Thanks for this. I am mostly just reading these forums but I am also jumping around, reading other things which I only take with a grain of salt b/c who knows what info is really reliable out there. With that being said, I have a question for you other sleuthers. I know a lot of you have been on these boards for a long time and other then following the Stacy Peterson case on here, I really don't know what is normal.

My question is why are we not hearing more from local community, friends, family? There are a lot of missing person cases that would kill to have 1/10 of the media spotlight that this case does and yet, to me, it seems like I cannot find out anything. I am not trying to say anything bad at all about any of the victims families or friends I just think that someone would climb to the tallest mountain and let everybody know everything they can to help the case. Even if it was someone saying, "Hey I saw her 2 days before eating at mcdonalds and she seemed happy" it would be something. all i'm saying is I think its odd. Again, PLEASE don't take it as an attack on anyone.

My guess is that these folks are just terrorized. This is a very small, tight knit community, where nearly everyone knows everyone (and their families). This kind of tragedy has touched them and many of the small and even larger towns around Barron. You wonder now if they have begun to start questioning and wondering about anyone, even those they know, who could have done such an horrific thing. Lack of Trust and increased Fear are huge motivators.

From what the police said the door was ajar when they arrived so it wasn't broken down. It was still upright and still hinged imo

The suspect most likely hit the door on the side that opens and splintered the door jam or casing around the door where the lock or locks are positioned.

Imo
If you see the picture, the wood of the door was split way down about 2 or three inches from the frame, or the jamb.

The wood looked to be about two inches, at least, thick

We can't know 100% where James was standing, by his body position. I've had the misfortune of seeing a gunshot victim, and they can sometimes move more than you think, before they succumb to their wound.

Yes. And it's a Hollywood myth that shooting victims fall backwards. A shot in the front (torso, etc) may cause victim to instinctively place hand on wound and curl, bend/kneel fall forward, etc.

IMO, there's a strong possibility that the door had not been kicked in by anyone. Because it was left ajar, the first responding officer's first impression could have been that it was kicked in by the perp.

I think the perpetrator left in a hurry and they didn't have time to close or lock the door. James could have been shot as the perpetrator was leaving the house (ie, James followed, tried to grab Jayme away from the perp at the door area). There are so many possibilities. MOO

Thats a good question. I wondered if it was shot through, and that's why the family member said that. I don't know what kind of glass is used in those doors, or what a bullet hole would look like in one. Also they didn't mention it in the dispatcher log. It would seem it would have to be open, either with him holding it open with his body or having stepped inside. Jmo
That storm door could have the thing that holds the door open and if he was quiet he could have done that but Dad heard something or he was turning to run when the door was kicked open ? We just don’t know anything about the inside of the house. I still think the suspect could have peeked inside first - assessed the room and made his move IMO and there could be more than 1

So 300 yards, still not a great distance.
"riddled" was from a couple of posts here and I searched it back, seems like it came from DailyMail.
another article says bullet casings were found "strewn throughout the home" Reported Sighting of Missing Wisconsin Teen Jayme Closs in Miami Not Credible, Police Say - NTD.TV
and then this one says they found "multiple casings"

at any rate, it's definitely more than two. So if you hear two shots, why not more? And if you hear shots, why not voices or "commotion"?

BBM: Maybe the two shots were fired outside. I shoot at a range, both outdoor and indoor. Outside sounds louder to me, there's nothing to muffle the sound. Often sounds like a lightning "crack" with lingering echo. Inside, walls absorb the sound/energy.

Maybe the neighbor had the tv on.

Some additional views of the home ...

For 1st time since I arrived in Barron on Oct 15, the mobile crime scene trailer is gone from the Closs family home on Hwy 8. No police presence. No crime scene tape. Not sure what it means in the efforts to #FindJayme Perhaps onto next phase of investigation? #FindJaymeCloss

Technically, it was: "multiple rounds spent". ;)
Yes, that was in the dispatcher report but I was actually referring to the news report from WAEU13. It was from the first day and Fitzgerald said bullet casings. That's why some posters questioned the idea that a shotgun was used, as LE would have said " shells" instead of casings.

You have some good points and thoughts. Question, if James was shot through the door, then the door was kicked open, how did his feet get in the doorway? JMO, but if someone is shot through a door, their body is now behind that door. When the Perp kicks it in, the body goes between the door and wall.

My theory is that James is slightly taller than the window in the door and had to duck to look out. That would mean his legs were bent at the knees slightly when he was shot. His body would be forced backward at the head but his legs would still be slightly bent and end up against the door or the wall near the door. After the door was kicked in, James' feet would fall into the open doorway due to gravity. The door was only said to be ajar so his feet don't have to have been out the door very much. But we also do not know how far out the door his feet were. His feet could have been inches inside the threshold but still visible from outside and appearing in a way that someone approaching would describe him as "dead in the doorway". We just don't know exact positioning.

I think it still can be two, because multiple can mean two or more or it can mean several. I don't think we know for sure how many, as LE has never specified. Jmo

For some reason, this just made a whole new wave of sadness crash across me. Two parents gone, a child missing, a family destroyed; their home is a crime scene. Homes are supposed to be the place where there is laughing, love, memories, comfort and security.

It will never be how it was again. It is unlikely that anybody in the family would keep the house.

Sometimes the oddest news bits break my heart.

The neighbor lives 200 yards away in a well insulated house with a stand of trees between them. And more than likely a forced air furnace.
