Speaking from experience here. Years ago we lived above a bar, not my first choice but one a divorced mother of 3 could afford. I woke up one morning, went to the bathroom and looked in on my kids, as I always did, every night before bed and every morning. My oldest daughter who was 12 was not in her bed at 5 a.m. Instant fear, even some 25 years later I still feel it in my gut. The first thing I did was check the apartment, behind every piece of furniture and in every closet. Then I called her father although he was not in their life much, I was hoping. When he said no I immediately hung up and called the police. After calling the police I then started on the friends list.
I thank God to this day that she had just "ran away" to one of her friends houses considering the alternative.
I can not imagine in my wildest dreams going 2 hours without calling the police and she was 12.
