So forgive me if this came up already as I’ve not had time to read every post... but I’m calling Bs on Patterson.

He parroted what the police said in the media. That he was there only about four mins. But that doesn’t explain how neighbors heard the shot that took out James and the one that broke in the door. He was there when the shots went off til a few seconds before cops arrived. That’s gotta be longer than four mins. How long did he sit outside and watch for lights to go off etc?
ITA.
ETA Now we know he did go all through the house, not just five feet in. Now we know there were bloody boot prints. Now we know he shot James through the glass in the door, then shot the door and had to shove it open because James's body was blocking it. Now we know that Denise DID barricade the bathroom door. Now we know Denise made the phone call. I think there will be more changes from what LE reported to what actually happened. MOO.

I agree, I'm sure it's roughly correct. The 4 minutes from the media is a different 4 minutes anyway. The media was talking about the time from the 911 call to police arrival. JP is talking about how long he was there. If he passed the police within seconds of leaving the house, then it had to be more than 4 minutes that he was at the house, but probably not a whole lot longer.
True. He told Denise to hang up the phone, then grabbed Jayme and left. I think it took him a few minutes, maybe as long as ten or fifteen minutes from outside the house until he broke into the bathroom.

Doubtful. The majority of radio listening (these days) is done in cars and people rely on radio for local news, weather, traffic etc. The only non-news that I can think of would be satellite radio (and not sure about that since I don’t have it)
I XM in two of my cars and I know it can be streamed in to smart TV and other devices, but I doubt he's paying for XM radio. Not impossible, though.

He chose not to let her live because he knew Jayme wasn’t going to stay with him if she had a mama bear fighting for her to come home. He didn’t count on the will of the kid to get to extended fam. He also did it to terrorize Jayme into submission.

That's an interesting take, and very valid. On the other hand, I've been wondering if Jayme got the courage to escape because of the knowledge her parents were dead. I'm not sure of the developmental level of a thirteen-year-old--whether still quite child-like, or more realistic and mature. If she were still thinking like a child, and believed her parents were alive, she might have just waited for them to come rescue her, as children usually believe their parents are infallible. Perhaps the certainty that they were dead was what compelled her to give up waiting for somebody else to rescue her and take matters into her own hands. Elizabeth Smart has mentioned being asked why she didn't try to escape. She probably had no reason to believe her parents were not alive and doing everything they could to find and rescue her, which consciously or unconsciously might have influenced her thinking and decision making. If Jayme ever decides to talk publicly about her psychological state while captive and her decision to escape, I will be extremely interested in hearing what she says. MOO.

Can Jake Patterson get a fair trial in the explosive Jayme Closs case?

It could take years for JP to go to trial. Imagine all the motions concerning fair jury selection, his mental health, whether his "I did it" can be admitted....
I’m not concerned about his mental health or confession being admitted. I can’t think of any reason why they should not.

Legally, he’s absolutely not insane, not even close to it.

But you’re almost certainly right, if this goes to trial, it will be a long way off.

I do think there is a good chance that we will see a guilty plea, but who knows.

I used to have shiitzu's. Best alarm system of any dog I've ever had!

My little dog will let me know if anyone passes.
You're right: best alarm systems.
Years ago, living in a Court, all the surrounding homes were robbed one evening.
I asked the Police, why my home, was not touched.
He pointed to my tiny dog, looking up at him.

Screen shots. Glad others do them. From now on, I plan on it.

The complaint. I only read it a dozen times. I am going to find someone who took screen shots, I swear. I realize they can be amended but amendments I always thought were filed but maybe that is incorrect. Or I am losing it, people can feel free to say so. However, I pointed it out and it was discussed back then. That and the two different taping scenarios were the things that stood out. Oh well. It was not even that I questioned her account, I just figured she saw a shadowy figure all in black with a gun coming up the driveway and then said the first time she saw hi was in the bathroom (meaning up close). So it is not that I am questioning her account. It was just a bit of a thing where I thought there must have been moonlight, etc. or a light on. Oh WELL.

I have screenshots of the original complaint. Not sure how to share them since they're downloaded to my computer and not at an official MSM or LE link. In the complaint, it states that Jayme woke up when her dog started barking. She got up to investigate and saw a car without headlights coasting down her driveway. She awakened her parents. She then stated that there was a man at the door with a gun. The next time anyone is reported seeing JP is when JP states that Jayme's father saw him outside from the living room and reportedly thought he was LE. No comments about a shadowy figure walking down the driveway, although JP did state that he parked at the end of the driveway and walked down the sidewalk to their house.

Oh, I don't think you're losing it. Things take hold in the mind, and it's tough later to find out how. Not that I'm bringing up the uncle's disappeared interview again or anything :)

I didn't mean to pin you down or question you, I was genuinely curious because that changes details of the crime a bit, for me.

lol, yes there was that one too, the uncle. i can only come up with one possibility on what i read and what happened. i will leave it for the moment because i hate coming across as i am doubting the veracity of anything, it truly is not my point--it is just maddening when you see something and it is then gone  and I have another couple of nuts in my life who remember it the same:eek:. i have an idea of what may have happened, all good and for the moment i will leave it because the possibility makes enough sense to me to satisfy me for the moment anyhow . :D

Once you tape one area and rip it off, then you must carefully control the tape when you move on to the next area.

He was so comtrolled and calm that he could do this in two pairs of work gloves and so quickly? Nasty

It takes me some major effort to tuck under and keep the end of a roll of scotch tape, packaging tape, duct tape, etc. and that is without gloves. He is quite talented I guess. Eyeroll.

Others can weigh in on this but work gloves to me are (1) the yellow/fuzzy gloves with a red cuff often that are called work gloves/chore gloves; (2) the canvas type, sometimes with a bit of grip on the end/fingers of a few rubber dots, etc. In either case, the finger coverings are not fitted to your fingers, as a pair of for instance leather driving gloves may cling to your fingers and fit well.

It brings a very odd picture to my mind of work gloves and using gorilla tape that just does not work. Of course, maybe he practiced at home for a year... I also still find it interesting that he called it a flattened roll or some such. Adding the adjective seems a bit odd. Maybe he wants them finding the wrong roll if it still existed....? Or maybe I read too much into it...

Edited to correct a wrong word.

I am going to let this go because I am pretty sure I know what happened. And the explanation satisfies me and I have not lost it (even better, I get worried lol). It is not anything done wrong by anyone, nor have I lost it. So it is an explanation I am happy with both ways.

Thank you for also confirming he parked at the end of the driveway also. That was what I had read.

It doesn't say in the complaint that she saw him walking up the driveway. In fact, it says that the first time she saw him was when she was in the bathroom. It does say, though, that she saw him drive up the driveway. Is the walking up the driveway from another source?

Maybe this has been raised, but I just noticed that there is a contradiction in the complaint between Jayme and JP about the duct tape. Jayme says that JP told her mother to tape Jayme's mouth and her mother did it, while JP says that he had to do it.
DC "struggled to tape her daughter" and he did it then - could mean, DC placed only a short piece of tape on Jayme, but he wanted to tape her much more and did it himself then. IMO

I was envisioning along the lines of this type of glove - black, nitrile - mechanics wear them.. police wear them.. other trades wear them ie plumbers, cleaners, fuel people, etc. It would be easy to wear 2 pairs in case one layer became slit somehow, would go with his 'uniform', would still allow agility, and would cover his prints.
DELTA Black Magic glove

I agree with what we know that this is likely. I am trying to come up with a name for him that he would not like lol (not sure probably can't go there on here). I think JTP was a wannabe--wannabe somebody--even if it was criminal--he would have continued... But he failed. Just a wannabe.
Imagine, he would have taken another teen girl after some months for Jayme to have a fellow sufferer. He would have been proud of his "skills" for outdoing LE twice, IMO.
