Welcome, thanks for sharing! I am intrigued by the first video shot of the doorway. You can briefly see inside and there are red and white somethings in the background. Are those evidence markers?

Edit: around the :31 second mark, I tried to add image let me know if it doesn't work
When you lighten the shadows in the background it appears to be a hutch with little knicknack type things on it.

We're not really sure about the whole door kicked in thing. At first MSM story was that dad answered the door when the police arrived, drawing in his final breaths. Then the story was changed to James was deceased when the police entered and the police kicked the door in. And the Chief confirmed that James was deceased when LE arrived, but he won't deny or confirm whether the door had been kicked in or if LE kicked it in when they arrived on scene. So the long and short of it is, it's up to interpretation as to who and when the door was kicked in.

The Sheriff did state that JC's feet were visible in the doorway when officers responded to the scene.

FITZGERALD: Our officers responded, pulled into the driveway, and saw an open door and then saw what they believed to be feet. And then responded up there and found the bodies of James Closs and then went in the house and found Denise Closs.

FITZGERALD: I don`t know exactly where they -- when they picked him up on site. I don`t know if they pulled in the driveway or when they exactly saw them, but the door was ajar.

A screenshot from the clip. (Is this compliant with TOS?)
ETA: Mark ups me.
I've had at least one post deleted in another case for altering a photo, but it would be best to ask a mod as I've seen photos with markups (maps, mainly) all throughout these threads, so the rule may have changed.
MOO

Did I miss something? I thought LE was pretty clear that this is a double homicide. Would you mind sharing your source? TIA!

Sure... here are some quotes from various articles and some links....

Shortly after police check back in with dispatch and the call is updated to double homicide. But its not done until AFTER police locate Denise's body. So if police arriving initially thought dad was a suicide - what made them think so? Suicidal people don't shoot themselves in the foot or the arm... they aim for their heads. :(

How would that happen without the storm door having a bullet hole in it or at least blood splatter?
And how can someone kick in a door without knocking the person out of the way? How can Dad's feet be in the door if the door was kicked in while he was answering the door?
ETA Door would open inward. Storm door outward.

Just toying with ideas - also, is it possible someone close to the house knocked, hid on the side of the deck there and a sniper style shot may have taken dad out (more than two perps?).

In the second video, at the :34 mark, you can see an actual shot of the doorway from the side deck. As stated above, I have been watching a lot of videos this morning and this was the first with a shot from that doorway/patio. In the videos I've been watching from the first day investigators were on the scene, there was a lot of people going in and out of this door and a lot of people standing on the deck looking at evidence and what not.[/QUOTE]

I believe that the most common room to have a slider to the deck is the dining room, or the eat in area of kitchen. The chair that was taken for evidence was clearly a dining type chair, so I believe that something notable happened in that dining area. This would explain all the LE activity seen on that side deck. All IMHO.

If you go to the actual map website and double click on the house I cirled in red, you will see a pop-up showing that the property is owned by Thomas A. and Joan M. Smrekar.
I believe you may have misread my description of the original map.

The whole Closs property is highlighted in orange.

The Smrekar's house is circled in red.

Ah. To me , the Closs area is yellow and the S house is orange.

It looks like the whole wooden door split down the entire length . That seems strange for a thick wooden door

IMO, if LE thought it was used or had potential DNA/evidence, they would have hauled it away for further evaluation.
That is what I am thinking - LE took that bench for further analysis.... leading me to believe they had reason to believe it may have had some evidentiary value.

Thanks. These were from the original 911 call before police arrived at the seen. I think perhaps it was speculation on their part related to something they heard on the 911 call. Upon arrival they realized it wasn't a suicide at all. It may have taken a few minutes to relay the correct information. It's now clearly being investigated as a double homicide.
