will rise above all that she's witnessed in growing up with both parents active drug users for a good portion of her life.. God bless her...

I remember watching someone auditioning for American Idol, and they asked who the contestant thought she sounded like. She said Whitney Houston. The look on Simon Cowell's face was priceless. He looked like someone had just said they think they're as smart as Steven Hawking. He looked at her and, IIRC, said something to the effect of; "Ok, you just compared yourself to one of the greatest voices ever, go ahead."

Of course she didn't go to Hollywood.

Whitney Houston became an industry commodity far too soon.

She was a shy girl when first with Clive Davis, and stayed that way in her early years of sudden success.

They sang her to death then, or her voice anyway. Had they instead directed her to a throat specialist, the nodules on her cords could have been resolved. Instead, they worked her hard and the nodules became nodes requiring surgery. No such operation leaves a vocal gift untouched.

RIP Whitney...you gave it all for us to hear your gift as you shared it

~jmo/fwiw, with help from one sitting next to me who knows the story~

Do you have a link for her throat surgery. I can't find anything about it, thanks.

On this night I choose to remember the beautiful Witney with the amazing voice, and not the ugly side of any drug addiction.

RIP, Witney Houston. GB Miss Cissy (her mother), and Bobbi Kristina (her only child).

CNN is killing me!
Who did Whitney meet at the throat Dr. 3 days ago and tell to carry the torch?
Adelle- sp?

Along with tonight having been a tribute to her, this sounds kinda bad. :(
Did she just give up?

No, it was NOT Adelle! It was the girl who just won the X-Factor - can't remember her name, but I heard the same thing!

ETA - It was not Adelle!!!!! Adelle did have throat surgery, but she's had many records out. Halt that rumor! lol It was the girl who just won the American X-Factor. Melanie Amaro

Adele is a Grammy pick...

I turned-off CNN during Jermaine's call, altho it was pointed-out to me from the one near me that he did make one good point.

Not sure what you had heard but I'm most definitely interested. Thank you. :-)

That comment sounds so ominous, like Whitney knew she wasn't going to be around. Coupled with her reported behavior dancing and skipping...
my hinky meter is tapped out.

The visibly bloated singer displayed erratic behavior throughout the afternoon -- flailing her hands frenetically as she spoke to Brandy and Monica, skipping around the ballroom in a child-like fashion...

oh my!

You know, I'm just saying...I'm one year younger than Whitney, and I have been known to appear bloated on occasion. Bloating happens. And I have flailed my arms and skipped around in a child like fashion when I'm happy. Quotes in the media like this just kill me.

Me too, but I didn't drop dead a few hours later AND there weren't cameras
around needing to avoid my odd behavior.
Maybe it wasn't at rehearsals today~ I may have read it wrong
(no handstands though) I'd break a wrist. *maybe a cartwheel??

:seeya: Hey gngr! :blushing: I hope you don't think I was picking on you! I was picking on the media. Sometimes the things they write just crack me up - because what woman of her age has not been bloated at one time or the other? And we all know Whitney is very animated, so why would flailing her arms seem erratic.

Oh dear, was just watching "Fashion Police" from last night and they had a photo of Whitney on there as one of the "fashion don'ts"...talk about bad timing. Taped earlier this week...
