I recalled reading that Chandler was filing a no-merit notice with the appellate in March 2023 as a formality to meet the deadline but never checked on the status after that.
According to
state statutes, a no-merit report identifies anything that “might arguably support the appeal and discuss the reasons why each identified issue lacks merit.” The report may indicate an attorney did not find grounds for an appeal, but that the defendant wishes for the court to review the case.
From the WI appellate record, it appears there were two appellate case numbers opened including Appeal Number 2023AP000547-CRNM which was voluntarily dismissed on 4/18/23.
The second Appeal Number 2023AP000847-CRNM was filed on 5/11/23 followed by transcript and sealed docs filed, Motions to extend time, and the No Merit brief submitted on 4/8/24.
I truly can't imagine what claim CH would like for the 3 Judge panel to review on his behalf.
