I wanted to comment on something that I noticed. Tennessee has been on a roll when it comes to closing their unidentified persons cases. Kox County in particular has made significant advances regarding their unidentified case files.
In the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024 Knox County Regional Forensic Centre posted that they were awaiting funding from a grant to have all their unidentified remains submitted to Othram for FGG testing. It looks like they received funding because ever since that last announcement the identifications have been rolling in.
Knox County John Doe (1993) - Identified in Apr' 2024
Knox County John Doe (2003) - Identified in Aug 2024
Knox County John Doe (2021) - Identified in Sept' 2024
Knox County John Doe (2002) - Identified in Oct 2024
They have 15 unidentified cases left and all of them have been recently updated. I imagine all of them will be identified in the near future. Way to go @othram!
Question: will this make Knox County the first county ever to identify all their older unidentified cases?
I look forward to a future where all cases are recent/in progress and all older John/Jane Does can finally come home! (With the exceptions of those unfortunate cases where there is no dna/no record of burial location/etc where identification is essentially impossible)
