Her husband who is her family filed the initial missing persons report.

You are correct that Krista was last SEEN alive by someone other than her spouse on 3/12 however Krista had sent her friend a text message after midnight on 3/13. That text message appeared to have been sent by Krista and not by anyone else.

Was the trip to the tanning salon verified? If I remember correctly, tanning salons, by law, keep a record of customers' visits/minutes tanned/beds used, etc. Is this the last sighting of Krista or was this never verified / fabricated story?

Odd place to stop on the way home for a woman who was supposedly planning to leave her old life behind / run off with a boyfriend.

Angie called Krista’s husband Jason, and he said that after seven days of no contact, he’d walked into the Plover Police Department to report his wife as missing.

Odd that the friends reached out to the husband vs. the other way around. I would think the husband, knowing she had left, would be reaching out to Krista's friends searching for answers/confirmation of her safety & whereabouts, even if he had an idea she'd left him for the boyfriend.
Additionally, a police report made seven days later, and only after her friend(s) have called him inquiring about Krista is suspicious at best.

Dateline reached out to Jason Sypher for comment, but had yet to hear back as of Monday evening.

Not surprising.

Angie said she knew Krista had been seeing someone other than Jason – and Jason knew, too. According to Angie, Jason had even recently befriended the man, Corey Kitowski.

Recently as in the time since Krista's disappearance or prior to? Even for a small town, this friendship seems very odd to me. I would think that the boyfriend would likely suspect the husband, and the husband would likely suspect the boyfriend. Yet a friendship either began or continued? :thinking:

“We had not been dating for a while. After talking with her husband, it was apparent that she was not getting a divorce like she had told me,” Corey said.

So, the husband and the boyfriend at least talked to one another previously? Did the husband realize at that time that he was talking to THE boyfriend?

Krista’s three kids, the eldest of whom is from a previous relationship, are now under the primary custody of her parents in their hometown of Plover, Wisconsin. Angie says they visit their dad Jason -- who has since moved to Chicago, Illinois -- on the weekends.

He's moved and left the two biological children and oldest step-child with his in-laws? Why? I can understand with the older child not being his how keeping custody could be an uphill battle, but his biological children? Their mother is missing, he moves to Chicago? Was this a decision made by courts? Do the in-laws suspect him, therefore wanted custody? Did he fight it or willingly agree to those arrangements? Was this temporary?

I have to say, this is the first time I've read a missing person FB and seen family members basically say, stop we got this don't worry about it. If we hear from her we will let you know.
Most families relish the attention because it gets the story and pictures out there.
Time is not their friend...she was missing a WEEK before ever reported! So either she if she left or a perp if she is harmed has had a huge advantage.

Reading through all the posts on Krista here on Websleuths-

According to statements further up it has been stated as not true that the close family members indeed want help. I am not sure who is in charge of the missing page but it seems either not very close family members or could just be friends of Krista.

As time has gone on things may have changed.

I am pretty sure she is the one that has been running the page (though she may get some help from another friend as well). She is the one with seemingly the most information and insight into what was going on with Krista and her life. However, we didn't learn of several things until almost a year later which usually isn't helpful and likely means there is more we don't know about Krista.

I agree with this 100%. As usual, nice analysis.

On another note,
I still find the family's initial (and continued?) reluctance to spread the word about Krista's disappearance very perplexing. It seems like the person(s) running the page have been very much limited in what they felt they could do or say because of the family. An opportunity for a free billboard with Krista's missing poster had to be turned down apparently due to respecting/following the family's wishes as well. The reason given seems to be because of the children. What have the children been told the last year? What were they told those first 7 days? Seems like an odd reason.

The whole thing is very odd.

I guess at this point what would be most helpful is if LE could tell us where her phone pinged last and the last known movements of her phone. Also, the time and date of the last contact she had with anyone via phone. And while I am at it, whether or not she had a burner phone (which is not uncommon in infidelity situations). I am rather surprised that we really don't know her movements from say the Friday before she disappeared to the day she was last seen by someone other than her husband. As Miss Marlowe very importantly points out, there should be ways to confirm her alleged movements and whereabouts on the day she allegedly went missing.

Honestly, I don't believe for one second that Krista and Corey went to being "just friends" because based on what Corey said that would be his idea not Krista's which is rather uncommon in the real world and as long as the kitchen was open I am sure he was ordering from the menu.

It is pretty uncommon for the family of a missing person to not want as much coverage of their missing loved one and their photo and information out there as far and wide as possible. I would think the children should know something by now since it would be very hard in a town/area that size for the news concerning the landfill search to not get back to them.

Uh..... Some very interesting replies and replies to replies from early-on in the case on the Bring Krista Home page (dated March 24, 2017)

-References to friendship requests received on March 13.

-Looks like the boyfriend replies to a reply made by someone else about not believing Krista left at her own free will.

(ETA: I had to correct the above as I previously stated it was a comment about looking into the husband but I was mistaken, it was a comment about her not leaving on her own free will)

- Mentions Krista's work. (And obviously missing work that day) I'm gathering she must have worked at a pre-school / Daycare or school.

-Also mentions her having plans to return to the gym (the MSM article also mentioned a foot injury keeping her away from the gym for some time)

Would school have contacted her husband after her not showing up for work? If boyfriend is a local guy or say....one town over, wouldn't the husband have found it odd she wasn't showing up to work as expected, especially if she wouldn't have to leave the state or even the area to BE with her boyfriend?

It's not even a good lie, IMO.

While, no suspects have been named over the past 12 months, Chief Dan Ault said he is confident the case will be solved.
"Any message that I would send out there is it's just a matter of time and I'm confident we'll have a resolution," Chief Ault said.

Yes, that would be where I am at. I think they need the body, or at least will wait as long as they can in the hope of finding her body before attempting a no-body case.

Defamatory in what way? From the preview video it appears to be her friends and her family talking. All of the information in this case (so far) concerning what was going on in Krista's life prior to her disappearance is coming from her friends speaking to the media as LE isn't offering much information at all and that included all the information we have about her relationship with the other guy who also has spoken to the media. I don't know how much more defamatory it could get.

Hopefully there can be something in it that can lead to a tip that will lead LE to Krista.
