9/9/20 Update: Lawyers debated whether sheriff's officials had the right to seize items from the house where Ethan lived. The motion by Hauschultz is to throw out some evidence collected from his town of Newton home is one of several legal issues to be untangled in a Manitowoc County courtroom in the coming months. Attorneys for the prosecution and defense spent more than three hours Wednesday hearing from two sheriff's detectives who visited the Hauschultz house. Hauschultz's lawyer, Donna Kuchler, said seizure of objects from the back yard was illegal because Hauschultz revoked permission to search. Detective Mike Herrmann & now-retired Detective James Michael said Herrmann collected Ethan's clothing from a first-floor bathroom with Timothy's permission. At that point, police had yet to obtain a search warrant. Next motion hearing on 10/26/20.
