There has been a lot of talk about Brian not having any dreams or goals and it got me digging a little. His artwork intrigued me. He's not a bad artist. Before the Van Life trip, Brian was selling bookmarks and t-shirts with his prints on Depop. I don't know if he sold anywhere else. It explains why he had his drawings up on his IG page. He linked there from Depop to show his work.

This in no way takes away from this awful crime. It just gives a bit more insight into BL and that he appeared to have some goals too.

What a wasted life. Even the darkest amongst us have dreams.

MOO.

Do we know where the parents and the caravan of unmarked cars went? Did any media helicopters follow?
Is it a personal outing that has to be supervised? Are they even allowed this?
Is it an escort to the station for questionning?
Are they going to make an identification?
Are they taking them to their son?
They didn't take the Petito family to Gabby, why would they take his parents there unless it is to talk him off of something.

This is a very confusing story to try to chase down. The different accounts are contradicting. I read the one above earlier.

Then there's this one.
"A manager at The Merry Piglets told CNN that she did see "an incident" at the restaurant and called the FBI on Wednesday. The manager declined to give CNN her name or describe what happened and said the restaurant did not have surveillance video of the incident."
No sign of Laundrie as search continues; woman says she saw incident involving Petito before death

The Merry Piglet has also confirmed the argument on their Instagram page. (I don't trust social media links.)

Possibly, the restaurant's staff was told not to speak about it, then when the story broke they were left scrambling for a response.

The restaurant has given LE info on the case. Apparently, BL and GP did. eat there. So we all know Gabby was alive on that date at that time. Doubt she was killed in van, so absolute earliest she could have been killed is however long it takes to drive to campsite from that restaurant.

Also does give some good background on BL’s frame of mind. Certainly not in good mood at that time.

I have my own crazy story about going into the wilderness and surviving. I basically went in the first time with zero skills, zero experience and no supplies. Its not that difficult and isn't as a hard as people believe. Any average intelligence person can easily survive in the wild. It's in our DNA, we have been doing that way longer than living in society. Some places are more difficult than others and I've been all over doing it since the first time but its not that difficult. I just wanted to put that out there because I see so many people assuming it's a death sentence except for the highly trained outdoorsman and it's not. If he is dead its because he wanted to be dead imo

Thank you!! It's not as difficult as people are making it out to be.
There's a famous story about a man who just parked his car and walked into the woods and survived out there for 27 years. He had no prior skills. Granted he did so with a lot of theft but 27 YEARS of surviving and stealing before he was caught.

I thought this, as well when I read that the divers were brought in.
That was my first thought this morning when I signed on to this "Galloping Threads" case. I'm way behind before I even sign-on!
When I read that the FBI is still at the site, I thought morbidly that they had a lead on a DB. If that comes up "nothing" where/what will they go/do next?
We'll see.

Let's just say they're searching the reserve based solely on the information provided by the parents. One would assume the FBI made the parents fully aware of the consequences of lying and obstructing the investigation. Which begs the question, are the parents the type of people who would potentially sacrifice their own freedom to protect their son?

I understand they were the ones who wanted to speak to the FBI about their missing son. However, if I were trying to protect someone I certainly would make every effort to have LE buy into anything except the truth.

FBI agents are trained in interrogation techniques and are body language experts, I have a hard time believing that BL's parents are such experienced cons that they would be able to effectively lie to FBI agents ( even if they decided to try.)

but not sure Id spend the money for a weeks hotel stay .. Why blow about a $1000.... if I was on limited funds and a vanlifer and had my home in the van... I parked it somewhere at a park for the week and save my money... That van would be a dream to drive compared to other RV's.
Something about this period still nags me....
Something tells me someone was helping pay that bill but we wont hear about all of that yet

Sorry, I haven’t had time to catch up with all the threads as it is moving so rapidly so apologies if this has been covered already. If BL had gone to the reserve to hide, leaving the vehicle there is obviously a giveaway. If he had genuinely ran away to go into hiding, why would he have left the vehicle there? Unless he has gone there to commit suicide. Has he left it there to create a decoy and distraction to allow him time to flee further afield?

I've been all over the United states since my first experience (self employed). I fell in love after the first time 14 years ago after a traumatic experience spent 94 days alone in a wildlife refuge. I haven't been to the exact spot he is in but I've been to that general area and it's more difficult than most places in the states. The only place I've been too that was extremely difficult almost unbearable was South Carolina in an area the locals call the PEE DEE. Obviously difficulty is subjective but that area of the country is extremely difficult to me because of the weather, they have the extremely hot humidity like every other place in the south but then the next day it can be freezing cold with ice and then back to extremely hot. Very weird area
Please, tell the location of your wilderness experience so it can be put into context.

This family has protected their son from the beginning, so I can't fathom law enforcement taking their word for anything.

There's just got to be something more they are going on (whether or not it winds up being correct).

I agree. They are most likely working from credible info that their own investigation revealed. There's an incredible amount of resources being deployed here. The danger to those divers, as an example, is real. Those volunteer SAR dog teams most likely are required to have armed LE with them. They are not searching for a lost hiker but a possible dangerous and despondent person, assuming he's alive. I think this is likely a body recovery mission. IMO

They have to be places to walk in to Canada thru the forest without going thru a check point station,
I wonder if the Laundries family has other family members in Kentucky, WestVirginia, Tennessee or in the Carolina mountain area’s, a person could live off the grid along time without being noticed in the rural areas, JMO
There are places where you can walk into Canada, that are sparsely patrolled. But the article said, he was disoriented, like dazed, and had wandered into the wrong hotel. So he either had a reservation at a Toronto hotel, or was meeting someone there. "He" being the person who looks like Brian. We don't know if it's actually him, but the description of someone wandering around kind of shell-shocked fits one of the descriptions of him someone gave, when encountering him toward the end of August, after what we surmise was the date of Gabby's death. I don't recall exactly, but I think someone ran into him before he left Grant Teton park.

To follow up on the "he's not too bright" comments that have peppered these threads--

If I were trying to evade LE by leaving my home state or country, probably the first thing I'd do is shave my facial hair, to try to alter my appearance. There's not much a bald guy can do, especially a bald guy of a certain height and build, but people wouldn't find him so instantly recognizable without the facial hair. He may not have attracted the attention of that flight attendant, without it. She even mentioned how the shape of his moustache matched all the photos she'd seen of him.

could he grow his hsir? shave his beard and wear a mask? Or let beard get ugly wear a nasty hat and join the homeless. Can hide among them for a long time.

I think LE really do believe he is in that park. They may have found evidence ie clothing, campfire remnants, discarded food packaging, water bottle. Maybe even have DNA or fingerprints already and are just not saying. Also, he may have contacted his parents or police from there saying he was going to end it for himself. Maybe guns are missing from the house. Also maybe phone pings. IMO

North Port neighbors frustrated, sad as Brian Laundrie search goes on - WINK News
<snipped>
Neighbors are frustrated. One woman right across the street from the Laundrie home told WINK News, “No offense to you—we’re ready for you all to leave. We want this nightmare to be over.”

[...]

While the neighborhood may not be where Petito died, it is where she lived with Laundrie. It is not a particularly young street; there are some younger parents in their 30s and 40s with young children, but very few young adults, so Gabby Petito stuck out. Not seeing her anymore and knowing why is very off-putting for many people.

“When they were first working on the van, we saw him and Gabby working on the van together,” said neighbor Karyn Aberts. “Then we knew they were gone, that’s really all we knew, because the car wasn’t there anymore… I remember noticing he was back, but I didn’t think anything about it, I just thought, ‘Oh, he’s back from a trip.'”

That, and I believe he wanted to WWOOF in the Pacific NW.

Looks like he's tried to make a buck off quite a few copyrighted characters there without permission.
