Woke up wondering something: both his & her phones they had on the trip are missing (fact from LE).

My question: if he had her password (which I believe) he could have logged in & deleted things locally but also from the cloud. If he deleted local stuff from the phones (eg photos & texts), & from both clouds, then threw the phones in the swamp, what would LE be able to “get” off the phones with a warrant vs the actual object? I think they can still get retrieve texts but I’m not sure. What about photos? Voicemail? gps of phones on given dates? Edit to add: I’m wondering if they’re searching SO hard because he may have done enough cloud erasure that it makes LE need the physical phones. I hope I’m wrong! Tia!

I wonder this too if it he did leave even sooner… the only thing I can think of is it took part of Sun for planning & supplies. Another thing I wonder is if they knew they were being watched, did they have to wait till a certain moment of opportunity for him to leave…

He might've left earlier. I agree that it may have taken time to plan where he'd go and how he'd be supported -- I hope LE can look at the Ls phone records and movements in the time between the trip to Fort de Soto and the time they say they last saw BL. Another possibility is that BL did go to the reserve at first, but that on Sept 13th his father went to help him move on to a safe house or just to give him supplies for a further journey. Could the Ls have gotten a vehicle for BL by then?

Yes I agree! I still think it’s possible he didn’t come back after DeSoto… (I think 1 neighbor claims to have seen him after that trip, but I’m not sure about whether that’s 100% accurate)…

A forensics specialist would be able to pull darn near anything from the device if recovered. The only true means to ensure its unrecoverable is to pretty much grind the chips into non-existence.
That said, what settings did they have on their phones, where they in an offline mode and did they have connectivity? anything making it to the cloud or picked up across the networks it's all discoverable, deleted or not. Once its out there thats pretty much it. Wish I knew and understood the darkweb, i'm sure someones got a lot of that data pulled or captured that the FBI has and would fill in lots of info.

I kind of doubt they helped him find a shelter, but they may have given him pre-paid credit cards that would allow him to order groceries, pay rent, etc.

I agree with you and believe this is the most likely scenario. LE should be looking at houses and condos associated with his family that he may have helped work on as well as any snowbird houses and condos in those neighborhoods or complexes nearby.

I’ve been wondering if the Ls would have had any business or social connections to FL snowbirds that BL would have known about. These connections could go way back to elementary/middle/HS days. I know he was raised in NY- but perhaps they had family ties to the area & vacationed there regularly. For example, if BL took local ice hockey lessons as a child while on vacation in Sarasota/ Venice/ North Port (yes ice rinks are plentiful & BIG in FL), he could have had a friend (or friend’s grandparent) that had a FL vacation home or condo. Maybe even attended a birthday party there. He could have returned there- even if a condo- because units are often vacation rented when the owner isn’t there. Resident owners are so accustomed to this, they pay no attention to unfamiliar faces. And his, with sun hat & facemask, would be unfamiliar.

Unfortunately, C & R aren’t talking, but maybe Cassie remembers. Just can’t think BL is still in that swamp & don’t think suicide. All conjecture. No clue. All I know for sure is that time is passing & no arrest has been made.

The reason Ted Kaczynzki was found was that his brother recognized Ted's style and substance in the lengthy manifesto he published as the Unabomber. Then his brother informed the authorities that it sounded like Ted, and IIRC told them he lived in a tiny cabin in the woods.

In this case, from outward appearances, the family members of BL aren’t giving clues to the FBI, so unless they finally give info, that’s a dead end.

Sometimes a capture is serendipitous. The Son of Sam serial killer, who was local to me, was caught due to a parking ticket. I’m hoping that some unexpected thing will also trip up Brian and lead to his capture.

Yes, Ted had more going for him to suvive in the woods, and yes, he made a mistake getting his manifesto published.

I also could have used Son Of Sam or Joel Rifkin. They always seem to get caught making these stupid mistakes.

As high as Kaczynski's IQ was, he made a rookie mistake. It seems a high percentage get caught this way and BL is no different and he isn't special, but he is more desperate than all of the above and that will get him caught quicker, plus he has nearly no life experience except indulging himself, instead of holding down a job. jmo

I have seen more than a few mentions of the FBI being able to view financial records of BLs parents to see whether they are supporting him. I think they need a warrant to do that. And there has to be some supporting evidence to obtain a warrant from a judge. So as of yet, I am not certain they could access any of that info. But, as I was contemplating this, a few things came to mind. This might explain why SB and the Ls have backtracked to fess up about the lied about leaving date. And it also may explain some of the reason we saw CL going to the reserve with FBI. I think it is highly likely that the FBI and the SB-L team is playing an elaborate dance to try and find or dodge evidence that would support a warrant on their info. I imagine that LE would be very anxious to find enough supporting evidence that would convince a judge to allow them to carefully scrutinize the Laundries recent spending, phone records, etc. i am sure SB is doing his best to avoid giving them any reason to take to the judge.

Anonymous. Walk in darn near anywhere with cash in hand buy a few grand worth in multiple denominations if desired, avoid being seen on cameras. untraceable. EXCEPT.....if youre identified in camera using it.....now they can track that card and watch for next time it's used to try to capture (thus i'd do multi smaller cards) lol not sure they thought that deep.

Is there any video anywhere of the van being towed? Reportedly, a neighbor said it was towed around 11pm on the 11th. No reporters or protesters were there to see it. Gabby had been formally declared missing by NY authorities at 7 pm the 11th. I'm curious about where the van had been parked from sept1 to sept 11. More curious about where the MUSTANG was parked as the driveway must have been awfully crowded. If the mustang was in the garage, BL couldn't have taken it until the van was towed out of the way OR the van was in the garage and Laundries got a heads-up that they were coming to tow it so BL moved it to the driveway. (but LE wouldn't have seen it if it had been in the garage). I'm thinking that after the van was removed, BL backed the mustang out of the garage and took off for parts unknown......OR, better yet, was driven somewhere and dropped off. Then the reserve scheme was cooked up.....Parents dropped the mustang off at the reserve on Monday (sometime before the gate was closed) it was left overnight, and Tuesday afternoon it was ticketed. Wednesday, when the gate opened, it was retrieved and returned to the driveway. Does this make any sense??? jmo ETA This would mean that BL left the home late on the 11th after the van was towed.

Unless he's in a desperate situation, he's probably fat(headed), dumb(as usual), and happy. One-day-at-a-timing it, IMO.

Traveling on just data (or potentially just the occasional wifi stop) would prevent a lot of phone info from being available without the physical device, right? It's probably safe to say GP connected to the hotel wifi during that stay and BL while home but anything after checking out in SLC could easily not be on the cloud, right?

Thank you for the welcome and appreciation. I try to keep a separate heart and mind in these things. My heart follows many thoughts expressed here and other places throughout, ultimately however I see a beautiful GP a tad older than my oldest son that had a zest and smile brightening this world full of laughter and positivity. Would have made the right person for her a wonderful life partner. Whomever removed this candle of brightness upon this crazy dark world deserves their worst fears. My heart breaks for all impacted by this. I can't imagine being either parent right now.

I don’t have broadband, and I am almost 100% cellular. Although my phone and iPad will automatically backup when I stay somewhere I can link up to WiFi, I can force it to do it over cellular when I want. But most likely GP wasn’t doing that, so yes, most of her iPhone data probably wasn’t synched with the cloud after her hotel stay. It is possible she was on WiFi at the lunch (the Piglet place I forget the name..), that would be ideal if so.

Makes sense to me. And if that’s the case, he’ll have been on the lam successfully for one month come Monday. C&R may have helped him prep for departure, but I don’t see how they’d be able to help him now with media & FBI scrutiny. Jmo
