12 hour law? Where did you hear this? Someone can be reported missing at any point. There is no minimum. How seriously the police take it and how quickly they start investigating depends on all the circumstances.
Agreed. And I totally understand why my post about it was removed. Obviously this is why the police appeal was minimal. This is so terribly sad. Poor Sarah.
I think this is going to be difficult to discuss here, as her friends are posting quite a lot elsewhere with more details. It sounds like there's a lot of unverified information. Maybe the police already know quite a lot more, but don't actually need the public's help, so it won't be publicised...
I can't help wondering if it would have made any difference though. In almost all these cases, the person's body is found incidentally by a passerby. Appeals for information don't seem to achieve anything tangible. In Jay Slater's case, the police ignored the public, did their own thing, and...
In all the cases I've followed on here, the body has not been found by expert searchers and is found after quite some time by a passerby. As such, I'm not surprised by this latest news and I also don't see it in a negative light. I think Jay will be found eventually, but it could be months or...
I was hoping she might spot my tweet, as I felt so sorry for her, but I expect she's kept away from SM! I felt sorry for his mum too. I read so much vitriol about her and she looked wrecked to me. It was obvious that she hadn't slept for days. I relate to her as a fellow mum. In these cases, I...
Not necessarily. I've directed people before and they've walked a different way and I've assumed that they changed their mind. She wouldn't necessarily think anything of it until later, once she had found out what happened next.
I have a feeling there's a touch of snobbery in it, but I'm sure a lot of it is his social background as well. There's the attack and the fact that he was at a rave, which suggests drugs and makes him seem less of an innocent victim. It's all incredibly judgemental and unwarranted. I feel sorry...
I've still asked people when I've been at bus stops. Sometimes they're inaccurate, sometimes a bus hasn't arrived when the timetable says it should have so I'm left wondering if the buses are actually running, sometimes I just find it hard to understand... I think we have a tendency to find...
We try not to convey anyway. Unless actively suicidal and a risk, we try to refer on to mental health services, who will call or visit the patient the following day. In London, we have a mental health car with a mental health nurse and a paramedic, but there aren't many, so ordinary ambulances...
I'm a frontline paramedic and I've been sent to places to do a welfare check for people who are suicidal. I'm not sure what else would fall within that category ("welfare check"), but I imagine a few things could. I feel desperately sorry for the family now. I expect it's been a difficult few...
