Apparently this article says the older child was a boy. But, then again, it also said the younger child was a girl when that's clearly not the case anymore, so I think it should be taken with a grain of salt. Still worth noting.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, he escaped from prison in January 1996 while serving time for breaking into a payphone.

Her remains are likely still in the possession of authorities in St. Lawrence County. Asking the crime lab in Albany about the test results wouldn't hurt, either.
