I can't imagine a gunshot not being heard. Even if not reported at the time it happened, I would think it would have been reported once news of her death broke. Unless she was shot and it was reported and they're keeping it quiet?
I lived in a community with similar pond in NH. Heavily wooded and also with no public access. People would get dropped off and walk in with kayaks/paddles boards all the time-even dragging in bob houses in the winter. Just because there is no public access doesn't mean public didn't access it...
Does anyone else recall a photo of a man in a black hood from a ring camera that was circulating when this first happened? I can't find it, but the one on the right reminds me of it.
I hope he has to foot the bill for search. I can't remember where I read it, but I believe the cost was something like $35k.

So sad, but I'm glad she is able to be returned to her family.
We didn't get a lot of snow this year. I'm only about 30 mins from where she was found and we have had bare ground for quite some time. It's unfortunate that it took so long to find her.
The Abby Hernandez kidnapping was all over the news here when it happened. I have only seen coverage on the local news once for Ashley. I've seen coverage on stations out of Maine & Mass though.
