Missing woman disappears after road trip with boyfriend as mom reveals message to authorities

Gabby Petito, 22, set out on a road trip with her boyfriend in a converted camper van in early July to tour National Parks, but she disappeared in late August and her family hasn't heard from her in more than two weeks. Now, her mother is pleading for help finding her daughter.

Nicole Schmidt, Petito's mother, said that the last verbal conversation she had with her daughter was on Aug. 25.

"I don't know if she left Grand Teton or not," Schmidt said. "I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text. I didn't verbally speak to her."

The couple stopped in Grand Teton National Park on Aug. 25, Petito's last known location, before a planned trip to Yellowstone. They were traveling in a 2012 Ford white van that was converted into a camper.

A spokesperson for the Jackson Police Department said that an "attempt to locate" call was recently filed for Petito. The Suffolk County Police Department is also investigating the case. Suffolk County PD declined to comment on Sunday.

Petito is 5’5" and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a triangle tattoo with flowers on her left arm and a "Let it be" tattoo on her right arm.

I have a couple of unresolved questions I hope I can get help with.
1. Neighbors origionally said Laundries went camping for 3 days from 6-8 but the lawyer said only 2 days from 6-7. If both are true, where did the Laudries go on day 3? Did they drop BL off somewhere?
2. TMZ reported a phone was purchased on 9/14 but the lawyer said 9/4. I do not see any retraction from TMZ so I think they are sticking to their story. I'm wondering if there are 3 phones? Original phone lost or dumped, new phone on the 4th to replace the original and a burner on 9/14 once they realized things were getting hot.

Even if BL did park at Myakkahatchee somewhere on or before 9/13, I think he could have easily hiked the Power Line Trail, or along the Big Slough Canal, or any of the other accessible trails and been out of the reserve/park area within a day, leaving no sign he was ever there. It was only a day or two after GP was officially reported missing, so if anyone during that time saw him walking, riding a bus, or even picked him up hitchhiking, etc., they maybe had no idea who he was, especially wearing a hat and mask.

You have, just to name a few, I-75, hwy 72, hwy 70, all within a day’s walk, depending on which trails were accessible due to flooding. He could be just about anywhere.

Some unanswered questions regarding the timeline after the DeSoto camping trip... We know the reservations were originally Sept 1-3 but were cancelled and then new dates, Sept 6-8 were reserved. According to SB though, RL, ChL, BL were only at the campground Sept 6-7. And CL says she was there for about 6 hours with her family as well on the 6th (2pm-8pm). Why did ChL , RL, and BL leave on the 7th instead of the 8th as they reserved? My heart literally sank when I got a notification that the thread was open. That's because I'm now so angry and irritated by this guy that if he were to emerge from a swamp in glowing colours , I would refuse to look at the pictures!

It's very difficult to have strong feelings against someone one knows absolutely nothing about.

That article outlined the steps they took to know who they were searching for.
We don't have access to any of those people and nobody is coming online telling tales about his childhood or teen exploits.
We are told by a posey social media that he likes to ingest, what is in effect squirrel food.
I mean, how committed is he really to squirrel food? Does he secretly consume junk food when nobody he wants to impress is looking?

Does he believe what he talks about? Like, really?
It's a needle in a haystack and on a Friday, a few weeks ago his parents allegedly reported to LE, having summoned them and in the presence of a lawyer on the telephone, that their son had been missing since Tuesday! A few weeks passed and a very expensive and labour intensive search was conducted. It yielded nothing and we learned this week that they have recovered from their apparent amnesia and had a Eureka recall- he hadn't actually 'disappeared' on the Tuesday, it was MONDAY all the time. We just remembered, praise God!!!
That 'memory loss' cost what?
A search party combing a range where person had a three day head start as opposed to a 4 day head start. I'm also suspecting, based on Josh Taylor's words last night in his interview that LE already knew, they had obtained this information from others and somehow the family knew.. Speculation!

Let’s make it a trio shall we? I agree with you both. It’s been my theory all along and I’ve tried to put up some supporting links when I post. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep notes and now my results appear no longer. I can’t imagine why the reserve search is still occurring unless they are looking for a firearm, knife or cell phone. What else could they be searching for? It would have to be something non-biodegradable right? Something metal? My vote is gun…

About 5.1 miles from the Myakkahatchee lot to Hwy 72. An easy straight hike through that could be done in under 2 hours if moving fast. Hitchhike from the road, have assistance pick him up, or even pick up a vehicle left there for him. I'm very curious also about SB mentioning in this article, https://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/gabby-petito-brian-laundrie-missing-1.50382998, that ChL was out searching the night of the 13th and how it could excuse ChL's truck being in or around the reserve later on Sept 13.
