Tuesday marks six months since Elijah Vue was reported missing in Two Rivers. His Amber Alert is the longest actively running in the country.

[...]

The 3-year-old will soon turn 4. A lot of people on social media say they’re honoring him by keeping him top-of-mind, wearing blue -- his favorite color -- and turning on their porch lights.

[...]

You can still lend a helping hand. The Two Rivers Police Department has two donation funds. One is to increase the reward for information leading to finding Elijah. The other is to help pay for the searches and investigation into his disappearance.

Elijah Vue has now been missing for six months, and in addition to the anniversary, Tuesday was also his birthday.

The toddler is now four years old, and Pam Knoop and Dan Pagel, neighbors in the Wisconsin Dells apartment complex where he lived, had never spent one of his birthdays without him.

[...]

“I went to an area they had already searched. They told me there was snow on the ground when they searched there,” she said. “It was very unusual to find a bunch of buried towels, a child’s sweatshirt, a glove, the glove with bleach stains, and the fact that they missed it is a little bit devastating. It just [began with] a little cloth sticking out of the hole, and [what followed] was obviously stuff that was intentionally buried.”

[...]

“The next time I went there, my dog found a carcass of an animal in the water, and I went, ‘I’m done. I don’t want to find my grandson like that.’”

“We are confident that our investigation will ultimately reveal the truth of Elijah’s disappearance,” Raatz added.

Raatz said investigators continue to analyze “extensive amounts of data” from searches done on land, water and by air by private search-and-rescue groups. The analysis utilizes “specialized equipment and technology such as software designed to detect anomalies in the earth,” he said.

“In the coming weeks, we plan to continue our search efforts using additional aerial searches with this technology,” Raatz added.

UPDATE at 4:00 p.m. CST on August 21, 2024: Elijah Vue’s 4th birthday — August 20, 2024 — is the same day as the six-month mark since he went missing out of Two Rivers, Wisconsin. To honor the missing boy and highlight that he is not forgotten, Vue’s family and community are holding a public birthday celebration in Appleton.

The post said the department had gotten several inquiries about it from people who wanted to make sure it wasn't a scam.

"The family has asked us to pass on that all are welcome attend (sic)," the post said.

Some people in attendance came from Facebook groups, meeting each other in person for the first time and looking to make some light out of a difficult situation and inspire hope.

“We are still holding on to hope, one way or another. We’re holding on to hope that we’ll find him,” said Michele Ramsden, the event organizer. “People don’t know each other, they don’t know Elijah, many of us have never met him, but we’re here for him.”

God bless these searchers

Many are coming to terms with the fact that Vue may not be alive.

“It would be foolish for us to say he’s certainly alive. Statistically, that’s probably not the case, but we’re obviously hopeful,” said Two Rivers Police Capt., Andrew Raatz on Tuesday, August 20th. “Could he still be alive? Certainly. We have to be realistic about it as well. At this point, we’re still looking for Elijah.”

Action 2 News has learned of a letter handwritten by Katrina Baur from jail to a Manitowoc County judge.

In the letter, Baur asks the judge to clarify an order he made earlier this month, allowing contact with her young daughter.

AUG 30, 2024
...Katrina Baur sent a letter to Judge Robert Dewane regarding his recent ruling on August 7th.

Dewane responded to the letter saying that for reasons stated earlier this month, Baur’s bond is still denied, and she still can’t have any contact with anyone under the age of 18.

However, she will now be able to visit with her kids per this being a CHIPS case.

The law is the law, I know, but I just resent so much that she has rights when darling little Elijah never seemed to have any. Ugh.

There can't be any peace around this case until he is found, at least not for me. How do we simply forget and move on?

Editing to add, this is the same woman who thought it was fine to leave her six-year-old daughter locked in a car while she went inside Vang's apartment for a quickie on a cold February night.

Is this the same area where the found his blanket - the red and white checkered blanket? He's not in that area - that is just where someone disposed of his stuff but I feel he is close by - in that area.

Katrina knows what happened and where he is at... She more than likely watched Vang. She's been a victim of abuse, even prior to having a relationship with Vang. She won't give Vang until she knows she is safe. He has more than likely has abused her as well - along with the alleged drug use. Threats, emotional, physical, financial, withhold drugs, sexual, abuse. And I am not condoning her behavior but looking at it from a different perspective. Battered Women's Syndrome, Stockholm Syndrome, other mental health issues.

Vang has a history of human trafficking and claimed he gave him to someone else, but I don't believe that story. Then again, anything is possible.

Does anyone know if they checked the little Manitowoc River that flows in the area where they found his blanket and other buried items?
Do we know that the other buried items that his grandmother found were his? The way you worded your post makes it sound like they were his. I haven't heard that so am curious about that. Just that she found stuff which made her wonder why LE hadn't found it.

I've never read Vang claimed he gave the child to someone else. Do you have a link for that information? Thanks.

They discovered a human skull, bones, and a diaper. :(

I can't figure out how to grab a URL for the post (it's usually not this difficult!!!) so this will have to do. You'll have to click on 'See More' at the bottom of Dan O'Donnell's original post to see the info about the bones and diaper.

EXCLUSIVE: Skeletal remains of a small child have been found at Girl Scout Camp Manitou-Two Rivers that investigators believe are those of Elijah Vue, a three-year-old boy missing since February.

The camp is located near a home once shared by Elijah, his mother Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend Jesse Vang, who was the last person to see Elijah alive.

Both Baur and Vang are charged with child neglect in connection with Elijah's disappearance and both have denied knowledge of his whereabouts. Vang told police Elijah must have snuck out of the house while Vang was napping.

Investigators searched the camp twice, but because of its massive size did not find the body, which was found Saturday in what sources call a "remote area."

Searchers recovered a skull that a doctor confirmed to be human, assorted other bones, and a diaper.

Efforts to identify the remains are ongoing, but the working theory appears to be that they belong to Elijah Vue.
