'I Want You To Shoot Him': Judge Caught On Body Cam Video Telling Officer To Shoot Suspect

The Forest Hills officer was wearing his body camera when he was speaking with Magistrate Thomas Caulfield about a man who had appeared in his court and continued to be a nuisance.

The officer asked what the district justice wanted him to do, his response was “shoot him.”

Officer: “I want to see how you want to proceed in this event in the future.”

Caulfield: “I want you to shoot him.”

Officer: “Hey, in my world, if you are in a private residence, it’s easy, you’ll convey that he’s to leave. He’s not welcome here, he’s not here on business. And then we actually communicate it. That usually doesn’t happen, but it usually starts to move in that defiant thing, the defiant section of criminal trespass. That’s how I perceive it when it starts to become like this foolishness. I don’t know how you think of it here.”

Caulfield: “Shoot him.”

"It was certainly not my intention for these statements to be taken seriously and I deeply regret any harm that this has caused.”

He makes a statement like that in response to a genuine question from a law enforcement officer but didn't really mean it? Riiiiight.

Man Who Judge Told Officer To Shoot: 'I Want The Judge To Be Removed'

The man Judge Caulfield was referring to reached out to KDKA-TV. This is what 51-year-old Brian Jones had to say.

“Ultimately, I want the judge to be removed. He shouldn’t be there any longer. I want the police officer investigated,” he said.

...

“I’m not a bitter, angry black guy that’s just out to get this judge. I just want you to respect my rights,” Jones said.

The day Jones went to the court is the same day District Justice Caulfield told the officer to shoot him after the officer asked the magistrate how he wanted him to handle Jones.

Having that body cam on while asking those specific questions sure was convenient.

I am not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean that he was entrapped or the LE was covering himself?

I can't say I'm surprised.

Good. Maybe it was luck or maybe it was planned, but I hope it leads to his resignation. No excuse. Imagine how long he's gotten away with making those sort of comments.
