Thank you for your reply. I agree with your point and you are right, my interpretation of the events has been coloured by my personal views about Thatcher and seeing the memorial in Buenos Aires. The death of so many young lives was a tragedy and it's difficult not to look for someone to blame...
The British behaved abominably in the Falkands under Thatcher. They bombed a ship killing hundreds of very young Argentinian men, which was sailing away and not a threat. I have visited Buenos Aires and they have monuments there commemorating those lost. Thatcher then tried to twist the story so...
Andrew also set up scholarships for young Vietnamese students attending the British University of Vietnam in Hanoi. There is information about this online but I could only find it in Vietnamese media. This necessitated him taking trips to Vietnam to give presentations at the university. Of...
Just 10% discount for the guilty plea, otherwise would have been 24 years.
I don't like the way having a family is seen in any way as mitigating. Just because you have children doesn't mean you're of good character!
Of course it's nothing to do with LFC but it seems a lot of the victims have suffered financially and it would be such a nice gesture if they could offer some kind of support IMO.
I don't think 16 years would be enough for the damage he caused. I think there are multiple aggravating factors that will increase the sentence. The fact he hit over 100 people including babies, children and the elderly, plus I think one was a police woman and one was definitely a paramedic...

Mahek has just had her sentence cut from 31 years to 26 years. Sounds like the appeal judge has been quite generous to them all imo. Three of the others have had reductions as well.

According to the DM, the prosecutors in this case are now seeking a 12 month custodial sentence.
If true, substantial amounts of money must have changed hands, imo...
The same thing has happened in Grenoble, France, last night, with a car ploughing into PSG fans injuring 4 people. Not sure whether this has always happened or if it's a new thing due to overpopulation, and poor event planning, more awareness of events due to social media, increase in anger due...
I'm so happy to read the final 5 have returned to Australia. I have periodically looked them up over the years and after serving nearly 20 years, I personally feel they have well and truly paid for their crimes.
Hopefully they're still young enough to go on to enjoy happy and fulfilling lives...
Below is a quote from an article linked on the previous thread (I couldn't reply as the thread is closed).
"Mr Klein says he's been inundated with calls since Thompson was killed. Top US firms typically spend millions of dollars on personal security for high-level executives."
Isn't the...
