Im going to be very interested in hearing which version of the 911 recording they start with on the CBS documentary. I really hope they cover the first part of the call as well as the end that everyone talks about. The most complete version of the recording that has been made public is the one Tricia got and is loaded on ACR (
http://www.acandyrose.com/patsy911-FFJ.mp3). It is a total length of 1:35.66 (1 minute, 35.66 seconds). Unfortunately the most controversial section at the end is partially erased with white noise recorded over it. My understanding is that this is how it was received from Mary Lacy. But that version also includes the very telling (IMO) beginning of the recording where Patsy is speaking to someone else (Burke, I think) before she realizes the call has been answered by the 911 operator. Other versions are floating around with either the beginning or the end completely cut off.
What I find interesting is that Paula Woodward (thats right -- Ill write her name instead of using only initials) has a version on her book's website that is a total of 1:13.67 (
http://www.wehaveyourdaughter.net/911-call). Its been cleaned up a bit with some of the background noise stripped out, but why is it 22 seconds shorter? I compared it to the original version and found that the first 13 seconds and the last 9 seconds have been removed.
Wondering where her version was stored in order to link directly to it in this post, I looked at the HTML source for her page that has it linked. Guess where her version comes from. Heres the direct link that is programmed into her website page:
