According to the criminal complaint in an Amber Alert investigation, the initial report on the missing girl came from the Principal of her middle school. Deputies were called to Eastern Greenbrier Middle School on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 just after 2 p.m. The principal told investigators the girl had been absent since Monday, Dec. 18. The victim apparently told other students she was with 27-year-old Christopher Rider.
As a part of the investigation, deputies learned that Rider had been seen with a young girl at the Super 8 Motel in Lewisburg. WV. They also learned that Rider was with Charles Robert Kraft. The two had apparently been at the Super 8 with several juveniles on Monday.
On Thursday, investigators received an anonymous tip that Rider, Kraft and the victim were in the Neola area. Upon investigation, deputies were able to find the three at a home on Cochran Road.
Kraft told deputies that Rider initially told him the victim was 17-years-old. It was only after the Amber Alert was issued that Kraft said he learned she was 14. Kraft also told investigators he believed that Rider and the victim were in an intimate and sexual relationship.
