Au Contraire, Mon Ami. As you know I am not one shy about calling SCPD ineffective, quite the contrary. The are smart and capable enough of solving most any crimes that come to their attention, i.e., if they can solve it in the first place. If left to the detectives to their own devices they probably would have a good chance of solving it.

Personally, I believe they have a good idea who may have done these crimes but higher forces have impeded them from solving this case.

No, my friend they are as smart as most any police department.

They must first find a way to keep out the powerful from this case before they can solve it.

You're absolutely right - this whole thing could be the result of police incompetence/ambivalence.

I'm just of the opinion that someone who hasn't been mentioned - at all - is responsible for the four sets of remains found in December of 2010. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. I would love for JB/CPH/MP to be found guilty of SOMETHING, if only because it will allow for some sort of closure.

I only used CPH and Brewer because they are known to us, and therefore illustrated my point. But I absolutely agree with you that, if and when LISK is caught, we all might well be left scratching our heads and saying, "WHO?!".

I'm not so sure that the reason this case isn't progressing is due to incompetence or ambivalence, though. In my mind, it's equally likely that the case isn't progressing because certain people don't want it to progress.

It's been awhile guys and gals. Still no arrest, huh? Shocking. Pardon my sarcasm. How is everyone?

They can only solve a case if there is sufficient evidence to do so. As a former "detective" you should know that. Evidence does not materialize out of thin air unless it is made up. No doubt that happens often enough.

In this case I doubt the police know much more than who these women are and that they are dead. The only way they can progress is if they know who the last client was, but, because of the secrecy escorts have to shroud their activities in, that information probably doesn't exist or is long gone. IMO SKs who prey on these sorts of women are likely to evade detection for a very long time if they don't get sloppy.

To catch the LISK they will need new bodies and hope that somewhere in that they will find evidence. But, with the publicity the case has achieved, he more than likely has changed his MO, so a connection with the 4 known victims may never be made even if they do eventually catch him.

Well, "Yes" is in the lead but I don't see it being solved. What's the time limit on the solution? If some of us don't live long enough to see a solution then the question is sort of immaterial.

I would venture to say LE has evidence which they're not about to tell the public or post online. Amber & Megan were found the closest to their disappearance. Most likely evidence collected.

Soon, hopefully soon. The victims & their families deserve justice.

IF you read my post carefully you would know I have not said anything much differently that what you have just said.

ANY case is easy to solve IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE ANSWERS. Most times the answers are staring you in the face and you just don't see them.

BTW, the 'last client' of the last victim (SG) is well known to them - JB.

I wasn't a 'detective', I WAS A DETECTIVE ! I risk being accused of being immodest if I say I was somewhere in the middle in the quality rank.

I have often said a serial killer case is usually difficult to make. I can tell you that from my experience that many of those cases go unsolved, or take a long time to solve is because we (detectives) are our own worst enemies.

If you would consider that statement immodest, then I must have an ego the size of Texas, because I'm a freaking genius in the kitchen, and I'll tell you so outright. :floorlaugh:

NOT QUITE sure what you are trying to say. I was trying to say in describing my ability as a detective is I fell somewhere average..........not too bright, not too dumb,,,,,,,just in the middle of the pile.

I know what you meant, Hawk. I was just pointing out that saying you're average is hardly a statement anyone would construe as immodest. :)

Chalk that up to my lack of reading comprehension skills. After I posted it and read it a few more times I was getting it.

Truth is the curve from dumb to average to great is a lot flatter than you might think.

I'm one of the people who think there are two killers. So as stated, odds are one of them will eventually get caught. And then probably get blamed for all of them, effectively letting the second one off the hook.

There have been no new bodies discovered??? I don't think our LISK can stop so either the newer dump site hasn't been discovered yet, or he's in jail, moved or dead. One thing I do know is that he/they haven't stopped on their own. They can't. IMO, JMO, MOO.

That's the way I see it as well. I think the Gilgo 4 are one killer and the other guy is a butcher who as part of his signature or MO he wraps or encloses the body (in something other than burlap). In my mind, the following local cases would fit that criteria:

Cherries
The woman’s stabbed torso had washed up in a suitcase on a Mamaroneck beach on March 3. Her right foot and leg washed up in Cold Spring Harbor on March 27.
Investigators describe her as a Hispanic or light-skinned black female 5’10”, 180-200 lbs wearing a red camisole with a Spanish label, purple Champion sweats, tan long-sleeved Voice T-shirt, blue bra, and a tattoo of two cherries on right breast. Scraps of paper in the crevices of the suitcase form a calendar page that says “cinco” and “begin to live.” The suitcase was made by InGear, model Protege, sold only at Wal-Mart.

Peaches
On June 28, 1997, on the west side of Lakeside Drive, 200 yards north of Peninsula Boulevard, Hempstead Lake State Park a black female torso was found with her arms, head, and legs below the knee severed.
A man hiking with his son found her in a green Rubbermaid container, along with a red towel and floral pillow sham. Investigators say she was between 16 and 30 years old, had an abdominal scar from a cesarean section and a tattoo of a peach in the shape of a heart with a bite taken out of it and two drips falling from its core on her left breast.
Investigators call her “Peaches” and she was dead up to three days before she was found.
Her fingerprints and dental history gone, “Peaches” was wrapped in black plastic garbage bags and stuffed into a large green Rubbermaid container, along with a red towel and floral pillow sham.

A skull, hands and forearm belong to Jessica Taylor, a 20-year-old woman who disappeared in 2003 and was last seen working the streets of New York City, her body found in the Pine Barrens of Manorville. A skull, hands and leg bone belong to the torso of a woman also found within miles of Taylor in 2000. One set of remains belongs to a female child between the ages of 18 and 24 months. Another belongs to an Asian male in his late teens to early 20s.

Between the two is a path of wild grass, and today, a torn-up mattress, broken and discarded toys and ceramic statues, rusted Reddi-Wip cans probably used by kids to get high, and piles of sticks and chopped wood. It was on top of one of these piles that, on the morning of July 26, 2003, the woman discovered the naked body of 20-year-old Jessica Taylor on a plastic sheet, her head and hands cut off. They have never been found.

The body belonged to a white woman in her 30s with brown hair. She had been dead for several weeks before her nude, headless body was found, cut into pieces and stuffed in plastic bags. Her hands and right foot were never located, and police say the woman must have had some kind of identifying mark, like a tattoo, on her ankle that the killer had wanted to get rid of.

Wading River Road in Manorville

On February 18, 2012, skeletal human remains were found by a man walking his dog in Manorville, near Wading River Rd, close to a county park. The remains were found wrapped in a bed sheet and plastic bag. Police have not officially linked this to the other bodies, claiming it was too early to tell.

So obviously I think it might be helpful to keep an eye out for serial cases elsewhere in the US with that similar MO.

You might want to add: Rita Tangredi Beinlich ((Nov 1993) and Collen McNamee (1994.) Those dates are close to Peaches, Cherries, 2001 UID Manorville, etc.

Could Israel Keyes have been responsible for some? He lived in the New York area and traveled extensively. Many think he killed the Mcstay family.

I was just focusing on the ones with dismemberment. Those two were both strangulation with no dismemberment I think.

That dude gives me the creeps. Just the look of him makes my stomach turn. I think it's definitely possible, yet probably difficult to prove since he killed himself before he could be tried. The only thing that leads me to believe that it might not have been Keyes is the calls to MB's sister. That wasn't Keyes' style at all. He went way out of his way to not form a pattern. He would turn his cell phone off while driving to a location where he was going to commit a murder so he couldn't be tied to a particular location. He was smart. Though I wouldn't completely rule him out.
