I noticed on the school district's website that Jayme had an extended weekend (Friday-Sunday) - I wonder what kind of plans she had on her days off when her parents were at work and there was no school those days.

Knowing kids at that age, I would guess socializing with friends. Their social life is "their life," and if they can't be with friends, they are talking or texting with friends. Jmo

1. The neighbors arrive home at 11:30 pm, do whatever they need to do to prepare for bed, and by 12:15 they are in bed. They hear 2 loud gunshots at 12:30. This tells me that this WAS, in fact, the beginning of the assault. Why ? Because we know (from police logs) that the father was shot as he answered the door. Looking at the door frame on the handle side, we can clearly see damage to the frame... (kicked in, shot in, that part is not really clear at this point.) So, imo , this is where the violence actually started. It's logical, it's backed up by reports, and it's a fact as far as I'm concerned.

2. We now have reports that DC barricaded herself in a room of the house (possibly the bathroom). Do the facts bear that out ? I believe they do, and here's why: we know that police dispatch has an officer initially reporting a suicide, despite the fact that they don't see a gun near James. They search the house, find a barricaded door and have no way of knowing what's on the other side of the door until they gain entry. Once they do gain entry, and find another body without a gun, the scenario quickly changes to homicide. That makes complete sense to me.

3. Inside the barricaded room, LE discovers the cell phone from which Denise called 911.

4. The 911 call was placed at roughly 1 am. LE arrived at the house 4 minutes after that call. Jayme and the suspects are gone. This leads me to believe that the entire incident occurred in roughly a matter of 30 minutes. That is not a lot of time in which to kill 2 people and kidnap another, so, to my mind, no one just hung around assaulting Jayme, eating snacks, chit chatting, etc. etc.

5. It's also not a lot of time to do all that AND ransack the house for valuables or drugs. So not a burglary, imo.

6. I think the sole intent of this horrific incident was to take Jayme. What I can't wrap my head around is why do all THIS to achieve that end ? Is this a young kid obsessed with Jayme who just didn't realize how wrong everything might turn ? Is this a family dispute of some sort ? A disgruntled employee ? Can't get any kind of a mental hit on that.

Excellent post and I agree.

I wonder if the door was chained to open only slightly when Dad opened it and the murderer kicked it open to pop the chain. Also, I wonder if the sounds the neighbor heard were, in fact, the gunshots. Could it have been the door?

Good afternoon. I'm way behind on reading so forgive if this has already been posted but here is a brief video showing the search and talking about one of the therapy dogs sent to Jayme's school:

Hoping today is the day Jayme comes home.

I love the therapy dogs being brought in, I’ve seen this in other cases and you know this has just got to be sooo wonderful for the kids. And everyone, really, teachers included.

Yay doggies!!

I don't think the Sheriff asking the community to come forward with information about the Closs family is all that odd. In addition to finding and catching the person responsible, they will need to establish evidence to prove he or she was responsible. LE may have leads from the community, but not enough to act on. If LE interviewed Mr. Green and he said he barely knew the Closs family and he never had a problem with Mr. Closs, and then LE receives information from Ms. Pink that Mr. Green was always angry at Mr. Closs and they argued at every church picnic, then LE would have new information to bring into their interview of Mr. Green.

This early on I don't think they have a good suspect but I don't think they are out of leads either. It does take time to conduct interviews and then cross-reference information provided and either corroborate or dispute facts that are offered. It sounds like they are working around the clock on it.

Is this her school district? I thought she lived in Barron but went to Cameron...or is it the other way around?

Are there a lot of cornfields around there? I know there was some discussion of this already; I can’t help but think of Mollie Tibbets and Sierah J.

I have been thinking about the post I wrote earlier and should maybe clarify something. I read a local WI news article that said Jamey's mother had Jamey in some sort of religion classes. I remember reading that she dropped her off at these classes. Drawing on my experience working domestic assault/family violence calls I know some parents lack discipline, some are in between, and some are rather Disciplinarian. "IF" there is any truth to the family being reclusive, was Jamey somewhat sheltered and what was her discipline like?

Is it possible she met someone at a religion class that took an extra liking to her? Is it possible she was somewhat sheltered and had a busy social media life to compensate?

<modsnip - rumor, not from allowed source>

Religion classes? Where and when? Ears poking up. Can you please provide a link for this, tia.

I forgot where but last night googling, I read an interview with a relative that said Jayme and her mom were both religious.

That is wonderful to know.

I hope and pray wherever sweet Jayme is she can stay strong relying on her deep faith in God to get through what she may be endurig.

Elizabeth Smart said it was her deep faith in God that sustained her during all of the months she was being held captive and horribly abused.

Imo

<RSBM>Unfortunately one piece of evidence that would likely illuminate a pathway to answering these questions is currently nowhere to be found. That being Jamey's Cell phone. There are of course other ways for experienced investigators to locate digital information but the phone would be pivotal. The data on the cell phone is likely known to pose a risk to the suspect or suspects and so it may have been destroyed.

I agree (100%!) with your speculation and have been focused on any discussion of Jayme’s mobile devices. I hope (and assume) that LE has spoken with her friends as to whether Jayme had any loaner devices or ever used someone else’s phone. It’s going to take a stroke of luck to trace her interactions.

Your explantion makes sense.

What about the multiple casings or whatever they are by the dad? That implies more shots.More than two

I have no idea if anyone shot themselves in a house by me, but I lived in the country in MN and could hear shots from a long ways away. But if course it would depend on the gun,

Even though I hate guns, I would only wonder who was shooting and why. I always thought the country was a perfect place for a murder because no one thinks much of gun shots out in the country no matter what time of year and no matter if it is a legal area to shoot ( there are rules as to how close to a structure. Any structure, Even a shed)

If I heard a lot of shots in an area, I would not walk or drive there. Even though there were too many homes where I lived to allow hunting, they came anyway, They were told to leave but I would never walk outside during hunting season.
It bothers me that the perp left the casings behind. The perp may have been too rushed or not considered the casings. I would know how many shots I had fired and I would want to take them with me and not leave them for LE. Leaving the casings says to me that this may have been a last ditch effort in a crumbling life. The perp may be someone with nothing left to lose, so they are living out a fantasy of abducting JLC and the end will be murder/suicide. Just a gut reaction to leaving the brass...

On a better note, advances in forensics have led to at least two new processes where partial fingerprints or skin cell DNA can potentially be retrieved from spent casings. I hope LE can find something there!

I don't think kicking in a door would be nearly as loud as the gunshots. The houses are not close enough together. Imo

THEORY. ALL SPECULATIVE.

I've wondered if a low life or two might have been driving around in their vehicle drinking, maybe doing some drugs and really needing money they didn't want to earn honestly.
Perhaps, for some reason thought James Closs had been at the casino, if it was open that day and evening, or if he might have said to someone that he'd won some money there recently.

If a couple of dudes with nothing much left to lose were desperate, the primary motive could be home invasion for the purpose of robbery.IF they didn't find what they expected to find, cash wise, they could have strong-armed Denise and James with Jayme hiding in the tub or shower in the bathroom. ( It's where my parents always told me to go in case of severe storms when I lived in their home which had no storm- proofed room).

Most people know how to fortify a door against entry with a chair propped up against the doorknob. It's a very old " trick" I saw my grandmother use when the doors were locked and she thought she heard a noise. Jayme could have taken the chair into the bathroom and used it that way and then attempted to call 911 for help.

Might the Closs case be a home invasion for money based on an erroneous belief that there was a large cash payout from the nearby casino not yet deposited in the bank? Upon not finding it, Jayme, the living witness was taken as ransom ( and probably was tortured).

I mean no disrespect by introducing the topic of a casino and legal gambling. My city area has huge buses that take people to a casino in OK that's run by a Native American reservation. I'd never go, but it's not really flashy and pretty like the casinos in Vegas.
We really have no info for where James Closs was on Sunday. This is an attempt to fill in multiple blanks and have it make sense as well.

Again, all speculative, my opinion, not factual. Not to be copied to any other website, thank you.

Do we know where the neighbors came home from? If it was the casino and they were followed....we could be looking at a wrong house situation. Maybe dad stopped at the casino on the way home and was followed.

ITA! Maybe the "insider" is *as an example only* a file clerk or FedEx delivery guy. IOW, what FBI agent would say “We know 100 percent that Jayme is still alive.” ?? Um, okay.

And what's with the neighbor? Now she's painting the Closs family as reclusive and unfriendly to the neighbors. I won't quote but you can see her comments here:
The Closs Family Was Reclusive Before Murder: 'They Wouldn't Even Come To The Door'

JS needs to stop giving out interviews. MOO.

I totally agree that JS should just stop talking. So what if they weren't friendly with their neighbors? Not many people are these days. It only shows that the neighbors don't know anything about them, so their opinions don't really matter much if they never even really saw the family much.
