If he 'didn't want her to suffer' maybe - just maybe- he shouldn't have shot her in the face. Repeatedly.

Just sayin'............

It really is an interesting video. I might have to go back and watch again but it seems he described himself as a "hippy" (which is sort of amusing to me), as being layed back, BUT kind of angry. This was before he joined the Marines. I never knew an angry hippy. Stoned maybe, cuckoo maybe, but not really angry.

I think he was 'damaged' before he joined the Marines and before he ever set foot in Iraq and while there is no doubt he was injured in the war I am not sure I completely believe his war stories. Just my opinion, none of which makes a particle of difference.

Respectfully snipped/bolded by me

I didn't watch the video, but the details of how he "allegedly" murdered his wife in cold blood make me agree with you completely.

What an absolute piece of trash. :furious:
Someone commented that the local PD doesn't have him in custody, but rather, the U.S. something or other does? I can imagine that this fallen officer's comrades at the PD would like to have this *expletive* alone in a room, just for a few minutes...
Knowing how shoddy domestic violence laws are, I imagine reporting the previous DV wouldn't have been enough to save her. Breaks my heart.
RIP, Officer.

Surveillance video showed a vehicle that matches his in the area near the time of the shooting, and detectives who searched the couple's home found a gun in the attic that fires ammunition matching the bullet casings found at the scene. They also found Jennifer Sebena's service weapon hidden in the attic.

There is video with a clip of his booking photo (about 1:42) and he looks angry. Maybe she was going to leave him.

Odd picture of the killer in court. He is in a wheel chair and handcuffed. No shirt but some type of possible bullet proof vest and some straps (possibly taser hookup) to his upper arms. He still looks angry to me.

He looks to be wearing a 'suicide suit' - his legs look bare to me (although there's shading over the photo) and if I am not mistaken, the straps on his arms are velcro straps which hold his arms back and attach to the handle/ frame of the wheelchair. A 'suicide suit' is worn by prisoners who cannot be trusted with removable clothing - it is EXTREMELY thick and has no straps, etc. and so cannot be fashioned into any type of noose.

And yeah - he looks angry - angry he got caught IMHO!!

So sad for this woman's family. I'm curious, though...How is it that no one at the fire station heard anything?

Small town - maybe an unmanned volunteer fire department?

No, they actually have a fair-sized fire department. From their web site:
Currently, we employ 99 personnel that house three fire stations and serve approximately 47,000 residents in a 13 square mile area.

Jennifer was murdered outside Fire Station 1, on Underwood Ave. It's much larger than I'd pictured (Photos at link.) Maybe it was large enough that the area where she was shot was far enough away from where the firefighters were that they couldn't hear it? It does seem odd that the shots weren't heard.
Someone phoned in that they thought they'd heard shots, but I don't know if that was a firefighter.

I wonder if it was because she was a police officer and was ashamed/ embarrassed about it?

I'm sure that was part of it--I once had to file for a restraining order against a creepy stalker ex-boyfriend. I was in law school at the time, and also working for an attorney (who often dealt with domestic violence/restraining orders)--I couldn't tell my boss what was going on until I had to ask off of work for the hearing, because I was so embarrassed/ashamed about the whole thing.

Also remember--there was a recent domestic violence shooting at a Brookfield salon that claimed several lives. The perpetrator there lived in Brown Deer (not too far away from 'Tosa), and there were many news stories about how there were many domestic violence calls, but the perpetrator was never arrested by the police in that jurisdiction. In particular, there was one incident where there was a standoff with police...but the cops just ended up leaving (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/22/radcliffe-haughton-profile-abuse_n_2000235.html). Haughton was a former Marine--I finally came to the (totally unsubstantiated, this is only my assumption) conclusion that the reason the cops left in that instance was that they were afraid that a former military guy was trying to commit suicide-by-cop, and that instead of dealing with the domestic violence issues, they thought the best thing to do was just leave.

I may be way off in thinking there may be a link between how the cops in one jurisdiction dealt with repeated domestic violence calls, and how a copy in a near-by jurisdiction reported (or didn't report) domestic violence...but I do wonder if there is a connection.

Husband and killer changes his plea to insanity. Trial to start June 8th.

Judge David Borowski assigned Robert Rawski, a forensic psychiatrist, to examine Sebena. He set a deadline of April 1 for an expected defense motion and April 15 for a reply by the prosecution. He also scheduled a hearing on the doctor's report for April 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Another sad example of the pain families have from the murder of a loved one. Jennifer's poor brother has killed himself. Found this in looking for updates. So sad.

In her obituary, Wernitznig was described as Sebena's best friend, and just hours before his death, he posted a photo of himself with his sister as children near a Christmas tree.
He was 28. Wauwatosa police are investigating.

Sebena's husband, Benjamin Sebena, is serving a life sentence for fatally shooting her while she was patrolling in Wauwatosa Dec. 24, 2012. An Iraq War veteran, he mounted an unsuccessful insanity plea based on trauma from his war experiences.
