Can I please add this : She also made a mockery of domestic violence, and the victims. I personally went through it with my sons father - I feared my life on several occasions, had 16 stitches in order to shut the gaping injury to my left eye, filed police reports and lived in women's shelters to get away from him because my life was truly in danger, he literally went hunting for me. I didn't drive to HIM.

After going through all that, I was a domestic violence victim. I earned that badge. ALV passed it out to Arias like it's nothing.

Anyone now watching this trial can easily surmise that domestic violence claims can be based on nothing, now. She devalued my experience and MY trauma. For that psychopath.

JMOO

Ty for sharing that hunny. I am sorry you went through that, honestly.
((((HUGS)))) for you and your sons.

When and where will the Judge make the decision on accepting or rejecting the DT's new request for filing... And request for another witness...

TIA...:seeya:

I still never understood why she refilled the gas cans in SLC, she was out of Arizona. Why not just gas up the tank? Was it to explain the gas cans when she got home???

I think this is to shore up her original alibi for taking the gas cans--gas was cheaper in Utah. No idea why she needed all that gas in addition to filling the car up, too. She's a bad liar.

So I read the article. Flabbergasting. Sickening really. Sorry... I'm just one of those people who speak my mind.

There is a section on this forum that highlights bullying. Online bullying - in particular. We've all read the recent accounts. They're heartbreaking. Rational adults speak against it. No one considers the slander, horrific and even threatening comments by online bullies as "free speech". I'm lost as to why that could even be a question???

Regardless of what someone things of Jodi Arias - Alyce LaViollette is a hero. She's a woman who's dedicated her life to highlighting domestic abuse. Changing the way society thinks about it. Creating programs that address the problem.

I'm a woman who was never abused. Independent, headstrong (but funny) and very self-aware.

My sister is not.

Today I live with her after a terrible incident that ended 10 years of domestic violence and abuse. The kind that would make most people's hair stand on end. She was battered, raped, degraded and broken in every way you can break a human being. She escaped one night with her kids when her husband tried to kill them all. I came - the big sister. Moved in - helped and stayed and am still helping.

We went through the court process while her (now ex) was charged, tried, convicted and sentenced. The sentence never undid the harm. It never will.

The day Alyce LaViolette took the stand I listened. 5 minutes in - I ran to get my sister. She had to hear what this woman was saying. We stayed glued to the trial during her testimony. We have her book on order at our local book store (currently sold out).

What my sister learned from that testimony was more than she learned from 4 years of reading, therapy, talking, discussing, trying to work things out in her own head and heart.

The trial part - the Jodi Arias issues - they all faded into the background.

I know there are many others out there - abused and abuser alike who heard all that and maybe, just maybe are beginning to understand abuse a bit better.

I don't know Ms Arias. I wasn't present in that bathroom. I don't know what happened. The Prosecutor doesn't either. Nor does Ms Wilmot, nor Kurt Nurmie, nor the doctors who testified, nor the friends, family, police officers. They're all just doing their best to give their insight in the course of justice.

But I do know this. Alyce is an amazing woman. SHE'S not on trial. SHE didn't kill anyone. She gave her professional opinion, in a court of law - and she is certainly entitled to do so - without expecting harm to come to her. I hope she can put the bullies behind her and I wish her all the strength.

When I started on my road to sanity from an incredibly abusive 1st marriage(and childhood), I personally could not find anything I wanted to take from ALV's books and incorporate it into my recovery, healing, learning process to become "human" again. I read "Co-Dependent No More". That hit a chord for me and give it a lot of credit for making sense about where I was at and where I need to strive to be at.

Having been diagnosed PTSD (and Panic Disorder, Chronic Depression) for 23 years, I suffered through the broken bones, protective orders, death threats, guns held to my head, held against my will, etc, etc. That being said, and watching the behavior of JA, her manipulation, etc., etc., I cannot believe for one second that she suffers PTSD from Domestic Violence. I also cannot believe that one such as ALV would NOT realize that she was being used, after 6 previous "experts" declined from giving an evaluation for the DT.

All I do know is that true DV victims will be wary, if not terrified, should they have the unfortunate situation where DV is used in a case that brings them into criminal court. I fear more for their safety and their legitimate claims/proof of DV, than whether ALV continues or even has a career anymore. The damage has been done. That's my :twocents:

I hope your sister continues on that road of recovery, takes it slow, and is good to herself. It's worth it.:)

This may be old information, but I have some questions:

Is PPL and the Mormon Church affiliated in any way?

Why was Jodi at the PPL event where she met Travis? Who invited her?

In what city was the event held where she met Travis?

Thanks guys.
1) No but apparently many Mormons were associates
2) She was there because she had just signed up to be an associate and there were seminars to help them with marketing and sales
3) I'm not sure but I want to say somewhere in Nevada.

And she said she wanted to use gas cans to save money on gas. How much would 15 gallons of gas weigh in the trunk of a car? Hauling that weight would increase gas costs on a road trip.

JA isn't as einsteiny as she thinks she is. :floorlaugh:

IIRC a gallon of gas weighs right at six pounds. So 15 gallons = 90 lbs

So the defense is requesting this information? ty

The people of Arizona paid ALV many $1000s. She spent 44 hrs. visiting with Jodi during 4 trips, one of which was conveniently timed to her daughter's wedding. She supposedly read many 1000s of correspondence between JA and TA. She indicated she stored all that in her trained brain, and purposely didn't interview anyone else. She presented her findings overtly passive aggressively in court, but produced no written report beyond a few disjointed jottings like "manifesto?". She left AZ for CA in well-deserved disgrace imo.

I tend to agree. This thing is never ending. Alyce should NEVER have been allowed to testify as an expert, and her dragging TA through the mud was despicable and unforgivable.

Makes me think that I know that JSS and Nurmi, Wilmott, Martinez probably ALL have other cases going on at the same time, but perhaps they should change the process to one trial at a time? For example, court ALWAYS starts late because the attorneys are in chambers discussing something with JSS, well couldn't they just come EARLY to do that. And while they're there...can't they go over ALL of what they need to talk to her about for THAT DAY - that way they don't have to go into chambers once before trial, once after the 10 minute break, then again after lunch, then again after the afternoon break??? That's what most normal people do - when you have something scheduled and you need to take care of extra stuff, you either have to come in early or stay later. Could the attorneys not get into chambers by 8:45-9?? I'm assuming it's this way so they can have time to keep working on new developments in the case as well as take care of other cases, but specifically for the chambers discussions, I think even getting there 15 minutes ahead of time would make the trial actually start on time.

Is PPL and the Mormon Church affiliated in any way?- Yes, they seem to be.

Why was Jodi at the PPL event where she met Travis? Who invited her?- I don't know who she was there with, someone else might. sorry.

In what city was the event held where she met Travis? Las Vegas.

Awww. It's my fault for being snarky, so I would like to publicly apologize. Apparently, one of Nancy's little ones wanted her to wear the barrette. I'm sorry for being stupid about it. :(

Come on Sleuth, NG is a tough cookie, really. I'm sure she's heard worse than our humorous comments on her barrette ;).

Do we know who introduced her to the company? ty

In total respect, in any area we can all see or perceive things differently. I stand on the side of 'I'm not sure what I see there."
But I fully agree that others may see something. In any case, I totally respect others' views. If I find myself getting frustrated about what I perceive as misinformation and it's occurring repeatedly, I just keep on reading.
I know that I often come across as fairly black and white. I sincerely hope that none of my posts, in which I disagree on a concept, ever seem challenging to the poster and not the post. That is one of my favorite rules here, to respond to the post, and not the poster.
I will never see certain candies the same way again :)

ITA, but what I'm saying is that these photos were presented to Jodi on the stand. Part of her defense is her story of sexual abuse--one incident being the candy. If there was another opportunity for Jodi to play the sexual victim, it would be in those photos taken the day of the murder. Jodi never mentions candy--and she's not shy about talking about all manner of explicit acts.

I see no reason for JM & JA never mentioning a piece of candy in her Arias, if you know what I mean. MOO

Last night my mom and I were having an argument about the Kennedy assassination (don't ask) and she kept insisting on certain "facts" because she was alive then and remembers them from life. She kept talking about the Zapruder film but calling it "Zagruder," and arguing with me about the name. Finally I said, "So, would you say you remember these details as clearly as you remember that it's Zagruder, not Zapruder? Her eyes got wide and she said, "Okay Juan Martinez!"

The only memory I have of the JFK shooting was watching my mom cry and I tried to comfort her because I didn't understand what was going on. But I'm going to give a shout out to your mom regarding the "Zagruder" oops. She may have gotten the TWO names confused with TWO of the worst political events ever. The Watergate scandal that resulted in Nixon resigning his Presidency had a "player" by the name of Jeb Magruder (deputy campaign manager for Nixon) who was charged with Perjury and Conspiracy and ended up doing 7 months in prison. You're Mom just had a "moment" of confusion I'm sure.

JA isn't as einsteiny as she thinks she is. :floorlaugh:
I heard Mike Gallanos on HLN today say 50 lbs., and the cans looked huge! Would have taken up most of the room in the trunk. Not much room for a case of water or a suitcase.

Who has she drawn in the nude? Please and thank u:seeya:

I don't know for sure only what ILIKETOBENDPAGES posted. It appears the nude was done of the person in the latest drawing that Jodi has put up for sale. The drawing has the likeness of someone within the courtroom.

It seems to me that if Jodi is claiming to be selling these pictures the State should be recouping the money from them. That would stop them.

3) las vegas
