Why does Websleuths take so long to load?

I have been having this trouble for the past week or more. At the bottom left hand corner of each page it says, "Looking for r1-ads.ace.advertising.com".
so I googled, found an e-mail to connect to, relayed my difficulties, and received a reply that said basically, "It's not our problem".
So I went to my BIL who is a computer whiz, he said there is a dead ad, that I should go to advertising.com and tell them about it.
They wouldn't accept my message.
I am so frustrated, and don't know what else to do!
Sorry for the rant...but I am glad that other people are having problems too!
(not that I WANT you to have problems! (-: )

add me to the list of WSers with issues today.

I doubt this has anything to do with ads. I usually see that same loading message and it just means your router or modem is loading the page with ads on it.

Today it just seems a little slower and I have gotten that Server Timeout message, which is new for me. Maybe there's some maintenance going on?

Instead of speculating, is there a better place than here to get an answer? (I love WS, never gonna leave unless get kicked out, so, not trying to make waves).

I've been having difficulties the last few days. At first, I thought it must've been our server at work but the same thing happens at home so I know it's not my computers.

I'm not sure if it's the ads or a perhaps just a recently added one that is causing it slow to load. I've had to close the window many times or refresh.

Very frustrating. Hope there is a solution soon.

I don't think it has anything to do with ads either.
When I have a problem I try the website "downforeveryoneorjustme.com" and it's says"'its not just you Websleuths is down". Then Websleuths pops right back on again. Its gotten worse this evening. On off on off over and over.

:waitasec: I'm getting right the opposite...downforeveryone says it's just me. But then after a few tries I finally manage to bring up the page.

I know what you mean. The same thing happened to me when it was going on and off so fast that it would be back up before you could spit. It looks like its happening to everyone using the site so I wouldn't worry about anything on your end. In fact its been smooth sailing for a while now.

Spoke too soon. Just as I hit preview post, down went WS.

It's not just you! http://websleuths.com looks down from here.

Not to put too fine of a point on it, but WS over the last half hour has been approximating its performance on the night it went down for three hours.

I'm having slow-loading issues today.

Another thing that really annoys me is that when I click onto a thread (whether it be page 1 or page 25, doesn't matter) and start scrolling up to read posts, after about 30 seconds, it brings me back down to the very last post. VERY annoying, especially if I have just spent time scrolling up, up, up. Then it brings me down and I can't remember where I was.... why is this?? Anyone else??

Hopeful, I don't know what might be happening on your end? :waitasec:

I've been on the forum most of the day using two different computers and haven't had any problems.

Possible answer. If you're clicking on the the blue button with a down pointing V in it, that's the problem. That button is to take you to the first post that's been made in a thread since you last logged into the site. When the page finishes loading, it goes to that post. If you're just wanting to go to the last page of a thread, just click on the 'last page' link under the thread title instead.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. I always just go to the last page by clicking on that page number or clicking on "Last Page" (I think that's what it says). Oh well, not like it's a huge issue. I still come here 15,436 times a day anyway. :D

I didn't know about that site, but it is going to save me a lot of aggravation in the future!
