Welcome to Websleuths, SandyToes. Great first post!My 1st Post: THANK THE LORD
Or maybe God answered the prayers of many many people. This is almost an unsolvable crime. Which is why I dropped off the thread a month ago. There was no evidence. There was no family or friend conflicts. No romantic other. No electronic evidence. No bad players.
It's almost like a complete stranger pulled up to the house in the middle of the night, guns blazing, took Jamie, and was gone in minutes. Guy is off the radar and has a house to keep a captive. He preplanned everything.
There are not many ways this gets solved. Basic police work has little chance.
Maybe somebody phones in a tip about a loner with a house. Maybe the perp slips up and gets arrested.
Or maybe Jamie solves the unsolvable crime herself.
He was not on anyone heres radar before she escaped. Someone just figure out who he was before they made his name public this morning.
Please tell us why he was mentioned. No, he was mentioned in Thread 33, the post was removed of course.
why? It’s an emotional and happy day! For everyone .. even people like us who didn’t know Jayme. I’m happy about it and I’ve been smiling ear to ear about it. Skipping around too... Even the FBI agent was finally smiling.. ITS THE BEST DAY EVER!SOMEONE needs to take Sheriff Fitzgerald aside and tell him to knock it down about 10 pegs. He cannot present himself this way at 4pm.
oh weird, LE said he lived there alone? guess i missed that. what in the world...Proactive. Planned ahead. Lived 70 miles away in a remote run down cabin in the woods. Lived there alone. Not employed.
Military haircut?
I thought I heard Jake Thomas Patterson too.
What kind of car was he driving?Jacob Patterson

Was the make and model of the perp's vehicle mentioned??
I too stepped away because there was nothing new - Jayme is the hero IMO. I wonder if there was a TV and she could watch it occasionally? Something strong in her character kept her going and she apparently saw an opportunity to run and did - and since he was arrested in his vehicle either he was chasing after her to get her back or he was running away since she did. Love that she knew a vehicle description - and wonder if we will see pictures of the vehicles towed? I am also hoping all the speculation about her knowing anyone involved will stop. What was so interesting to me was that the school superintendent representative never said that there would be support people and counselors at the school and how they would take care of the children.
It sounds that way so far. It’s so scary to think he saw her, liked her, wanted her, murdered the obstacles and took her. I just can’t even comprehend that.I think this happened offline, in person. Maybe he went to that casino, maybe he was in Barron for some other unrelated reason and happened to see her in town, at a restaurant, at a dance recital, whatever. Then he planned everything out and returned later.
IMO.
There must be more to it.
I do wonder what that "tie to Barron County" was ?Thanks, Curious Maine.
From the article:
The Barron County Sheriff released the suspect’s name at a morning news conference. In full, it’s Jake Thomas Patterson. He sometimes goes by Jacob Patterson and is from a family with longstanding ties to the rural area about an hour from where Jayme and her family lived. Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald confirmed on January 11, 2019 that Patterson was in custody. He revealed that Jayme was “taken against her will” and was the “only target” of the suspect, whom he alleged “planned his actions and took many proactive steps to hide his identity….Thank you to Jayme for having the will to survive.” He added that “it appears that he concealed her from other people, such as his friends.”
The sheriff said the detectives are trying to figure out how Jayme became the suspect’s target and said he “does have a tie to Barron County” without revealing it. Her murdered parents were not his goal, he said, but he did not release many more details about how Jayme came to be on the radar of the suspect. He said it appears that Jayme was held in only one area, but that was still being investigated. You can see another photo of Jake with his mother and sister later in this article.
