04/22/2013 - waiting for rebuttal to continue

This further cements my belief that they believe they have one juror in their camp, based on the juror questions, who believes Jodi.

B I N G O ! I totally agree !

I remember early on, I did NOT like some of the juror's questions -- BUT -- they got better !

Now ... I am not so sure !

:moo:

Wow this trial is quite the cash cow for that DT. A never ending supply of income for them, courtesy of Arizona taxpayers who are paying out the ying yang.

Wow. Just wow.

not to mention,if this witness is going to refute what dr demarte has testified to,why did they not call this person in the first place and do without the bumbling dr samuels and ALV?

i also have no worries, juan will eat them alive and i agree it will no doubt end up helping travis :woohoo:

i hope the judge denies because i really dont have til christmas to hang around watching this, but with JSS's track record of course she will allow it:banghead:

I hope so, too. Since I've been watching the trial for around a month, I wasn't really thinking about how long the DT's been dragging everything out. I just saw a few posts back that the State rested on January 17th??!!

Someone should have been asserting their authority more strongly, suffice it to say. But let's keep fingers crossed that this little ruse is seen through and no additional DT witnesses are allowed!

I think this is a BAD idea from the defense. I don't think this jury can take another few weeks of testimony from a psychologist...think about it we have been watching it just like they have. The defense team is actively engaged in this every day, so they can't see the kind of effect it has on people who have to sit there and listen to it every day for weeks on end (I'm talking specifically about these psychologist/therapist testimonies). Anyway, fine let them make the mistake, hopefully they will hurt their case even more.

Defense now asking to add manslaughter heat of passion for the jury to consider...never ends

Is this true? And how could it be heat of passion when she premeditated the murder of TA?

Seems a pretty tough sell to this jury at this point. You've spent the better part of a century trying to convince them of this "self-defense" and "abuse" nonsense, but now -- oh, by the way, go ahead and let her go with manslaughter heat of passion if you feel bad about 1st degree and premed. Nay, say I! Nay! Now, if I could only get into the deliberation room....

The jury hasn't seen that tape yet, but it could be coming in the rebuttal. Hollie and Jacob Mefford recorded the video of Travis recounting the near-death/armed robbery story and Jodi hanging all over him with her head on his lap (and otherwise appearing to be totally bored with his story). The Meffords are on the prosecution's witness list.

Oops, you were right on who recorded the video. I said Chris Hughes. I think I had his name in my head because of a video of his I just watched. Going to fix my post now. :)

In thread # 155 and post no. 1121.

I don't know how to bring this picture over. Maybe someone with more experience can make it happen.\

I don't know how to bring it over either, but that is exactly what I wanted to see. Would still love to see Bobby's fingers compared. It absolutely is not Travis' fingers. They look nothing alike. I sure hope it was never stipulated that it was Travis. It looks like it could be Daryl's, but without seeing Bobby's, I can't say.

Thank you!

For all of the "context, context and more context" spouted and spewed by Ms ALV I would sure like the jury to have "THE context" of what went down between JA and Travis in May/June. I think that Chris and Sky Hughes could provide that context. Crossing my fingers here. Also, I would really like the jury to hear more about the photographic documentation that JodiAnn took of her 'neck bruises' on JUNE 3RD- no less! Who here would believe that she inflicted wounds herself or got MM to do it for her?

Nothing they do seems to make any sense. Straws, anyone?

You can say that again!

If they're granted a surrebuttal, can the State ask for another rebuttal to rebutt their surrebuttal? This madness has got to end at some point and if JSS allows all these rebuttals, will it ever? I'm not surprised at all they've asked for it. I saw a defense attorney on HLN a couple Fridays ago and he said he thought the defense would ask for one and he suspected it would be granted by the judge, but as I said, Monica L just said she would be surprised if she allowed it. Who knows....?

Just when I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel, the defense adds another straw to the camel's back.

All the info on the recent DT requests and intended new witness.

Will you please post a link, as soon as I read this I went to look for it and cannot find anything.

What I am most surprised about is that the defense was able to come up with another Dr. who is willing to stake his entire career on Jodi! Obviously this Dr. hasn't been paying attention to this case.

But if her mental state isn't in question - I mean, they haven't tried for insanity - why does ANY of that matter???

They are NUTS if they think "crime of passion" fits her testimony! I mean, TRAVIS was the one enraged, not JODI...according to her anyway.

How does that fit a crime of passion? The ONLY thing her testimony fits is self defense. Since of course, she TOLD US she made stuff up to fit the evidence!

I mean, this seems pretty clear to me. Are the lawyers really THAT stupid?
Maybe they select those who are at the end of their careers instead of the beginning.. for that very reason.

Does he owe you a favor? If so, ask him to call in sick.

I wish, even if he did it was 23 years ago, he'd probably say he couldn't remember. I am thinking of emailing him just to say hi and see how he's doing. :giggle:

yeah i think juan took 9 days and the defense 30+ for THREE witnesses :banghead::banghead:

It has been fun folks but time to get back to work.

Have a good afternoon!!

Robert Geffner? OMG, I used to work under him in family violence when I was getting my bachelor's in psychology, he is my former college professor. OMG

Well neesaki, spill the proverbial beans! What was he like? Moral fiber? Integrity? Good character?

This is what I understand this to be:

Committing second degree murder upon a sudden quarrel or heat of passion resulting from adequate provocation by the victim

"Adequate provocation" means conduct or circumstances sufficient to deprive a reasonable person of self-control.

What I don't understand is how they can massage this into Jodi's previous testimony. IMO - she didn't testify to "heat of passion" or a quarrel. (He yelled at her for dropping the camera - that can't possibly qualify as causing a reasonable person to lose self-control.) Her long drawn-out testimony was self-defense. Had they intended this her testimony would have been a different story - I guess they are headed to their . . . what . . . fourth or fifth "story"??!!
