Turns out that Lt Detective that worked at the onset of the investigations, on Suffolk County, was Jack Fitzpatrick. He made many choices to hold back details that could have led to identifying the victims much sooner. This Nassau County Detective is Stephen Fitzpatrick. So, not the same officer.
