Agents search in Wyoming for Gabby Petito, in Florida for fiancé Brian Laundrie

Police say Laundrie’s missing status is “certainly a twist.”

Authorities used drones, scent-sniffing dogs and all-terrain vehicles in the reserve, which has more than 100 miles of trails, as well as campgrounds. Investigators took some of his clothing from his parents’ home Friday night to provide a scent for the search dogs.

Investigators in Florida were hopeful Laundrie was somewhere in the wildlife reserve near Sarasota. Depending on his skills, he could survive out in the reserve for some time, said police spokesperson Josh Taylor at a news conference.
Investigators were trying to verify the story told by Laundrie’s family members that he went in the reserve with only a backpack, Taylor said. One mystery is how Laundrie got to the reserve. Family members told investigators he took his car, but the vehicle was found back at his family’s home, not at the reserve.

“At this point, we’re going by the family’s word of where they think he is,” he said. They said he was familiar with the parks and often went there. Taylor also said Brian’s scent was at the park, although the car he may have driven there, or ridden in, was not there.

Police were also trying to figure out how Laundrie actually got to the park area. The car he was using somehow “made its way back” to the Laundrie’s home, Taylor said. Investigators were searching it, as well as the house, Friday night and Saturday. They did not impound the vehicle.

'We’re going by their word': Search for Brain Laundrie unsucsessful, Gabby Petito still missing
The Laundrie family spoke for the first time with police on Friday to report Brian Laundrie missing, but with a lawyer on speaker. Police say Gabby Petito was never mentioned in their conversation.

His family told them he took his car, but it was found parked at the Laundrie house in North Port.

“We’re going by their word,” said Josh Taylor, spokesman with North Port Police Department.

The missing Long Island native Petito and her unaccounted-for boyfriend seemed to have recently started a profile on a website that bills itself as a “go-to resource for all campers.”

The account on The Dyrt is credited to “Gabby & Brian V.” Despite the unexplained use of Brian’s wrong initial, the profile appeared to have been started and operated by the couple in July.

There are photos and video of a white tent with orange trim that appeared to be the same tent in a YouTube video that Gabby posted on Aug. 19. There is also an image of a smiling couple next to a rock formation that appeared to be Petito, 22, and Laundrie, 23.

The location of the profile was Colorado Springs, Colo., and the tag line read “traveling in our tiny van.” The account was created in July, and appeared to be last updated on the 29th of that month. The couple did visit Colorado Springs on July 8, according to a timeline of their known travels complied by The Post.

Brian Laundrie search ends with 'nothing found' on day one
“It’s muddy, it’s wet, there are a few unpaved dirt roads that are out there basically running along the power lines, you know its a place that people hike, there are mountain biking trails out there,” North Port Police Department spokesman Josh Taylor said Saturday, adding the search could take “a long time

“Were we trying to keep an eye out kind of where he’s at so that when needed we could potentially reach him? Yes. But our focus was putting resources on trying to find Gabby,” Taylor said, describing Laundrie’s disappearance as “certainly a twist.”

If fox news source isn't an approved news source, which news sites are?
Lot of news sources available. One would assume, if it’s not mentioned as a non-approved news source, that it is an okay news source. Unless told, otherwise.
More about having a history of being unreliable, than being on a list.

The North Port Police Department and other investigators swarmed Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park and Carlton Preserve Saturday morning. As of Sunday morning, an NPPD patrol car is blocking off the entrance to the park.

Law enforcement are maintaining a base operation inside the park itself, still searching for Laundrie, the fiancé of 22-year-old Gabby Petito. Investigators in Wyoming are combing Grand Teton National Park looking for the missing North Port woman.

Police in Florida investigating the disappearances of Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, have obtained some cell phone tracking data for them — but still need to secure search warrants to get “complete access.”

Investigators in North Port aren’t able to track the phones’ real-time locations, though they now have limited access to information about the couple’s movements, according to ABC7 reporter Jeff Butera.

“They need search warrants for devices. North Port PD is still working to get ‘complete access’ to the phones,” Butera wrote on Twitter.

Petito's family are aware of the clip and have said they "believe this is the van for multiple reasons."

Police are yet to verify whether or not the van shown is the white FordTransit used by the couple, investigators confirmed to Newsweek.

In response, a statement on the Find Gabby Facebook page read: "We have this video, so does the FBI - We believe this is the van for multiple reasons. Please do not clog up the tip line with the same video. This is in the hands of the right people.

“Thank you so much, this is exactly why we are asking people to review older photos and video."
