I am going to ask what may amount to be two dumb questions right now, and one is a 'what if' scenario:

If the autopsy is complete and the Coroner has determined very close to approximately what date Gabby passed, then couldn't LE issue an Arrest Warrant for BL based on the fact that he, at the very minimum, misdirected the investigation by sending text messages from her phone to people after she died?

Although they cannot yet prove he is the one who sent the messages, what if their cell phones pinged together at the same time in the same place multiple times after the date she was determined to be deceased, it would, at the very least, indicate that he was likely in possession of her cell phone and that he tried to impersonate her by using her phone.

I realize that this scenario involves him not having the presence of mind to shut off his own phone during his drive back to Florida. (I don't believe he could resist not checking his own phone for several days.)

In Christina Morris's murder trial, some of the evidence presented was cell phone records that showed the pinging of Christina and her abductor's (EA) cell phones were close together for a few hours after she was last seen with him on surveillance tape. (He was the last person who had been seen with her and claimed he left her close to her car in a parking garage.)

Also, second question is could LE currently have an Arrest Warrant for him and just not be making it public ?

JMO

They most likely have enough evidence for an arrest warrant. It just needs to be determined to have probable cause - which is a pretty low standard to meet. But, there is a constitutional right to a speedy trail, and so they are sometimes slower to make an arrest since they want to have the investigation complete and be ready to go to trial if the defendant wants to.
In this case, my gut feeling is that is not the issue. I think they have an arrest warrant either signed approved and ready to go or at least written up and ready to submit to a judge. And yes, they could have one already approved but under seal so the public would not be aware. And since BL is in hiding, that may be the option they chose to go with. Also, they may want to bargain with him when he is caught, not arresting him ASAP gives him a final chance to give his side of the story in hopes they will believe him and he can avoid arrest. And having his side of the story is much better for prosecutors since it locks him in and they have an easier time of disproving him.
JMHO

The larger cross only appeared 30 minutes after LE left the scene. It was either made by the FBI or by an unknown person/persons. We've heard both but LE has not confirmed either one. Imo
I hear you, but just look at the picture, it is evident that this stone cross has been there for 1+ weeks at least. It has seen quite some wind and rain. No media speculation is necessary for that conclusion.

I don't know how John Walsh can forgive the cops who botched his missing deceased son's case. That was horrific. Le botched it horribly!!!

Anyone think STAN was code to her mother?
I think if STAN was a code she would have immediately contacted authorities. She knew Stan was Grandpa, so Grandpa's name must be Stan.
MOO

IMO good thought to highlight the restaurants and hotel stays. This is not off-the-grid (or even outdoor-focused) life by any stretch. It’s photo ops at popular spots plus cheap overnights.
[I have to throw in an exception to GP ‘s hotel stay in SLC, though, since that night have been a safety measure.]
Restaurants and hotels get super expensive.
There are hostels around if you need cheap lodgings.
A much cheaper method for eating is to have a double-burner Coleman stove and make all your meals at campgrounds, rest areas, etc. I hadn’t seen this couple do that. GP might have been comfortable doing that, but no way in heck BL. After all, he could have just driven the van into the sunset. Instead, he drives it home to momma.
I wonder where BL has been getting his showers?
They did have a Coleman burner it was in the YouTube video. Gabby was making food.

That's probably true. But every case Walsh has been involved in since his son's horrible murder has involved heartbreaking details and in hindsight, mistakes by investigators. And he's never sounded quite so unhinged. So I just have to wonder what else is going on. Maybe as one poster suggested it's theater but I've never thought Walsh was especially prone to that.
JMO
I think "unhinged" might be a bit hyperbolic. :) I think people get passionate about cases and this one is highly unusual since three people are complicit in the events, and that doesn't include all the what ifs surround that stop in Moab. Three adults are actively coordinating in an effort to treat another human being like trash and that's upsetting. It's upsetting when one person kills another, but to have that murderers parents act in such a callous deprived manner as well? It's unconscionable.

Personally, I think they have a team looking for him elsewhere but not telling anyone publicly.

I think this dive team is looking for the murder weapon in there.

BL dumped it and then was picked up and god only knows where now. But I think this is a show for the media, and to find the weapon and they are onto BL elsewhere. JMO

Anyone think STAN was code to her mother?

No because for any decent code to work, the parties sending and receiving the code need to understand it. Seems if you were going to create a code you would do more than use Grandpa's name rather than what she would call him.
When my kids were little we had codes for school - one that if someone picked them up they needed to use so the kids knew I sent them in an emergency. Another so if I called at a friends or they called to check in, when prompted they could reply with it. For ex, "Name, I am making dinner tomorrow, do you want Fish or Pizza?" If all was well, they would say "Pizza sounds good." If not, they would say "Fish" and I would know that I needed to tell them I had some reason they needed to come home.

The Laundries did leave this morning in the red truck. They returned home with the Mustang. And then left again in the truck.

Great job @oviedo Add this to timeline:

8/26:
Jessica Schultz told the San Francisco Chronicle that she saw Laundrie in the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area near the park on August 26. She said she was driving behind Laundrie while he was in the couple's white van alone, before he parked it on the side of the road.

This is what I had wanted to know... for the benefit of those of us who aren't local, is the entire preserve passable, for want of perhaps a better word? or can you go off-piste into the swamp if you want?

As a local, and familiar with Carlton...You can hide there for months.
But, unless LE has information the public isn't privy to, then he isn't hiding there.

There are hiking/biking trails and horse trails that are very popular with the locals. Trail cams are there to catch anyone poaching the deers, hogs or anything else.
Go off trail, and you're taking big chances. Water moccasins are the worst. Aggressive, stealthy and very fast..."boom" you're dead.

BL can filter water if he needs, but the leeches may be a problem. The water around the cowboy camp is arsenic filled, so that may be a problem.
Finding food resources would be his greatest problem.

JMHO...He's a coward, and a granola eating wanna be, from Long Island. No way he's alive in Carlton living off the land like a native.
He may have hung out there for a day or two, but highly doubtful that he stayed.

Anyone know if any news crews are following the Laundries either by car or air?

Hey this could be turning into the OJ SIMPSON Bronco Ride except in a Red PIckup truck this time !!
Squad cars tailing at respectful distance...

(I know I 'll get burned for saying this but I've made a few contributions to LE on this one that may yet bear fruit - esp on the odometer issue. )

Kidon Ha Gadol.

i think some people have taken the decrypting of those text messages a little far

only 1 or 2 people actually know what they mean and one of them is a homicide victim :(
I thought, if anything other than an actual name, "stan" meant 'enthusiast' or a 'fan' of something/someone. But, in this case, I think it means nothing more than someone's name.

Maybe they are confident - or maybe they're just being thorough and checking it off the list. Imagine if he WAS there and they DIDN'T search the preserve. That's the kind of thing that could get someone fired.

IMO, he wouldn't park his car in plain site if he was hiding there. When you factor in all the other details, it seems obvious to me that his parents helped him escape.
-BL returns on Sep 1
-He and his family immediately lawyer up and do not respond to any of GP's parents calls & texts (big red flag)
-The mustang is found in plain site at the preserve
-His family buys a brand new camper and takes a 3-day road trip...mind you this is after they clearly know that something bad happened to GP and BL is in trouble. Who goes camping under these circumstances?

I missed the information that the camper was bought after he returned. Is that correct?

Also, is it a camper or just a shell for the truck bed?

Thanks for any info.
