Octuplets mom's doc expelled from organization

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- The Beverly Hills doctor who gave fertility treatments to octuplets mom Nadya Suleman has been expelled from a professional organization.

Dr. Michael Kamrava (Kam-RAH'-vuh) was kicked out of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine last month.

From the article:

"The decision may be a blow to Kamrava's prestige but it won't keep him from practicing medicine. Tipton says the non-profit group has no such legal authority."

My comment: Since the group has no legal authority, the doctor will still have his license, but I hope he takes this experience and acts with more reason in the future. (JMO.)

Here's another article; http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/10/19/octomom.doctor/index.html

Thank you for the article link.

I didn't know the ideal ammount of embryos implanted, per age group.

Pretty interesting, IMO. I hope Dr. K decides to adhere to some of this ideal. Even though he was expelled from this group, it would be great to hear he's adjusted his methods accordingly.

(As a woman over 40, I can't imagine having 5 embryos implanted. I'd rather try 3 times with one embryo each time. This is just my opinion, so I do hope no one is offended.)

First there are the four horsemen, then the seven seals, and finally, the Nadya Suleman-Jon Gosselin romance.

Yes, the Apocalypse may be upon us after the octo-mom recently told RadarOnline that "she thinks Jon Gosselin is quite the catch."
"I kind of have a crush on Jon Gosselin," Suleman told RadarOnline. "I think he's hot."
Despite the risk of your head exploding, stop and think for a moment about a possible Gosselin/Suleman romance. Her fourteen kids plus his eight kids plus all those Ed Hardy T-shirts -- it would make for one whirlwind love affair.

We knew she was crazy and that she would do anything to keep her fat lips on TV; but I think this statement proves she has gone completely over the edge to insanity. No woman in her right mind could find this guy sexy in light of his behavior over the last six months.

I have no problem admitting I thought he was "cute" once upon a time. He moved past cute and into disgusting a very long time ago for me...

IIRC, Kate did some Octo-bashing and I think one of her statements was about having a husband? Could Octo be getting a little dig in there or do you all think she thinks Jon is "hot"?

honestly,I think it's just another made up story for $$$.(we all know she loves that!) lol :)

I totally agree with you. For my own personal self, if I was implanted with 3 and 3 "took" I would be in a situation I don't (didn't) ever want to have to face. So I would never tempt fate that way.

If I understand this correctly a woman over 40 has a 5% chance of conceiving as our uterus becomes more choosy so to speak of what we let "stick". If a procedure goes according to plan and theory, those older moms-to-be will still only end up with a single baby. I'm not sure what exactly the reasoning behind 5 at once or 1 tried 5 times, except the time factor. Every month that it doesn't happen is one more month they never get back. And the docs are very aware that her odds are never going to improve....

OctoMom: Me & My Fourteen Kids,:scream:

Just premiered on British TV. It will air in the U.S. at a later date.
Apparently, the Octomom documentary features a particularly *frank assessment from the mom of 14 on why she had octuplets when she had six kids to start with. :talker:

"You don't understand," Nadya Suleman says. "You have these frozen embryos :cold::cold: that are there, and they are writing you
letters saying, We are charging you this much, and it's going up and up and up every month that they are stored.:tsktsk:

"You can either use them or destroy them. You're like, O.K., I have six already. What's another? :waitasec: I decided to take the chance. I didn't want to destroy the embryos."
:eek:

She's right. What's another kid - or eight - for taxpayers to support?
:twocents::twocents:

"I made these choices out of the midst of being in survivor mode," the nut job explained. "I think 99 percent of people would have made the same decision." :bang:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*And by frank I'm sure she means she's going to try a new slant on the story, after the last one didn't go over so well.:nono:
Nota'ma made a mocumentory with/for her inseminater, I have a hard time believing he's charging her storage fee's, unless he sends out...
Best use of smilies I've seen yet.
YOU are??? Who's she talking about, the mouse in her pocket??
It makes sense, really. If I made some embryos, I wouldn't want them thawed out and washed down a sink :(
There are many people who would have been honored to gestate those embryos and have their longed for family. Can you sell embryos? She could have used the money for a decade worth of french tips :woohoo:
I'm aware of genetics,but the octuplets sure do appear to be of several different ethnicities.In my*own opinion (I'm not asking anyone to agree),I think the Dr played 'embryo round-up' and scrounged together whatever (or as many as) he could find in order to facilitate the HOM pregnancy he and Nadya were trying to get.
And for that matter,I think the 'double identical twins' story is a lie.none of the appear to look just alike.
Would be interesting to know if they were all donor embyros,or were some illegally taken.
"You can't sell them but you can donate them."
I don't know if Nadya would have trouble with her embryo's being adopted or not, because of the autism spectrum situation with #4 and possibly one of the others.
I don't see this being an option she would have chosen. Due to whatever psychological issues she's dealing with that made her think having 7 kids was a good idea, when she isn't working, isn't caring for or supporting the first six.
Her mother suggested adoption as a good option she could have used and Nutt'ya was really in her face about it. I believe this was in the first televised interview with both of them.
CHR NY Frozen embryo storage per quarter (voluntary) $150.00
(I stand-by what I said, Not'ama made a mocumentary for her doc.
She had to be compensated some way)
"Donors are not paid. However, couples who request assistance may be reimbursed for some or all of their expenses that were incurred with storage of their embryos."
(This particular site is the only one that stated any fee's until those incurred with transfer would be reimbursable.)
The number returned varies with the desires of the patient, under the guidelines of age categories; under 35 years old, up to three embryos; 35-40 years and older, up to four embryos. Additional embryos may be frozen and stored for future use.
(Octo was what 32??)
Multiple births are less common with frozen embryo cycles than with "fresh" embryo transfers.
A recent study published in the journal Fertility and Sterility actually found women who use their own embryos will have a 32% chance of delivering to term, whereas women using adopted frozen embryos will have a 35% chance of delivering to term.
I found some interesting information that I'll put in another post, I tried to keep it to Nota'ma as much as possible...
great info,thx,I was wondering about that.I know you can accept a donation for harvested eggs,(although you can't officially sell them),but I wasn't sure about embryos.
New story:New York Times The Octomom and Her Babies Prepare for Prime Time
by:John Bowe
The film crew, from the British division of Eyeworks and led by British director Luke Campbell, were there to shoot; “OctoMom: Me & My Fourteen Kids.(it was set to be shown in Britain last week; a U.S. deal is pending).
One thing Campbell wanted to know was, why in the world Suleman had gone ahead and had eight babies.
Suleman’s response was very matter-of-fact. After her last successful round of I.V.F., Suleman said, she was left with 17 or 18 :eek: frozen eggs. For her last pregnancy — which resulted in twins — her doctor had “transferred in” five eggs. “So,” she said, “O.K., we’ll just re-enact that. And so he transferred in five or six. And we got negative results. Then he tried six. Negative results. And then he transferred in six more. And then this happened! That’s why this was beyond my wildest imagination — who would have ever imagined that that would happen?”
"It feels like I have 14 parts of my heart walking around outside of my body, and that’s really profound.”
And that's also a famous quote about motherhood:
"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." ~Elizabeth Stone
Nadya had claimed after the birth of the 8, that she had about 6 embryo's left from her prior births and each of her pregnancies occurred, including the tups, from one attempted fertilization. :confused:
From everything I have read while researching to do an article, if she was left with 6 frozen embryo's it would have been close to a miracle for all 6 to survive thawing. Also, frozen embryos are much less likely to produce twins, so another miracle. Then all six plus the 2 twins "took". The only story that would be less likely than hers, would be a virgin birth that did not start in a doctors office, in 2009.
Does she not remember the other stories she has out there? Or does she not care? Every interview she has done she claims 'everything being said about her is all lies;' she's right but most are lies she started!! (My bff from high school is a pathological liar, I still haven't been able to figure out if she believes what she says or not. When someone says to her "Oh, you said X,Y,Z last week;" she just kind-a looks thru the person who calls her out, and either continues or changes the subject, mid sentence.) :(
“People are like, ‘Oh, why don’t you go to work?’ ” Suleman said into the camera that day. “O.K., think about the reality of that situation: I leave, I go to work, I’m away from them all day, I make — how much? $15,000 a year?
What happen to the $60K she told Gma she would make that wasn't enough?? Yes, Campbell replied. But wasn’t she sort of brokering her own children as commodities?
“They can be perceived as commodities,” she said. “But they’re not. They are real human beings, real lives.
Her kids, she said, understood the situation. “They’re able to conceptualize that, O.K., we don’t necessarily want this. But it’s controlled.” As long as they didn’t step over the line into doing a reality show, with cameras in the house all day, every day; as long as the cameras were present for only a few days, every six or so months, things could be made to work out.
She asked Amerah if it was O.K. for the film crew to come film them, kissing and hugging good night. Amerah retorted, “No!”
Nadya tried to tuck in Caleb, the monster. “I love you, Caleb, but you really need to go to sleep,” she said. “My name is what?”
Caleb answered, “Dummy.”
“It’s not Dummy, it’s Mummy. You’re not behaving. What’s wrong with you? Lay down, go to sleep....
(Now that was just touching... not!)
While the crew members felt invited into Suleman’s world by Suleman, their relations with her kids were never such a sure bet.
“When we first came here, the kids hated us. They were shouting out the window: ‘Go away! Go away!’. Now that we’ve been here a while longer, they like us”; Andy McLeod, a Scottish cameraman marveled.
Campbell agreed. He’d seen video footage from a few months ago in which the kids nearly attacked a camera, shouting: “Stop taping me! Why are you always taping?” On the Eyeworks crew’s first day at Suleman’s house, he said: “J.J. took the hand held light out of my hand and stuck it in my face and said: ‘How do you like that? How does that feel?’ This 6-year-old kid!”
Much of Campbell’s recent work has had to do with people in extreme circumstances; (he made the "Half-ton Trilogy"). Each of his shows, he said, touched on “people with sort of tragedies in their hearts. They were victims of life, of society, victims of our times.”Suleman, he said, "was interesting because, she’s kind of a victim in her own right. "Nothing happened to her. She created the whole thing.” and that’s really profound. :cow:
How does Suleman figure she'd only make $15,000 a year working. Minimum wage would pay more than that. I thought she already had a bachelor's degree that would help her to be able to find a fairly decent job. I'm just glad I don't have to raise the kid that acts so awful and called her dummy. He would be harder to handle than 10 other kids.
IMO, the reason he's acting out is because he's not getting enough attention. If the kids and her spend 14 hours a day together the bulk of the time is going to the eight babies. The kid who called her Dummy is probably just attention starved.
BBM
He calls her a "Dummy" because she is one. He sees how she act and sees things behind the scene that we are not privy too! He's probably just sick of it and has alot of years on his poor little head that should'nt be there. He is a KID and has had to deal with things that only adults usually have to deal with. So, YES, his Mom is a dummy!
