Father says medical examiner told him Major Harris was shot in head

The father of 3-year-old Major Harris said Friday the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office told him his son was shot in the head.

"I want justice for my son," Carlton Harris said.

Harris said he plans to bury his son by his mother.

Harris criticized the Milwaukee Police Department and asked people to "pray for this city."

The family of Mallery M. Muenzenberger and Major Harris released another statement Friday morning after learning of the death of the 3-year-old boy.

"On behalf of the family of Mallery M. Muenzenberger and Major Harris we again want to thank everyone who has helped in the search. We also want you all to know how much your thoughts and prayers have touched us. Our family is heartbroken and devastated beyond belief. We had so much hope for the return of our beautiful Major, that was shattered yesterday. We have been left with so many unanswered questions. Major's grandparents (Mallery’s father and step- mother) are holding to their last few memories of the time spent together before this horrible tragedy began to unfold. Major was with his grandparent’s helping harvest the garden, gather eggs from the chickens and go fishing. Mallery’s last words to her father were, 'I love you Dad.'

"Our wishes are to have them buried together. One of Mallery's favorite songs was "In Arms of the Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. Our hope is our two angels rest in peace together.

The outpouring from the community both in the Lacrosse area and Milwaukee has been tremendous and appreciated. Please pray for all of our families and that justice is served for those involved in this heinous tragedy. "

Ugh. A little baby, this is horrendous. If Jaheem was responsible, it would explain why he killed himself when authorities caught up with him.

So heartbreaking to hear this. It takes a certain kind of evil to do this to a child.:(

We are experiencing our own heartbreak in Aus with the abduction of a 4 y/o girl. The ending won't be what we hoped for.

This is very rare for us to experience this type of crime, let alone the shooting of an innocent 3y/o.

Tragic beyond belief.:(

So many horrific crimes against innocent babies this week, it just makes me want to cry because they were just starting out what could have been such incredible lives :(

Father of murdered 3-year-old boy says he is 'furious' at police department

His father, Carlton Harris, and some community members are criticizing police for not searching harder for the boy earlier on.

"I'm not angry, I'm not upset, I'm furious at this department, period," he said. "I want justice for my son, and like I said, everybody else who they've been doing this to. We're tired. As a people, we're tired. Because I don't see, they search high and low for white kids, they jump in rivers for white kids, but what about us, are we not important?"

A person of interest in the mother's death -- who is also a suspect in the boy's disappearance -- killed himself on Sunday.

Two men were taken into custody in the investigation into the mother's death, but no charges have been filed.

Honestly, It feels like every week I'm reading about children being killed in the US, mostly from a drive by shooting in certain cities.

I know it's not the only country that child deaths happen, but we get a lot of US news here. Tragic. What is going on in the world where a child's life seems so little.:(
